In Azkaban, the prisoners make their own chains. They lock themselves into the endless loops of their own thoughts. They can break the bars if they try hard enough, but their circles keep them in, snap their arms to their sides and fill them with pitch-black weight. The waves plug the ears of the prisoners. The sea dribbles into their skulls.
