Ah oh my goodness, this was exactly the adorable Jily fluffiness that I needed right now!

I love the way that you took the 5+1 format and the James/Lily relationship and flipped things around a little - the fact that Lily's the one getting jealous here because she likes James is so nice and refreshing to see.  I feel like I've read a lot of stories where James is head over heels for Lily for years and she only starts liking him a little while before they start dating, but I loved this idea.  You built up Lily's feelings for James so well in this story and it was just adorable to read.  She's definitely the sort of person I can see being resolutely ignorant of her own feelings for someone like James because she knows that it would mean she's been wrong previously, and she probably wouldn't want to admit that.  Still, there are so many occasions when it's so obvious that she likes him and I love the fact that even James realises it and pushes her in the right direction by the end too.

The fact that all of Lily's friends were so aware of her feelings was brilliant, too.  I feel like it must have been equally infuriating and funny for them to watch Lily getting jealous and mad about James being with other girls (even when he wasn't actually with other girls, like in the scene in the cafe).  I'm glad that Marlene got to be there to witness the moment of realisation though.

Ah, the scene when they were discussing where Sirius and James were going to be in the future was slightly heartbreaking - because one of the predictions came true and the other didn't only because James and Lily had their lives cut so short (I kind of want you to write an AU now where James and Lily are in their late 20s and running around chaotically after their 5 kids, though :P).

I loved the scene with Petunia, too!  The fact that their relationship hadn't fully broken down by this point just felt very special and it was nice to see her included in the story.

And the ending was so perfect - Lily realising in an epiphany-like moment that she was in love with James, and then having absolutely no chill when she ran to go and talk to him and tell him that he couldn't marry anyone else.  There was something really fun about seeing James be the calm, in control one here and of course them finally getting together was adorable <3

Hiya, I’m here for the HC finale!

I absolutely adore the idea for this! The way Jily is so often portrayed is with James being hopelessly smitten and Lily just putting up with him for the longest time, but I love love love how you subvert this here! I think it makes a lot more sense anyway for Lily to also have been attracted to James for a while, especially if she likes to pretend that she isn’t, like she does here!

I also really love how her friends totally know what’s going on but are too scared of Lily to say anything to her! I don’t blame them; furious Lily is definitely a force to be reckoned with and I wouldn’t want to get on her bad side! But I enjoyed how Andromeda just ignores that and makes all these sneaky comments about getting close to people anyway!

I really, really loved the third moment; Lily’s so focussed on rationalising her ‘not-feelings’ for James, and trying to qualify her jealousy as platonic affection that she doesn’t question why James is there in the first place, miles out of his way just to have come see her! I also really enjoyed Petunia not buying the ‘my close friend James’ explanation, and subtly teasing Lily about it!

God, reading that fifth moment nearly broke my heart – there are all these references to the future that the girls make so casually, either about horrible things that turn out to be true, like the joke about Sirius being in prison, or about their wishes for a bright and happy future, which of course don’t come true for any of them, and I’m just – urgh.

But I love how it’s still a light-hearted moment, and how the girls tease Lily with the prospect of James’s blond supermodel wife!

And then Lily finally realises that she can’t pretend her jealousy is based on platonic affection any longer! It’s so adorable how she subconsciously refers to him as ‘her James’, and how that’s what finally makes the penny drop!

And I love how the Katie Hopkins rumour was just a ploy to finally get Lily to see sense! I’m very grateful to Dorcas and Marlene for spreading it to Lily :P

This was super cute!

Love, Julia

I love 5 plus 1s and what better than with a Jily.  If only James had realized that making Lily jealous was the key to her heart.  Lily’s reactions to each scene are great! You can see her wavering between. “I really have no reason to be jealous” and “I’m a redhead. Hear me roar.” I particularly like her friends’ reactions, “Don’t say anything she might eat us” was hilarious and clues us into Lily’s temper.  She definitely acts first and thinks about it later. (At least Petunia was being a logical--and nice--that day.)

And when we finally get to the plus one! Who knew that James Potter could be so sneaky (but then again, who knew Lily Evans could be so dense.) What a great little escapade to trick--I mean make a girl realize her true feelings.

A fun, sweet story.

!!! Hello!! I clicked on this because I love a good jily fic and I saw your status update so you know what why not and THIS WAS SO CUTE it was such a fun take on the idea, and I love the idea of Lily being totally daft and totally jealous re: her feelings for James for the longest time until she's forced to confront them because it just ? feels right for her character you know.

I got a good laught out of all of this, it was just a lot of fun and I really liked how you portrayed Lily's friendships as well, they were very concerned and very good to her, but also like "let's go come on now" and Marlene in +1 was sooo funny like oh welcome to the reality all the rest of us have been living on this whole time, glad you could join us. :'D

I just really enjoyed it, thank you for sharing it so I could have a chance to read it! <3 :D
