JULIE. JULIE THIS IS SO CUTE. I absolutely love this interpretation of how Luna and Rolf met!! I feel like that’s such a hard question to answer generally because Luna is so unabashedly weird, and so how would Rolf meet someone like that? And the scene you’ve written here so perfectly establishes that Rolf is an equally weird soul who also owns a pair of spectrespecs, who is happy to go on a whole trip with someone he just met! That’s how they met!! Which is amazing, wow. And most of all, I love how this is a story of Ginny being concerned -- because who wouldn’t be, with such an odd situation presented to them? -- but ultimately trusting her friend (with the caveat that if anything happens, Ginny will almost certainly come tearing after them)!
I also trust Luna. She’s odd but by no means is she stupid, and if she trusts Rolf this much, then I too trust Rolf that much. :D
Thank you for writing this most cutest adorablest tale!!! I loved it, very much so. <33

Aw, I love Luna and Ginny friendship fics. I loved their relationship in the books, how Ginny just respected and stood up for Luna even though they were both so different. And that is a beautiful sentiment that you actually mention here: Just because she and Ginny had different beliefs (and always had) it hadn't changed the resolve or love of their friendship, which she appreciated. Differences, Luna believed, were important.
Differences ARE important! It's nice to be with people who are like you, but how can you ever learn and become bigger than yourself without getting to know other minds and worlds and lives and perspectives, and so that is just as important, if not more, than sticking with what and who you know.
Yet of course Ginny would still be protective of Luna. Luna has a wild mix of strength and vulnerability about her, and it was very nicely captured here. Another thing I love, though, is that Ginny decides to trust Luna and respects her right and need to make her own choices and take risks, and she'll be there just in case something happens. It's beautiful care and support between them.
And that ending, ksbskjgbksjbfjsbf, it made me so so happy! Wonderfully written, thank you so much, great job with the prompt, really!

Hi, Julie! I’m here for the sandcastle event!
I love your characterisation of Luna! She’s such a free spirit, and I think you’ve hit the nail right on the head – there’s such a wonderful, airy quality to her thoughts! Like, she doesn’t dismiss Ginny’s worries, per se, she just knows that they don’t really apply to her because she’s so secure in her bond with Rolf! And she knows that a lot of people probably think her choices silly, but she knows it doesn’t ultimately matter, because they’re her choices, in the end!
I love her relationship with Ginny, too! I totally get why Ginny’s anxious for her friend – let’s be real, we all would if we had a friend like Luna – but it’s so refreshing and lovely to see that, in the end, Ginny does trust Luna’s judgement enough to let her make her own choices, even if she can’t understand them!
This was a really sweet story, and I really loved your tone of voice throughout!x Julia
