AWwwwwwww this was one of the cutest stories I've eve read. Luna as a tiny child? With her mother still alive? And them imagining a whole world of glittering Crumple-Horned Snorkacks and feathery Umgublular Slashkilters all coming to say hello to princess Luna? It's so perfect. <3
I love in the first few lines how Luna is upset she can't go play outside with the faeries because they're all at home and warm and cozy out of the rain. That's just the sort of thing Luna would say.
And the whole world her mother starts creating for her to entertain her- this is super cute, and I wonder if that's the reason Luna has always been so attached to these particular animals, because they were the ones her mother talked about all the time. But it's really cool because it's kind of like Pandora just has to spark something and then Luna takes the idea and runs with it and just keeps creating this magical land in her head. Which is probably nice for Pandora as she is trying to cook dinner and it's a lot easier to do that without distraction when Luna is just watching imaginary Gulping Plimpies. :P
I love that Xenophilius just joins right in as if this is an everyday thing. Because in this household, it probably is, and for that I just want to squish all of them. They're such a cute family.
The title is perfect, as well - the story definitely illustrates the feeling of whimsy. Aww, this was so cute and I was so glad to find this story!
Aww I’m a sucker for young Luna! We don’t see it a lot, since writing children and Luna can both be very intimidating, but I love how you’ve done it here!
That line about the fairies being hidden sweet and warm is so perfect. It really feels like Luna believes it, and it speaks to the world she lives in - magica, safe, and loved.
I’m also really glad that we get to see Pandora alive. I want happy childhood Luna, not dead mommy Luna (of course I prefer to write the latter cause I can’t resist the angst)
Awww I wonder if this was the first mention of Crumple Horned Snorcacks or if Pandora believed in them before this. Luna sure did forever after.
Aww, that ending! She sure will!
Omg I said “aww” so many times, didn’t I? Well, that’s because this story is full of it! It’s super sweet and heart warming, and it feels very satisfying to see Luna get this lovely childhood, at least for a little while. I also like that in her fantasy she is a worshipped princess, even though she grows to be like the most humble person ever.
I loved this!
Sam.

This story is the cutest thing ever and I love how Pandora entertained Luna while it was raining outside. The way she set the scene and named creatures like the Crumple Horned Snorkacks and how Luna started mentioning the Moon Frogs as soon as she got into the game was amazing really, and it made me wonder if they all thought those things up to make Luna entertained and keep her innocence in a way, or that they truly believed in those creatures themselves. The moment Xenophelius Lovegood entered the story was a really nice one too and I loved how he joined in no questions asked. It must've been a lovely time when they were with the three of them and it's also showing so well how young Luna is still there, even if the mention of Pandora there was enough of a hint as it was already.
And then the fact that Luna absolutely did not want to go to bed made me really smile. The way you described that moment really made me see a small child in front of me being all stubborn and wanting to stay up even though they clearly could not anymore (gee isn;t that familiar) is really well done and warmed my heart, especially with the last sentence about her dreaming. Well done.

Hey :) I picked this story for its lovely title; Whimsy is a word I absolutely adore. Plus, I thought it would be some light, fluffy relief after the last story. I am so pleased to report I wasn't disappointed. It is adorable!
I wonder how old Luna was in this story? Her mother is still alive, and from memory, I think she passed when Luna was somewhere between seven and nine years old? Luna sounds quite young, so I'm guessing she's around four or five years old. It must have been boring for her to be cooped up inside when she's used to playing outside with faeries. I'm guessing, as an only child and probably one who doesn't attend mainstream school, she probably doesn't have many friends her age?
I love the background information incorporated into this story, of all the weird and wonderful animals Luna talks about in JK's latter HP novels. It's lovely to think that her mother and father created this imaginative fantasy world around her which kept her occupied. Perhaps these creatures really do exist? Maybe that's part of the magic and mystery of this story.
The last sentence made me tear up a little, because I know what's around the corner for Luna's family, but otherwise, it was just what I needed to read! I think you've done brilliantly to create a young Luna image in this; kids aren't easy to write at all.
So cute!
