Reviews For A Dozen Red Roses

Hello once more!

The scene with Percy at his wife's grave is absolutely heartbreaking, and the red roses are touching, especially given the way he'd used them leading up to their proposal.  The entire scene is exceptionally sad and sweet.  "This is what you get for marrying a Muggle."  It's so sad to think that wizards and witches usually will outlive their non-magical spouses, even if they live as long as Audrey had.

I especially like how Olliver takes care of Percy in his state, as some time has passed since Audrey's death, but it still must be extremely painful for him.Of course, with everything happening to him, and as natural as it feels being around Olliver, he asks the question.  I adore how Olliver freezes up, and breezes out to fetch some tea. It feels so real in that moment.

And of course, it was Rita who couldn't grasp Percy's bisexuality.  Poor Percy must've had to put with a lot from that one. And I do love this backstory on how Percy and Olliver became best friends.  It seems very fitting for this story in particular.

I do love how you wrapped this one up.  Of course, it's too soon after his wife's death to really be considering any kind of relationship, but I do love how it's out on the table to be possibly taken up at a later date.

This was a very sweet stand-alone vignette.  Once again, the writing was fluid and your use of imagery was extremely powerful. I enjoyed how it acted as a companion to the other two pieces as another beginning for Percy and Olliver.

Excellent job overall. Once I have all the rubrics added up, I'll be posting the results for the winners on the Forums (and possibly on Twitter/Tumblr as well).  Thank you so very much for entering the competition, and (once more) I'm extremely sorry for the long wait for the results!

Maybe he’ll have occasion to buy a dozen red roses once more in his life.

I LOVED THIS. I can actually see Percy and Oliver together. It's unfortunate that not too many people write about Percy. He's hard to find on any archive. I would love to read a full fledged story about the two.

But this story! UH! You're all really going for my gut today. I felt so sad reading about him mourning his wife. He reminds me of my godfather mourning my godmother so that really hit home there reading about Percy at her grave.

I loved the interaction between Oliver and Percy. Though it was brief it really gave a sense of hope. That he would be okay without her. Though he would still love her. I also really appreciated the fact that you gave us a background into his sexuality. Damn that Rita Skeeter! It's just plain rude to out someone. I hate when entertainment shows or magazines, etc. out people when they aren't ready. It's no ones business!
