Reviews For low tide

Awh. This is so sad and introspective and nostalgic. It's 2 in the morning and now I want to be on the beach and drown in my own thoughts. I doubt they'll be as beautiful or as poetic as the ones you've crafted to suit George's feelings and struggle here, but still... I really do love the imagery here and the comparison you've drawn between the sea and memories. It's such an interesting thought to compare memories to footsteps in the sand, temporary, then washed up by the sea, then spreads all over and all around to envelop Fred in this aura of reminiscence about his brother.

I do like that it's not all sad. Difficult as life may be for George without Fred, I don't imagine him not cracking a bit of  smile as he thinks back to the legacy and the bond they shared.

I don't have words elegant enough to describe yours. But I can tell you that they've had a calming impact on me and give me chills at some point. And now you owe me a ride to a sea somewhere because the way you've describe it, I could almost feel the breeze and smell the salt (I was impressed to see you use the word briny here; I've never seen it used like that but it's so colourful!), so now I crave it. Maybe if I read this again, that would help a bit. That's how wonderful it is!

Author's Response:

Thank you so much for this thoughtful review and your insightful interpretation of the story! I'm so flattered to hear this described as elegant or poetic, that means so much to me. And I'm so glad that you liked the imagery of the sea as a setting and as a metaphor for time with the memories of the past worked in.

I'm also glad to hear that it didn't all come across as sad. I think this is sort of the beginning of when George is starting to come to terms with what happened and find peace again, so the memories of Fred start to be a little amusing again instead of just horribly painful.

Your last paragraph is such a wonderful compliment! Thank you, it honestly means so much  to hear that the story impacted you so much and that the descriptions were that effective. Thank you for reading, and for this beautiful review! ♥♥♥

I don't usually read George-mourns-over-Fred's-death stories, but I had a promise to keep, so here I am.

Tears, more tears, and even more tears...

This was so beautiful. In such a short space you managed to put so many emotions...

You have a way to describe the sea that is just perfect!

And all the childhood memories you put in here... It was all so sad and so sweet...

Another lovely piece of art, Kristin. You are such a wonderful writer.

All my love, as always.

Chiara.

Author's Response:

I still can't believe you're reading EVERYTHING on my page. Like... I want to give you an award or something, it really means so much to me that you like my writing that much. Gahh, you are just wonderful ♥ *hugs*

Thank you so much! I'm glad you were able to feel all the emotion in this piece despite it being so short, and that you liked the descriptions of the sea. Glad you liked the memories as well. I felt that happy, humourous memories were necessary in a story where George couldn't be making jokes in the present. Someday there will be more happy memories for him :)

I appreciate your reviews so much! Thank you for your kind words! ♥
