Hi, Jacque! Here for our swap! <3
Another incredibly exciting chapter! Poor Lily, she's going through just too much... having to relive all these moments, knowing everything that she knows... having to keep the pretense that she believes in the Saevus cause, having to stand Anders' avances... and then having to deal with the countereffects of whatever charm brought her back in time... it's just too much, as I was saying above... :/
Sol is such a ray of sunshine! But, uhm, no, giving Anders a chance is not good advice... not that she has any idea about what's actually going on... anyway, it's good to see the two girls relying on each other! <3
Loved that section at the Saevus headquarters! I do wonder, too, how many people there are convinced of doing the noble things and how many are aware of Saevus' true goals... I suppose there is a bit of both? Or was Lily the only one who was tricked? I doubt she was...
Okay, I sort of wish she did let them kill Anders... but I can see why she couldn't, if she needs to get to the bigger fishes... but still... urgh, I hate Anders more and more!
The chemistry with Scorpius keeps being incredible! And wow, he's already so defensive of her, who would've imagined? It was such a tender and intimate moment between them here... the way they took care of each other, and the delicateness of that kiss... and of course Albus arrives and interrupts and is like "what the hell are you doing?" :P As I said some reviews ago, these two are going to drive him crazy, and I'm so here for it! :P
Wonderful chapter as always! Thank you so much for the swap!
Big snowball hug,
Chiara
Hi, Jacque! Here for our swap! :D
Ahahah! I have a feeling these two are going to drive Albus crazy, aren't they? :P Poor Lily, though... so much to digest... and reliving all these events, with all the additional knowledge, must be so hard... :/
Wow, it is so crazy, the way everyone is working undercover in some way, pretending to be something they aren't... how do you trust anyone? Can't blame Lily for not being fully trusting of Scorpius, but also... wait! Draco was an undercover Auror, too??? :O I did think it was strange to imagine Draco getting involded with "modern death eaters"... I loved this twist! And it explains Scorpius' motives a bit better as well, and why he's so close to Albus, if it was Albus who helped him uncovering the truth... so many new elements, I love how well constructed this story is! And... chronomancy? Okay, I'm intrigued... who planned Lily's trip back in the past and why? Was it meant to be Lily, or is Scorp right and it was meant for someone else? What's going on with the Unspeakables' disappearences? And now that I think about it, I think I forgot to mention this in my previous reviews, but... the ring Anders gave to Lily and that disappeared (if I remember correctly), that must have a deeper meaning too, right?
Side note: maybe it's because I'm biased by what we've learnt about him, but every time Anders makes an appearence, I hate him a bit more... :P
Other side note: I also keep loving the chemistry between Scorpius and Lily! Her memories of their kiss, and the way they look at each other, and how she reacts at his wink... so much belligerent sexual tension! :P I doubt Scorpius Malfoy has been picky in relationships like I have. He's probably kissed a hundred women the way he kissed me that night. Uhm, maybe... or maybe you two just work so well together... I don't know why, but I can't see Scorpius kissing a hundred women? Or maybe he did, who knows... :P
Another wonderful chapter! So intriguing! So many revelations but so many questions yet to be answered as well! You are so good at it!
Thank you so much for the swap!
Big snowball hug,
Chiara
Here for 3/3!
Oh, Anders. My former statement about him giving me the creeps still stands, and I'm glad that Lily's starting to realize that no, he doesn't want someone to watch out for her because he cares, but because he wants to see what she's up to because he probably suspects her to be involved in something. If I didn't already know he was a bad dude that would definitely put some warning bells in my ears
I'm glad Lily's finally getting a weekend off to rest, but of course it starts off with Albus barging in. Overprotective brother-mode activitated, but I get the sense that Lily maybe needed him without realizing that she needed him, y'know? Someone who's family and who can look out for her, but even in this twisted world with Scorpius and Albus being the people she can talk to, we're still not really sure we can trust Albus. His interrogation was rather pointed and I'm not sure if that's just because it's how he is in general or if he's trying to find out more information than Lily's willing to give him. OR, maybe I'm just paranoid and not trusting anyone because this whole time jump is so crazy. Entirely possible, but I love it so much. ALSO, for that matter, how much do we know we can trust Lily??? :eyes:
Okay, so I love that Al had a "talk" with her about Scorpius, but if I'm still not fully ready to trust Albus, I'm kind of the opposite with Scorp. I'm not sure what it is about him but I'm more inclined to believe that he's on Lily's side in this - maybe because he was the other one that was also murdered in the future? Maybe because he gets mixed up even further in all of this? But Al's whole warning with him was kind of harsh and right now I am not really sure who I should be trusting here. Also, I did really love the bit when Albus brought up Ginny and how Lily was still working through the same scars her parents had from the war and everything, that was a nice touch
Poor Lily. She really just needs some time alone, I think - or a bath. And a drink. Definitely a hug. (Preferably from Scorpius XD)
I love this and I love how twisty it is and trying to navigate who we can trust and how Lily's going to stop her death in the future and I really hope I'm not wrong about Scorpius because then both Lily and I will be devastated :(
Thank you for the triple swap!! Looking forward to the next update <3-Jill
Back again! (2/3)
I AM SCREAMING!! (You know why. "Who did this to you??" Are you kidding? WHILE HE'S ALSO INJURED?? I AM FLAILING!!!)
Okay. Okay, I'm going to relax and give you a proper review because holy crap, this was a big chapter but in this best way! I love that Lily makes time for Sol and that Sol tries to keep her relaxed and make her feel better. But she obviously knows her well enough to know that she's not 100% because she clocked it pretty quick that the meditations didn't work. I feel like Sol might figure things out (not necessarily the things things, but that she's not really right and there's a big reason why) quicker than Lily might like.
Ugh, Anders. Anders gives me the creeps and I do not like. I can't imagine how complicated it is for Lily because like, she doesn't like him and knows what he's done but of course he's still Anders, the guy who maybe wanted to marry her so of course shes' going to feel some kind of way about him still. I liked the line about him haunting her and her feeling like she's going a little crazy - I could only imagine how time travel effects not just her sense of time but also her sense of self and you've done such a great job of capturing that kind of dysmorphia
Can I shout to the rooftops how much I love Scorpius? Because honestly, I kind of want to. Of COURSE Lily would end up Apparating to the gym instead of home because she knows home isn't a place but a person -- AHEM. I love how protective he is of her and you got my flailing earlier in this review but honestly it was so so good. And I loved that she stitched up his wound and kinda yelled at him for it because it shows that they take care of each other, not just the physical stuff but like actively healing or whatever. Poor Lily is definitely going to be a little traumatized after the kill and I love that you didn't brush it off, it's still making its way into her head even though she knows it's self-defense. She's rightfully still rattled and I loved that she seeked comfort in Scorpius
LOL, Albus. I love Albus. He has to know, right? I mean, after this, he definitely has to know. (Also thank you to Lily for being like "you're telling me you two aren't sneaking around"? Am I the only one that noticed that Scorp didn't answer? I can't be, right??? :eyes:)
Another excellent chapter! Sad that there's only one left :(
Back soon! <3
Hey hey, here for our swap! (1/3)
Ooh, okay, so Albus does know about Lily being sent back through time and I kind of adore the tension between the three of them. (Lily, Albus, Scorpius) I also got a really good chuckle about Al being like, "wait a second, why did you call my best friend Scorp"? because that one line shows so much about Lily and Scorpius' relationship - if there even was one - before the time warp and it's put Albus into brother mode and I'm so so here for it. I wish Albus would loosen the reins a little, Lily's frustration is incredibly justified because I can sense that she's capable of more than what the boys are letting her do. I do get the risks behind it, but yeah, I am 100% on Lily's side here XD
Ugh, every time Anders is mentioned I kind of want to strangle him. Of course he's going to fuck up Lily's mission and I can't help but wonder why Scorpius was there too, and if we can really trust him, and who the bad guys really are in this creative twisty world you've thought up. I highly doubt Anders is one of the good guys, though, and I fully support Lily's wrongs in killing him and I hope she gets the chance to do it. And like, I get that Al doesn't want to watch his little sister turn into a murderer, but like. What if it's justified? WHAT THEN ALBUS??
Okay, but Lily can't stop thinking about the kiss and that means there's gonna be another one, right?? RIGHT?? I've said it before and I'll say it again, their chemistry is just too good and they seem to be pulled toward each other no matter who's in the room and I can't wait for that to explode because it's gotta. Right???
Oooh, okay, so there's some kind of familial tie with Draco and the Shadows and what happened to Scorpius. It's enough to make Lily not fully trust Scorp and I don't blame her for that, especially after what she's been through with Anders. I am especially curious to see how this is going to play out :eyes:
Another excellent chapter! Thanks for the swap(s). Will be back later for more <3
I decided to read one more chapter because I was too intrigued...
And I'm still intrigued... I want to learn everything about these characters, their backstories, the Verti and the Saevus and how it all connects... I love this dark Lily (talk about morally grey) and Scorpius is so fascinating, too... and Draco killed by Aurors??? What is that? Lily has a point, it does make you question Scorpius' motives... it's all so... did I already say intriguing?
Oh, and yes, Albus... I totally agree, for someone who can't lie and keep secrets, he's been very successful in keeping his actual job a secret from everyone... is Sol in on it? Who knows? Scorpius seems to be particularly loyal to him, too, which I also love. I wonder if there is any interesting backstory there, too...
Urgh, Anders... maybe because I know everything we now know about him, but that encounter at the bar creeped me out... or maybe you were just very good at making me feel how creeped out Lily was... I also liked the idea that in this second life she's feeling bolder. I suppose it would make sense. She'd been quiet and cautious for so long, only to end up killed by her lover... of course she would get into a sort of you-only-live-once (or twice) mindset :P Btw, I still would really like to know how that happened, but I'm sure you'll explain later? Or maybe not... maybe it's just one of those things we readers have to accept... but back to Anders... I love that mix of love and hate she's feeling for him now! Such strong emotions! And makes so much sense in the context of what happened!
But also, wow, the chemistry between her and Scorpius! Hot stuff! I wonder if he was actually reading her brain, or if she was just very obvious... or if he already knows more than he's showing... a lot of questions there, too...
Okay, it makes sense that she would want Anders dead... and that she would go for Scorpius about it, because Albus definitely would be lawful and noble etc... All I see when my eyes are closed for too long is the blood of all the targets they sent me after staining my hands. Can't even begin to imagine the guilt she must be going through right now...
Wonderful job on this!
Snowball hug,
Chiara
Hi, Jacque! Here for our swap (sorry for the lateness...)
Okay... I wasn't sure what to expect here... every time I thought I knew what was going on, you turned in the opposite direction... I sort of had a feeling that the good guys and the bad guys were mixed up, though... but wow, this was harsh! Anders, how could you???
Can I say that I absolutely loved the way you built the chapter, and the seamless switch from one scene to the next? Especially the first one, lol! "Surely we've reached the end of this tale." Poor Albus... I bet an older brother would never want to hear certain details... :P
I also love all the characterization, Anders' impulsiveness versus Lily's overthinking nature (don't we always envy a little the people who can just jump into things without worrying about every single detail that could go wrong first?), Sol being the driving force best friend, Albus' inability to lie to save his life (the reddening ears' detail was so cute... :P), even Harry not wanting his children to take up dangerous careers (that sounds very much like Harry! I'm curious about Albus being an Auror, though... is that a secret? Lily obviously had no idea, and it's interesting considering that Albus is the one who can't keep secrets... also, poor Harry, for not wanting his kids to take risks, they all seem very keen to...)
So, they were there to destroy evidence? I mean, Anders was there to destroy evidence, Lily had no idea what they truly were there for... what a shock it must've been for her... especially if she'd done morally questionable things (as it sounds she did) in the name of the "greater good". There is a bit of comic relief in the image of Albus shouting "what the hell are you doing" in the phone, though... :P
Okay, but... what happened at the end there? How did Lily got sent back in time? I'm very, very curious to see where you take the story from here, and how this forced collaboration with Scorpius will turn out to be... I bet it's going to be fun to watch! :D
Wonderful opening chapter! Thank you so much for the swap!
Big snowball hug,
Chiara
Hi Jacqueline! Here for our swap :)
Ugh, I love these two. The tension and the banter and the stakes are all just so high that of course I can't help but love them. Their chemistry is off the charts and I even felt it in the beginning of this chapter, when Scorpius said that he'd give her more than just one syllabul if Lily met him that night. I'm not sure he was actually implying what I thought he was, but clearly they can't resist each other. And I can't help but wonder if Scorpius specifically asked her to meet him at the gym so he could conveniently show off with the kickboxing and punching bags and being shirtless and honestly, who could blame her :P
Okay, but I love how twisty this is getting with Lily knows what happens in 8 months and trying to kill Ander before that happens. Is she going to try and get close to him like she was before? Scorpius is definitely a complication in that matter but I also feel like the "we're not all sleeping with our partners" was kind of foreshadowing and I'm all :eyes: about it. Is that also kind of lowkey implying Scorbus? I wouldn't be mad about it tbh - makes it even messier, y'know?
I lowkey can't wait for Albus to find out. I mean, he's definitely going to find out but I have no idea what his reaction to all of this is going to be but I have a feeling he's going to surprise Lily but not Scorpius. Also Sol is really interesting to me too and I can't help but wonder how much she knows - if anything - and if she's going to turn into an ally or not to Lily. ALSO, I can't help but wonder if "the old Lily is dead" was an intentional Taylor reference, but even if it wasn't, I loved it all the same <3
I've said it before but your writing is so addictive and I love your descriptions so much - you really draw me in and I love Scorpius and Lily in pretty much every universe <3
Excellent chapter as always! Thank you for the swap!!
Hi Jacqueline! Here for our swap :)
So full disclosure, I'm not usually into the time travel trope but I'm a sucker for Lily/Scorpius and this whole premise was too intriguing to not read. You're really so so good at pulling me in within the first couple lines and I loved the slightly rough transitions - from being in Lily and Andres' flat to then being with Albus and Sol, to then being at work and the ballroom. It made everything feel fast-paced but not rushed; it actually kind of heightened the tension and I really loved that
I also loved how we thought we were getting this sweet story about how Lily wants to marry her boyfriend, but we're actually not getting it at all. Also I loved being confused about Scorpius being the "bad guy" in this fic, especially since I'm assuming he's going to be Lily's love interest later on -- I love stories where it's kinda grey and you're not sure who's good or not, and since we're in Lily's head with first person POV, we just kinda have to trust her (or not) and I think that's a super effective way to tell this story. There are already so many twists and points of intrigue that I really just want to know what's actually going on -- and why Lily was brought eight months prior to the betrayal and why she seems almost calm about it?
Your writing is honestly so addictive and I love it so much. I have so many questions -- like who Andres really is and what organization Lily works for and how she gets caught up in this mess and how they're actually going to (hopefully) solve the case and move forward
An excellent start to this! Looking forward to seeing how it plays out. Thanks for the swap ♥
Oh, wow, Jacquelin! This is quite a chapter! I love how you have inserted the major plot twists so quickly into the story line. Only in Chapter One, and already what I had assumed is turned on its head. Now I can say, "You know, I always had my suspicions about that Anders guy. He was too slick for my taste, too overbearing," as if I were a grandmother with 20/20 hindsight.
The first time I read this chapter, I felt a little confused because in the first half of the chapter I had to concentrate hard to pick up all the little clues as to what was going on (or so I thought, har har), and then all of a sudden everything I thought I knew wasn't so, and I had to start figuring everything out all over again.
You have quite a cast of characters and secret organizations here, and I might not have a complete grasp yet of who the good guys are and who the bad guys are. That business with the flames engulfing Lily and Scorpius sounded uber serious (reminded me of people being burned at the stake in medieval times), and then all of a sudden Lily is jerked back in time by eight months. How that happens is not explained right now, but I'm sure we'll find out in later chapters.
This is an exciting and imaginative story. I always admire people who can write thrillers like this, with so many plot twists and turns. I'll definitely read more!
