"There’s an impossibly large bra for him to sign in his hand but he pushes it back at the girl who's handed it to him.."
^^ I am cackling so hard at this image LOL. This is hysterical because, for one, Harry would be super fucking awkward about this. Especially with the knowledge that Hermione is nearby and Ginny is calling his name. They would never let him hear the end of it. Same with Ron. And I totally want this to become like an inside joke that they never let go and as a way to embarass Harry in future LOL.
I really love how you applied this prompt from the get go though. You definitely feel the pull of the crowd scrambling to get a piece of Harry and then whenever he sees Ginny and they're reunited it all just sort of fades away.
I absolutely love that you chose to show the difficulty that encompasses long distance relationships. I think in a fluff setting it is hard not to lay on the angst, but you balance it all very nicely. And then the jealousy. It was perfect, really.
Everything from amiable Rolf. To Harry feeling insecure because Ron and Hermione are getting more time together than Ginny and him. And then Ginny's remark about how she's always loved him and his insecurities are not founded like her other boyfriend's so he ought to be careful otherwise he'll lose her.
That ending though! It's a total *chef's kiss*! The line feels soft and languid and full of hope, in spite of the difficulties that have encompassed these two. I love it so much!
<3 Courtney
Also...TAG! (unless the gods have other plans)
Author's Response:Haha I enjoyed that line too! I just keep thinking that Harry and Ron, as eighteen years old who just saved the world, would've been extremely famous. Rolf was a sweetheart but Harry's known to be jealous and insecure - luckily Ginny's there to set him straight ;P thank you so much for coming by with this review.
<3 Quilly
Aw I love that James looks like Harry but with Ginny's eyes! Such sweet continuity from harry's growing up.
It's totally understandable that Ginny doesn't want to let James out of her sight, and I like how Harry immediately understands. They've been through so much together that it's hard to trust someobdy else with James' safety, but they have complete faith in each other.
Harry's so sweet just straightforwardly answering Ginny's questions and being very calm and reassuring. They've grown up so much!
And the ending's super lovely, with Harry making shushing noises that work on both Ginny and James!
Loved this! Jem xx
p.s. Tag!
Author's Response:I love that you mentioned the complete faith that they have in each other because that's 100% how I see it too. They've been through so much together and have learned to become what the other needs from them. Thank you for reviewing!
<3 Quilly
Quilly, I'm here for our swap!!
ARGGGGGHHHH this is so beautiful! And like my ovaries just spontaneously combusted, so. XD
I love how this turned into like a whole "Harry is a safe place" thing -- I loved the phrase "every inch of him a safe place." And it says volumes about your writing that you're able to have Ginny thinking this while still keeping her feeling in character, because we don't normally think of Ginny as 1) fretful/worrying or 2) seeking Harry's protection. But she's not seeking his protection for herself, it's for her child, and that makes sense because Ginny may have been bold and reckless with her own safety but that's lightyears away from the topic of her son's safety.
I just love how this turns into like an ode to Harry being their protector, Harry as something certain and comforting, and I especially loved their little exchange at the end where she's like, "Ok but no really, you'll keep him safe?" and Harry's like yes. <3
Loved this one so so much!! I can't wait for more Hinny fluff.
<3 Melanie
Author's Response:awwww i'm so glad you liked this chapter. i feel like Ginny's not vunerable too often but i felt like this is a time that would've made her so and of course harry would've understood and been there for her. thank you for reviewing!
- Quilly
omg tiny lil teddy and his tiny lil night sky filled with stars and the moon that harry and ginny created for him has my heart melting okayyyyy bye i'm just fluffy goo
:joy:
i promise i'm not that weird i just,,okay maybe i am but it's all good
i love how they argued (jokingly and lovingly of course) about how their relationship started, especially loved ginny mentioning the singing valentine because goddd that must have been super embarassing for her back in the day, but like in the previous chapter, i'm deeply enjoying how she manages to turn a lot of the things into banter and jokes and make things immediately lighter :D
of course, then there's the segue into the idea that she'll accept the harpies' offer, and she's worried about harry and his promises but i love that by the end of the chapter, it's so obvious to ginny that he's absolutely certain when he says he would always choose *her* -- there's no doubt in her mind at the end and that's just amazing, especially when she realises that the look he has about him when he's telling her that is the same one she'd seen before in things that were life or death, and idk, i guess that there's just something super romantic about that and i love it
kris
Author's Response:i had to include teddy because 1) i adore him and 2) i imagine harry would've made him a big part of his life. haha yes! that singing valentine needed to be brought up because that was golden in the most cringey sort of way & they've come far enough from then that they can both laugh at it. thank you so much for reviewing!
<3 quilly
heyy quilly, i'm here for our swap!
and this chapter made me go both AWWWW and also LOLOLOLO because ginny is just an a++++ character and you give her so much vividness and life and snarkiness and sneakiness and i just ,,can you tell how much i enjoyed that last thing she says to harry because i just did, *a lot*. i just really love the way she's always able to bring some sort of lightness to a situation (yes, i also love how that particular trait of hers ties into the title of the story as well -- not sure if that was on purpose but i love it either way), and joke around with harry and bring him back from moments where he gets kinda un-happy just because he's literally had enough of fame for like, a hundred lifetimes, right?
and who could blame him since he'd been famous since a tiny lil baby so to just have to suffer thorugh that forever is exhausting when all he wants to do after, yk, defeating the dark lord and saving the wizarding world is just chill out with his girlfriend instead of be stalked by paparazzi while trying to chill out with his girlfriend. give the guy a break, come onnn
anyhow all that to say is that i really loved how ginny managed to first get them away from the reporters and find this nice lil spot for them to hide out in (on?) and that despite the situation she'd managed to turn the situation into something positive -- the 'i hope it's always like this / us running together, never apart / i will always run to you / and i to you' were just amazing lines and they feel like this amazing promise and it's all just incredibly fluffy and a++++ chef's kiss i love it
kris
Author's Response:i'm so glad you picked up on the title! there's definitely a lot of ties to it, most of them involving ginny and harry making things for each other after everything they've gone through <3 and yes, poor kids, having to deal with fame. it's definitely not something they wanted/asked for but it sort of comes with the territory doesn't it? thank you so much for coming by with this wonderful review!
<3 Quilly
Swap time! :D <3
Aww, this is so beautiful! I love how you write this giving birth scene, I love the way you describe the love Ginny is feeling for little James, how immense and overwhelming it is! I love that James smiled so soon, because again that feels like the most James Potter thing ever! <3 I love how encouraging and adoring Harry is, how he feels a bit scared at first at the idea of holding his son (I can see that, holding babies is always scary, you feel like you might break these little things...) but how he does it perfectly when he tries, and how Ginny just knows that nothing bad could happen to her son if he is in her husband's arms! And yes, maybe Ginny's being a bit irrational with her fears, but I'm sure all mothers feel that way, and it's completely natural and understandable and so, so sweet! <3
This was absolutely emotional and stunning and so, so heartfelt and it really made me smile so much! And the use of the prompt, Ginny being so exausted after giving birth and kissing Harry while half asleep... it's so beautiful, too!
I just really, really loved this piece! <3 Thank you so much for the swap! <3
Big snowball hug,
Chiara
Author's Response:Thank you so much! I loved writing this scene and making Ginny a little more vunerable because overwhelming love can do that to you sometimes. I appreciate all of your kind words so much <3
- Quilly
Oh no I just realised this is the last uploaded chapter! And I want to find out what happens next!
Ginny wanting to be an embarrassing parent to get revenge on James for her pregnancy is so in character and I love it. I also love how although she's joking, she insists Harry tells her what's wrong.
'I've married a terrible bore whose only hobby consists of saving the world' - hahahahaha yes accurate.
I like the way you've brought in American politics here, and shown how globally the wizarding world has issues. It's really believable that Harry would struggle with this, too, after fighting so hard to get rid of one evil in the UK and then realising it's everywhere.
And that ending is gorgeous! It's so special that Harry has this love and lightness now that helps him cope with everything.
Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous! As always!
Jem xx
p.s. Tag!
Author's Response:I'm so glad you enjoyed the chapter <3 American/global politics play a role in my other fic so this was me kind of trying to tie in together. I'm glad you thought it believeable that Harry would continue on struggling because that's the way I feel about him too. Thank you for another wonderful review!
Love, Quilly.

Love, Quilly.
Whoop whoop Christmas in July! I really think you did a good job sort of showcasing that this is the "new normal," for the Weasleys. It's sad yet full of humor and hope. And that is what this family is all about.
I'm always a wreck about stories that remind us "Fred is dead," but this was a great balance of sadness, anger, and fluff. There were so many "funny/not funny, but you laugh anyway even though you don't mean to," sort of moments. And I think a lot of times that is what grief is for some people. And for a family like the Weasleys and for a character like Ginny, I think she would find some amusement in what Harry's saying. But I think she'd also be very stubborn about not wanting to show that she finds it amusing, because as you said "her mother can't stop crying long enough to come out of her bedroom," so it feels a bit inappropriate to share in a laugh, all things considered.
I really liked how you explored her feelings about being left behind. I feel like as the youngest and only girl, she's always experienced this, for a variety of reasons. So it feels apt that she'd take out some frustrations through cooking and that it would all go horribly wrong.
I also liked that Harry's "taking things slow" with her. Though there's only a year between them, it wouldn't be totally creepy for them to get it on...but there's a level of respect in the waiting that is lovely. We can't help but stan such chivalry. ;)
Another excellent drabble!
<3 Courtney
TAG (unless the gods have other plans)
Author's Response:Fred's death is one of the most heartbreaking moments in canon for me. It's too hard to even write about this so this my way of sort of touching on it without making a complete mess of my emotions. At this points, it's been some months since his death and everyone's gone back to normal life but the grief still raw at times and that's what I was trying to show so I'm glad to hear that you thought all the feelings balanced out well. Thank you so much for this review!
- Quilly
Quilly! Back for some more Hinny goodness! :)
I really think you captured a lot of the struggles of a long distance relationship so well. And I really enjoy how cool and collected Ginny is. I really love that interpretation of her being mostly even kilter, but having something of a "mean streak," if necessary/under totally warranted circumstances. I thought your application of this prompt was super sweet. They're arguing and Harry uses it as a way to get back in her good graces. And then they sort of just have this chill moment with one another where they relax against each other and have a discussion about the future, which includes them in the long run. Which again, totally sweet.
I also really love how you showed the passage of time in this. The closing paragraphs are excellent and give it that tone of just sort of "going through the motions" of life, because life without Harry is worth living, but in summer Ginny feels this added joy at being reunited with him again. It was lovely.
Another great drabble!
<3 Courtney
TAG! (unless the gods have other plans)
Author's Response:I 100% see Ginny as someone who's nice-until-you-try-me haha I didn't really think I had much of a chance to show that in this collection much because she's with Harry and she's fluffy/forgiving with him so I think it's wonderful that you still picked up on it. It's an important part of her character I envision for her. Also the fact that life is worth living without Harry but better with Harry is very Ginny, and I tried to subtly show that in later chapters, so the fact that you already saw it here makes me doubly happy! thank you for coming by with his wonderful review!
- Quilly
And back again! Tag!
That opening conversation is gorgeous. "I like it when you kiss me anywhere." "I meant the house." So sweeeeet!!
Love the idea the Fleamont Potter had extravagent taste. It's interesting that Harry and Ginny don't seem to be making their own plans for the house. I guess they're still very young and it's probably exciting to be living somewhere so big, and maybe Harry would be ambivalent about changing things when it's his heritage. But if there are things they don't like, I hope they feel confident to change them and make it their own.
Absolutely love Ginny being convinced it'll be a boy even though her brothers have now had daughters and she herself is a Weasley girl. We know she's right though!
Haha Harry immediately rushing off to get beans because Ginny has mentioned she feels like some. I definitely see this for him. He wants to make sure she has everything she wants. But then when he comes back it's for something else!!
"Please be as sure of me as I am of you" is a gorgeous proposal and feels very Harry.
Another wonderful chapter! Thank you for writing it! Jem xx
Author's Response:I think Harry and Ginny will make it their own, slowly. Over all, though, I don't think they're the kind of people who dreamt about living in a mansion, so living there now feels a bit much to them. The appeal is in the memory of the Potters rather than the building itself. As their family grows, however, the manor starts to feel less large and more like their vision of a home. I'm glad you felt liekt he proposal felt very like Harry! That means a lot!
- Quilly
Well THIS is adorable! As usual. I don't know why I'm still surprised by how smiley this story makes me.
I love Harry just casually owning several properties he can sell for some extra cash. Sounds nice.
Potter Manor! How exciting! I always wondered what happened to James' family home. It feels like their must be lots of memories somewhere. Surely when Harry's grandparents died everything didn't just disappear. I love the way you've introduced it here, and I'm so pleased Ginny manages to show Harry that it's important.
Ginny's so sweet reading out facts about the house and about Harry's relatives that he never knew. I like that they've got their whole lives to find out more if they want to.
You've written Harry's emotions as they approach brilliantly. It must be such a difficult thing to do, but something that will bring him lots of happiness.
And that last line is just perfect!
Loved it, as always. Jem xx
p.s. Tag!
Author's Response:Awe thank you so much! As an orphan, I imagine that Harry's feelings about his family remains a conflict for him even as he ages, but I think he's at an age where he can start accepting that he belonged to a family and that he's deserving of what they've given him even though he never met them. Thank you so much for coming by with his review!
- Quilly
"I married a terrible bore whose only hobby is saving the world" -- This is so true, so Ginny, so supportive, so them as a team, and also so sad when you think about it. Could Harry ever truly rest post-canon? When injustices like this rise up again? He's done enough, but even aside from wanting to do the right thing, I feel like he'd maybe think all his efforts and losses were for nothing if something like this was allowed to happen again. Plus, even if Harry did say, "That's it, I'm out," you have to imagine there'd be backlash. Because people are just going to expect it of him. :
You do tired, I'm-sick-of-this yet doggedly determined Harry so well.
<3 Melanie
(tag!)
Author's Response:I definitely think there'd been backlash, but I think Harry could handle the backlash better than he could handle his own disappointment in himself. I do feel terrible for him because he has such impossible expecations of himself but they're such a deep-rooted part of his personality that I don't see it ever going away.
hahaha saying i do a good i'm-sick-of-this yet doggedly determined Harry well is the biggest compliment and I'm loving that desciption of him! lol Thank you for your review!
- Quilly
Hi, Quilly! Tag! (Assuming I make it in time... :P)
Yes, Harry definitely needs to find a better hobby... :P
I remember the references in In this darkness, how Harry never intervened because Ginny was pregnant and he needed to stay by his family... and honestly, Ginny's not wrong, he can't fix all the world's problems, even if he wanted to... he can't control it all... but I can understand his conflict, I can see how he would feel guilty for allowing evil to spread, for not doing enough to stop it before it goes too far. I can see how these news would bring back bad memories. How he'd want to do something to protect the innocents being targeted. It must be all so hard for him... :/
Your use of the prompt is, once again, so clever! Ginny is such a great listener, I love the way she just lets him speak, and I love the way she seems to understand all the allusions, too! Harry needs her so much, and you always show that so strongly! <3
I also really love how Harry feels about Ginny having to carry all the weight of the pregnancy, and how he tries so hard to alleviate her fatigue, even if there's not a lot he can do. It's so sweet! <3
It was such a wonder, the first time they felt James move. He hasn't stopped moving since then, not even for a second. Why does this feel the most James Potter thing ever? :D
Wonderful chapter! <3
Snowball hug,
Chiara
Author's Response:Oh I love that you remembered this from In This Darkness! I agree, Harry can't control the whole world, even though it's hard for him to admit/accept.
I definitely wrote that line with James Potter in mind. I feel like he was a little troublemaker, even from the womb. ;P Thank you for the review!
- Quilly
Tag! I'm always excited to have an excuse to come back to this story (not that I need one - I love it).
THIS CHAPTER! It just made me feel so many things. I love every chapter in this collection, but you have a particular talent for taking some of the big moments and showing how they fit into the everyday.
I love the idea that they never disappoint eachother. They might not be able to be together all the time, but they know what the important moments are. Harry arranging for Ginny's whole family to travel to Australia is adorable!
I really felt for Ginny waiting for Harry to wake up, knowing that he's going to be supportive but still dreading it because she thinks she's going to make him sad. She knows him so well but in some ways she doesn't know him at all. I think it's because she's seen him give up happiness to be noble before, so she's worried he'll do it again now.
But obviously Harry's not sad! 'I already love it so much, knowing there's a piece of you in there.' Just lovely! And classic Harry not thinking about the fact there's a piece of himself in there too and just focusing on Ginny.
Excited to see what's coming next for them and their family!
Jem xx
Author's Response:I really enjoyed writing this chapter so I'm so glad you liked it! You're absolutely right saying that she's seen him give up happiness to be noble before and that's her worry now, that's exactly what I was imaging going on in her head. Thank you for the review!
- Quilly
Well I'm a dumbass and thought I reviewed this chapter, but clearly I DID NOT. So I fail.
This is a lovely start for these two! It's intimate, poetic, and also wholly encapsulates who they are as characters. Sex as a bridge back to someone and reality is a tricky trope to get right. But you definitely get it right x's 1000 in this instance! I love how they come together and their coming back together also leads Harry to come back to reality in some ways, or at least, this foreshadows that happening.
This was a great turn from angst to fluff, and I definitely look forward to reading more of your take on Hinny! Well done you for getting me to like them so much when I'm always kind of MEHH about them. :)
<3 Courtney
Author's Response:Awww I'm so glad you enjoyed this, especially since you're not a Hinny fan! It means a lot <3 Thank you for reviewing!
- Quilly
omfg, OF COURSE the tabloids would say stuff like that -- never mind that Ginny is not some rando and everyone knows she and Harry have always been it for each other, someone somewhere is going to stir shit, and once again I am thinking of how that kind of fame and (often pretty malicious) attention is going to affect this growing family.
But as to the manor -- don't worry, Harry, you will fill those halls with wee Potters, and anyway you went to school in a giant castle, you'll be fine in a large manor with lots of fun rooms and nooks and crannies.
<3
Author's Response:Are the tabloids worse than Voldermort? Probably not. But they're all sorts of evil in their own way.
Thank you so much for alllll these reviews! OMG, you have no idea how excited they made me! You're so appreciated!
- Quilly
Ahhhh love this so much. That Ginny and the manor itself could help Harry see the good in it, not just the pain, and that it's a wonderful way to be attached to a family history he never got to experience (and like, if he'd grown up knowing his family, keeping the real estate wouldn't be weird at all either, so why should it be here?)
<3
Author's Response:Exactly! I think he has a hard time feeling like he belongs to a family he never knew but he absolutely, 100% does.
- Quilly
I'M NOT CRYING, YOU'RE CRYING.
The way he says her name when he wakes up. The way they make things better for each other. This is love and I love it.
"It's yours, by the way" kjshfgajk;sg CANON GINNY.
<3
Author's Response:Aww thank you! This was one of my favorite chapters to write. I'm glad you got that line! Insecure Ginny is not typical Ginny but after she realizes all is well with Harry, she's back to herself ;P
- Quilly
You know I was going to ldsjfh;kjsagdfkh over the secret start of this one, lollll
“Okay, listen up!” The front door opens and closes with a bang, Percy standing in front of it with a panicked expression in his face. “I’ve brought a girl.”
I fucking lost it, lmaooooo
<3
Author's Response:Bahaha I'm glad you enjoyed Percy!
- Quilly
omg omg omg
First of all, just... the tightness of your writing, packing so much into scenes like this, is amazing. You said so much here.
Jesus, Harry, you are simply too good for this world. His offer to cover their bills really does feel so much like him. And this entire time he behaves in exactly the way I'd expect him to. This is such a great post-canon Harry-Dudley interaction.
Ugh, that ending! *sob*
Author's Response:Harry really is too good. I don't think he even realizes he's being too good. He's just like, this is easy for me, so why not? I'm glad you enjoyed Harry-Dudley coming together. I needed to closure with the Dursleys.
- Quilly
*flails*
Yes yes yes to your author's note. I'm so glad you went there with this one. How amazingly you captured the atmosphere here. Perfection. And Petunia is... urgh.
<3
Author's Response:Petunia will always be Petunia. She's got her own demons but a woman who treats a child the way she treated her own nephew has a small chance at redemption.
- Quilly
Omg, the idea of your happiness with someone making it hard for you to sleep, rather than the opposite as we usually see. And that Ginny is still so -- in her own, deeper, more grown way -- still star-struck by Harry, not because of his fame but because he's Harry.
"It’s not the sort of happiness that ever gets comfortable, just bearable." -- LOVELY
<3
Author's Response:My headcanon Ginny will always be Harry's #1 fangirl. Lol
- Quilly
So glad to see Harry leveraging his worth in this way, yes! Best part is you absolutely know that if the Ministry had said no, Harry would have made good on his ultimatum and said, "Bye, then."
<3
Author's Response:Yeah, I don't go into his work much here, but if he had to choose between Ginny (who's by far, the best thing about his life currently) or work (which is just a bunch darkness), he's going to go for Ginny <3
- Quilly
Oh, so perfect -- yes, Harry, get out of there! What a perfect little scene. Also I enjoyed how both Ron and Hermione actually seemed to be in their element, which makes total sense!
<3
Author's Response:Lol Harry got out of there fast than a Slug Club party ;p
So fun, so sweet, and love the inclusion of Ron and Hermione here who are also so perfect. Ron cheering so hard for his sister -- my heart!
<3
Author's Response:I love adding in a bit of Ron whenever I can so I'm really glad you enjoyed that!
- Quilly
