Hi Abbi!! Here for our swap :)

So obviously it's been a bit since I finished Warpaint, but as usual you were able to draw me right in. Chatfics are honestly so much fun because you can really explore the different relationships and give more depth to the characters than you can in a POV fic, especially the side ones. I really loved watching Tammi and Scorpius' relationship unfold - we know they're solid in the main fic of Warpaint, but it was so cute to see them get together and admit their feelings. I laughed out loud at Scorpius wanting to be better than Albus and Bee at his feelings because it probably wouldn't be that hard to accomplish XD

You've done a great job at bringing these characters to life through text, and it was so refreshing that Scorpius wanted to hang out with Tammi just as much as she wanted to hang out with him. And that he was comfortable talking about his parents and family drama with her. And them rushing to see each other was so cute too. And I did LOL at the Madi bit in the beginning of the chapter too, like they're clearly not friends but it was sweet that she offered to help her anyway, and then it turns out Tammi didn't need much help after the initial meetup, which was nice too

Ooh how have I not noticed a new chapter of this one! I love a good chatfic and your ability to write humor and heart through this dialogue is really great! I love that Tammi is "headband girl." Also the way Tammi and Scor sort of become fast friends and then eventually bond over Gobstones (though it's hilarious Tammi intentionally pretends to be bad at it, so he notices her). I really like how you then deep dive into the complexities of Scor's family history and how he conceals it from people. I mean, I totally get it. Stuff like that is embarrassing, but it seems he intends to learn from the mistakes of his ancestors and try and do better. Also Tammi and him are super cute together, flirty and supportive and sweet. I ship it!

 

Another great chapter and this piece is such a fun companion to Warpaint! :)

ahhhh i love this!! i love how it's just bee and freddie trying to break james and lou up over and over and over again haha, and each time they succeed and then they fail and they succeed and then they fail - i know in other stories in this universe it's not a funny thing, but in this it works so well as funny: the repetition, the fact that even we as the reader know they're going to get back together and bee and fred are going to have to find another plan :P 

 

bee and freddie are such ridiculously chaotic friends haha i love them so much in this!! i don't remember their friendship much from warpaint but i love how in this they have so much depth to a real friendship - even if bee says it's not really a friendship haha - and even if they're sort of friends because they share a goal :P it's just all the little things: the way they tease each other - and how bee is comfortable with fred teasing her - even joking about fake-dating each other (which i feel you gotta be comfortable with someone to do yk??). it really shows a different side to bee to the beginning of warpaint too which i really love :) 

 

all of their plans are so much chaos mahaha - i mean, rumours, fake-dating, getting a hotter couple, convincing peeves to help... they're all so high school as well: like, they're exactly the kind of plans that you come up with in senior school thinking that they're super clever and super cool haha :P also freddie and bee fake-dating would have been cool but also probably a bit terrifying - because then i can imagine they really would become proper good friends and bee would probably freak out :P 

 

ahhh this was so so fun to read, i loved it :D :D

I haven't had the chance to read the full story this is from, but I really enjoyed it as its own stand alone piece! I really got the sense of these two characters and they are a fucking trip in the best of ways! The way he changed the group name to inform her that the plan derailed XD and also that he said you gotta back yourself up XD It's the self-love for me XD Seriously, this whole story had be grinning from ear to ear with their mischief and hi-jinks. That they would pay Peeves to get involved cause everyone likes money XD Really really had fun reading this!

Okay i am very here for dms dedicated to breaking people up almost as much as i love dms dedicated to getting people together so i am here for this from the start!!

“Chaotic, i’m in” feels like something i should get tattooed on my forehead. I would also send someone a photo of a cat regardless of if theyre a cat person, i feel a deep kinship to fredzster

Also freddie changing the chat name constantly is very lovely, *i* think theyre great friends even if bee wants to say theyre just allies :P

Although this weird on off again thing doesnt seem super secure, so im not surprised but like daaaaaamn thats ice cold to start a rumour to break up your best friend and her… bf(?) and then bet on them getting back together immediately after

Awwwww i like this, theyre super sweet (if a little diabolical) and i think this is the perfect companion/prequel to warpaint!! Amazing chapter abbi and im so glad that we did this swap!

so i loved this. bee and freddie are absolutely hilarious together, and both of their personalities really shine through. that can be difficult to accomplish over text but you've really nailed it here, and i love that freddie keeps changing the usernames and the groupchat names until bee changes it back at the end. i snorted when she freaked out that he called her 'basic bee' because of course that would piss her off -- and i love the fact that she tried to offer peeves money and her reaction is "everyone likes money!!!" because it's so quintessential bee, especially in the beginning

and the fact that they're teaming up to try and break up james and lou; incredible. their brainstroming is wonderful, and it's so easy to get lost in their banter. i'm very excited to see where all this scheming takes their friendship, although we know how it ends in warpaint. i'm still eager to see how it's all going to workout in chatfic form :)

ooh, and fake dating, haha, i love how that's plan b. honestly, i just love them a lot and think you've done a great job with the setup of this. i'm super excited to see the behind-the-scenes actions here!

This was really entertaining, I'm still not an expert, but I think you really used the style effectively here! :D

Poor Fred, being caught into Bee's scheming... although not really poor, because he was actually enjoying it, wasn't he? :P I love how their big plan didn't last a week, and how all their other attempts failed, too, and in the end even Bee couldn't be bothered anymore (they should've probably left them alone to begin with... :P) I do wonder how the fake dating would've played out if they actually attempted it... it would be so much fun! :D

I think it's also very funny how you played with the usernames and chatname, it's always interesting to see how people play with those and I think you used that very neatly! :)

Oh, and I want to see the kitten pic... keep brightening Bee's world, Freddie! :D

lololol I love that this is just a neverending circle of James and Lou getting back together while Bee and Fred are like wtf??? I love the frustration, and how Fred just sort of passively announced the first time the plan failed by changing the group chat name back to "opoeration break up j-lou" hahaha. Also that Bee essentially bet against herself by betting that they'd get back together. :joy:

 

They're fighting a losing battle here. I love how we can see what a toxic but unstoppable dumspter fire J-lou is, even though we never see them on the page here.

 

The dynamic between Bee and Fred is so fun, like when he playfully changes her to basicbee, hahahaha.

 

OMG and Bee offering Peeves money!! :joy: Right, what is he going to do with it.

lolo i love that it's bee and freddie weasley who team up in this mission to break up two people who are bad for each other aka lou and james and are then in turn bad/annoying to their friends/cousins who have to put up with their drama which is, yk, kinda dark and twisty but bee likes it that way hahah which i mean on the one hand a valid idea because they're bad for each other but on the other hand meddling never ends up going well or how you intended it to oops

 

which is obviously what happened with bee's and freddie's plan so they'll just have to continue suffering but i honestly just really really loved the kinda friendship teasing thing between them - i feel like it was totally platonic? i think? but they have such great friend/partner in crime/ally chemistry between them that you managed to show through the texts that i really enjoyed reading it! like even if what they were trying to do was a lil questionable but like i am also here for the drama sooooo :D

 

also fucking loved freddie sending her a picture of a cat and that comment about how bee might need some fluff in her life, that made me crack up and love freddie for it because it's true

 

and bee's snark is absolutely wild and i love her and how she's all like yeahhh i'm the queen bee and i'm embracing that title in full seriousness although in a sarcastically snarky way which is just a+++ grand and i loved it

 

(her trying to give peeves money is like the best thing ever tho i think i died a little at that hahah)

 

i know you mentioned being a lil ehhh?? unsure about writing a chatfic but i really really think you did an awesome job in this one, i just loved reading it and the way it was actually more about the allyship/friendship/chemistry between freddie and bee while also having a plotty thing and idk it was super fun to read and funny and like it really expanded on characters you write in warpaint because it's a different side to them, yk? it was just super cool

Ooh plotting via text. I chuckled at the "this can't come back to me," that Bee sends, because, let's hope not with the way these texts are self-incriminating hah. It was a great instance of irony though. 

 

But the dissension of this plan haha. It's definitely amusing to see Bee lose control of her friend (sorry if they're more in Warpaint, I don't know if I got there yet). And yeah, sometimes you can do all the meddling in the world but some people are going to find their way back to one another. I guess the rumor piece of it wasn't strong enough to spoil the J-Lou (love that ship name btw hah). 

 

LOL OH BEEE trying to offer Peeves money. That was hysterical. What IS Peeves gonna do with money though?

 

BREDDIE ahh...I'm dying here LOL! This is really fun and hilarious, Abbi! 

 

The progression of this was delightfully full circle, plot wise, amidst the chaos of the chatfic. But I believe that there is some level of chaos to chat fics simply because texting, especially with an urgency can lend to people typing over one another, etc. And I definitely got that nice flow of chaotic and evenly flowing energy that comes with reading a chatfic. I don't know if that makes sense, but I guess what I'm trying to say is that I feel like chatfics ebb and flow and you did that very nicely here with this. I also think you ended on a strong note, so again, you had sort of a plot in mind to make this a well rounded chapter, and it shows. :) 

 

The changing of their usernames was great. You really can pick up on the teasing nature of their relationship. And given that they're going on this plot to break up their friends together, they obviously trust one another loads. Especially given Bee's earlier comment of "this can't come back to me," when it so easily could. 

 

Anyway, this was totally enjoyable and it makes me want to carry on sooner with Warpaint. :)
