Hello, here for the galazy reviewing event :)
Blaise is an interesting character with a ton of potential so it was really fun to get to see your headcanon for him. I love how he's so unbothered by the battle and everything going on. I think it's because there is a feeling there but everyone was super passionate about fighting for voldemort when they really weren't. it's interesting that he feels he is going to leave them to it.
I think this narrator makes him feel like very level headed person. perhaps wise beyond his years here. like he's literally sitting around playing cards and drinking fire whisky. there is something very pureblood about that. I think he's probably had a lot to deal with because he thinks rather maturely too. I loved seeing this piece because it's a completely unique prospective on what happened there and totally twisted that battle seen on it's head. I love the ending which his main reaction is to get a shower and coffee though admittedly he does share a thought for others along the way.

Hi there, here to voyage for the galazy review event!!
I love Blaise so much and I am so glad I stumbled upon this!
The way that he is bored at the Battle of Hogwarts is...so Blaise, lol. And he is trying to see beneath Daphne's robes, even in this moment. The gall. I love how he is just blaming Draco for everything, he just gets right to the point. But it is hard for even him to talk about. I kind of feel like this is his deflection mechanism, and you illustrate that so well with the way he trails off on certain things.
Oh shoot, he came right out and said it. Even though he's a Pureblood, I guess he realizes that this is too far. And even Theo seems on his side, if quietly <3
I like how you have him sort of passively living through the war, waking up to the good news. But it might not all be good news, as he still doesn't think that Draco really deserves a cell in Azkaban :/ I feel like Blaise genuinely needs a good hug. And probably that shower too
Thank you for this! It's such a great new perspective

Hi!! I came across this story whilst wandering through the archives and realised it sounded familiar...and then it dawned on me that I had read it - thank you for the opportunity to beta-read - but I'd not yet left a review!
There are so few stories out there fetauring Blaise as the protagonist, so it's really refreshing to read this one-shot again and familiarise myself with this take on his character. We know so little about him from canon - only superficial aspects such as his superiority and apparently 'high' standards ("difficult to please"). I like that here, he comes across as not really knowing what outcome he wants, and I find that a perfectly natural reaction for someone who is 17 or 18 - the vast majority of people of that age aren't really sure what they want out of life, are they? Maybe he seems uncaring, but I think he probably does care; he's just not showing it outwardly, and sometimes acting detached or apathetic is a form of self-protection. Considering that he Apparates and knocks on his own front door because Flooing home has had 'consequences' in the past - ie he's crashed in on something he wishes he'd never seen (!), his life experiences may have taught him to put on a facade, maybe?
I like how he offers Theo a hand if it's needed, because Theo might be left without his father, or on the 'wrong' side after the war ends, and the touches of humour (the dig at Hufflepuff) bring a light-hearted element to what could be a heavy situation.
Great job writing this! I enjoyed reading it again and noticing things that I hadn't the first time I read it :)

Author's Response:Hi Pins! Thank you for beta reading this, and thank you for the review! I see Theo and Blaise as good friends, partly because neither of them likes Draco all that much. Yes, I feel that Blaise definitely puts up a facade of indifference, and that's partly for self-protection. And yes, Blaise has definitely seen things he'd rather not have when he's just come straight home...
I am so sorry for being so late with your review!
I haven't read much from Blaise's perspective. Actually, come to think of it, I don't think I've read any fics from Blaise's perspective other than this fic. He's a bit snarky, and, as you stated in your author's note, a snob. It is interesting, looking at a small part of the war from his perspective, especially since we don't see much from the Slytherins in canon. One thing I really like is the sentence: 'Draco was notoriously all mouth and no wand' because that's a really good way to describe Draco, and it definitely seems like something that Blaise would say.
Thank you so much for suggesting this to me, and thank you for writing it! Hope you have a nice day!

Author's Response:Thank you for your review! And apologies for taking such a long time to get back to you. I have a soft spot for Blaise and a lot of head canon for him. Because of his name, I see him as part Italian and that he sees himself as above everything going on in the British wizarding world. And by this point, he and Theo Nott have both had their fill of Draco...
