Ahhhhh how have I not reviewed this already?? This is so clever and fun. The amount of thought you put into it, with all the books and how the character interact with one another over the books and ratings!

 

I really don't know what is my favorite thing here. I'm just going to list everything that got a good giggle out of me.

 

Harry being "Chosen One" and "Master of Death" lmao, yes he totally would

 

Ron roasting Hermione for giving Lockhart's book 3 stars

 

Luna asking if it's a mistake when Hermione gives Xeno's book 1 star and then Hermione ups it to 2 stars, lmao

 

Harry commenting "lol" when Ron adds Hogwarts: A History (hahahahahaha, idk, maybe that part is my absolute favorite)

 

Hermione getting annoyed that Ron and Harry are rating Skeeter's book 1 star when they haven't read it

 

And obviously everyone in the group chat like, "Gross, please keep this weird foreplay to yourselves."

 

This is such an amazingly fun read. <3

haha i love what you did with the untranslatable word prompt - hermione discovering goodreads and then forcing everyone else in the group chat to join so they could all do goodreads stuff together was nice…at first…and then it grew into hilarious and absurd in the best possible way!

 

i loved the way that ron kept saying that she doesn’t need more books and then transferred over some of that to actual goodreads comments on reviews, especially once it became obvious that hermione absolutely does not care about the number of books she owns and literally can’t stop buying and wanting more and goodreads was quickly feeding her obsession which makes for a hilarious story!

 

it was also super cool how you created all the magical titles that we didn’t see in canon, really original and just a super nice touch to the story!

 

the voices of everyone in the group chat was also spot on, especially loved how obvious it was that hermione was…reluctant about luna and her choice of books hahah but all in all this is such a funny, feel good story and i’m really glad i read it!

Hi there! Here to review this for my challenge! I hope to have things judged w/the winning prizes done with the next few weeks (we'll see if I stick to that plan lol).

I thought this was an incredibly clever idea for fulfilling your word prompt! I felt like you captured each character’s unique personality through the chat, from their usernames to the tone of their text messages. And to have them discover Goodreads is just hysterical. I thought you utilized the platform so well and created so many unique titles and authors, some canon and some original that felt like they belonged in this universe, so well done there!

I love Ron’s angry tirades through texts on how Hermione does not need more books. I feel like Goodreads is a vehicle for things to really get out of hand if you have something of a book buying addiction and you show this here. I think the fact that they also found wizarding books on Goodreads is really interesting too. 

This had me cackling:

Roonil Wazlib: we r going 2 need a 4th bookcase soon. 1 for each year of marriage. 

 

Roonil Wazlib: we cant keep going @ this rate

 

Hermininny: We’ve been married for five years. 

And hey, like it’s totally not a knock on Ron. I too, sometimes forget how long I’ve been with my spouse lol. Time is a weird thing and we don’t always think in such specific terms about it. But anyway, I loved this particular injection of humor here so much.

I thought you did a great job applying your word to this piece and this was a great chat fic! Thank you so much for entering this into my first ever challenge!
