Before getting into the story itself, I was intrigued by the AU scenario you've set up. I imagine Harry would have had a much happpier childhood in this timeline, and he and Dudley would have gotten along much better in this improved environment. I guess I gotta read some of your other stories now to dive into it more!
Nobody's heard from Cass...given all the dangerous things that can randomly happen in this magical universe, that would certainly be cause for concern. Jumping right into an impromptu rescue mission before you know all the facts? That is keeping with the finest of Potter traditions and one should expect nothing less.
But of course, all is not what it seems. The whole thing was fun, but I particularly enjoyed the fallout scene and seeing Harry fit right into the disapointed older sibling role. You could feel the typical dripping comtempt when Malfoy walked in, but it seems Cass must be taming him if he's refraining from pressing charges instead of insisting that his father will hear of this. Wedding bells on the horizon? I can only imagine what kind of shenanigans this crew will get up to during the planning process.
This was a really fun read! Good job!

Author's Response:Hi, James!
Thank you for stopping by! :)
Glad you liked the AU scenario here! Definitely a better environment for poor Harry to grow up in, even if not a perfect one :P I actually only have one other fic in this universe, which is the story of how Regulus and Petunia got together in the first place, but who knows, maybe one day I'll expand the universe some more... :P
Well, yeah, I suppose there is a possibility that Cass is actually in some kind of danger... but jumping right into a rescue mission is not very clever either... but yeah, I guess it runs in the family, lol! :P
Ahahah! Glad you liked poor Harry as the disappointed older brother! Cass is definitely having a taming effect on Malfoy, lol! Wedding bells on the horizon, yeah! You can bet this lot will get into more trouble! :P
Glad you enjoyed this little fic and that you found it amusing! :D
Snowball hug,
Chiara
Hey, Chiara!
Sorry for the late reply, but my first review got accidentally deleted. Thanks for swapping with me!
I don’t think I’ve read a Regulus/Petunia fic before, but after this fic, I might just have to go read the rest of the series. Thank you, by the way, for the overview of the children in the notes. I do love how Dudley still has the name Dudley, even in a different universe. He’s definitely a Slytherin.
And they still live in Privet Drive! I wonder how Regulus is taking living in Privet Drive, especially with all of the nosy neighbors. I don’t really get a chance to read much fic with Regulus in it, especially not when he’s alive and, presumably, older, so this is intriguing. Totally makes sense that Petunia is the one who’s proud of bby Sirius going into medicine, while Regulus doesn’t quite get it.
Yes, Harry is totally an authority figure. I mean, he’s an Auror in this story, so he’s an actual authority figure, but he’s also older than these two, which makes him a familial authority figure. I wonder what Cassiopeia and Dudley fought about.
Okay, so there’s a flashback and then the present, when Harry is lecturing his cousins. And Draco?? Oooooh, this is going to be interesting.
...I’m starting to think that Draco and Cassiopeia are secretly dating or something because he’s in her house. Time to see if I was right.
Draco’s hurt?? The suspense! I hope we find out what happens!
Oh, they’re definitely on a date. Poor Draco, getting injured when he was just trying to have a nice dinner. And he was going to propose?? I feel so bad for him, and I hope bby Lily and bby Sirius learn from this experience.
This was wonderful, and I will have to go check out the rest of this series. Thank you for swapping, and I hope you have a lovely day!

Author's Response:Hi! Thank you so much for swapping with me! :D
Ahahah! No, I don't think Regulus/Petunia is a common pairing at all... they are fun together, though! :P Ahahah! Yes, Dudley is 100% a Slytherin, am I right? ;)
Oh, I didn't even think about the nosy neighbours, although that's an interesting point! Definitely not something Regulus would be enthusiastic about... :P (I need to write more in this universe, so many things that can be explored!!!) And yes, Petunia would be super proud of her little doctor! And Regulus would just not get it... weird muggles... :P
I love Harry as a point of reference and an authority figure. And yes, he totally is for his younger cousins in this story! :D I actually have no idea why Dudley and Cass fought, but you can be sure it was something absolutely silly... (or maybe it was about Draco? Mmmh... yeah, that's probably it... :P)
This was written for the flashback challenge (among other things) and I thought alternating the flashbacks with the present was a fun way to write the story/keep the mystery as it unfolds :P
Draco and Cassiopeia secretly dating, you say? Mmmh, maybe? :P
Yes, Draco's hurt... poor man... :P
Ahahah! Lily and Sirius (especially Lily) should learn to think before they act... maybe they'll learn from this experience... or maybe not... :P
So glad you enjoyed this little, silly fic! Thank you so much again for the swap and the lovely review! <3
Chiara
I am SO glad I stumbled upon this story, because the opening just got me all excited with the mention of muggle medicine and healing!! Thanks for the introduction to the characters prior to the story - Petunia and Regulus are right up there with the rarest of pairs, but I'd happily see her with anyone other than Vernon, so I'm jumping right on that Pegulus ship! And the thought of Harry growing up without a childhood of abuse is infinitely better than what was cooked up for him in the original stories - I presume he was well-loved instead of hated here, right?
Anyway. Considering Sirius is a squib, I think his dad might be more supportive and understanding about his career choice - I'm sue Sirius would use a wand, if only he could. Siblings are THE WORST for disturbing important revision sessions. Lily is not going to let things lie until she's got to the bottom of the mystery, is she?! Haha - I love the sibling dynamics at play here! Lily does sound worried, though - I hope nothing serious has happened to Cass.
Never mind what Draco Malfoy is doing, going through Cass's wardrobe - what on earth possessed Lily and Sirius to look for their sister in there??! Or were they looking for clues such as missing clothes?! OMG, how funny!! I'm guessing Lily disillusioned Sirius so that Draco didn't spot them. I wonder what she turned him into...
But - actually - what WAS Draco looking for??
The switching between flashbacks and present is really well done. I can't imagine how humiliating it must have been for Sirius to be sitting hand-cuffed in his older cousin's office, getting interrogated like that!! And Harry must have felt pretty awkward about it too - being Head Auror and having part of your family arrested - not cool at all!! OMG, just WHAT have they got up to - aggression, damage to property, obstruction of justice?
Okay, so after discovering Draco in Cass' wardrobe, the twins decide to break into Malfoy Manor? Gutsy move, but not particularly wise - surely there'll be wards and security...and PEACOCKS!!! OMG, I'm dying!!! That's such a comical genius use of the peacocks chasing them!! I bet they weren't expecting that!
Oh dear!! That was a bit of misjudgement on Lily's part! And chandeliers are expensive things to repair or replace - yikes! Very lucky to get away without charges being pressed, but it sounds like they got Draco good and proper if he's limping and covered in bandages. I'm glad that Cass found it in her heart to forgive them. I can see more friction in their future, haha!!
Three months social services sounds like quite a lot but I suppose they could have ended up with a prison sentence, so quite lenient in comparison. The fact that their parents started arguing about whose genes were responsible for the trouble that the twins had caused made me LOL!
Did Sirius ever get around to taking his Anatomy exam, by the way?
This story was so much fun; I absolutely loved it and it made me giggle!! I'll definitely check out the rest of the Tuney/Reg verse soon <3

Author's Response:Hi!!! <3
Ah, I'm so happy you picked this one to review! It's a silly fic, but one I had so much fun with! :D I'm glad you liked the opening, and the references to medicine! It's not my field, but I thought it would suit Sirius well! :) And yeah, Petunia/Regulus is an unusual ship, but it does make sense in a way? And anyone would've been better than Vernon! And, well, maybe they wouldn't have made the perfect family for Harry, either, but they would have at least taken proper care of him! <3
Regulus is still a pureblood who doesn't quite understand "Muggle nonsense" :P He could be a bit more supportive of Sirius' choices for sure, but he would totally make a comment like that, right? :P And siblings really are the worst to disturb revision sessions... no, Lily's not going to let it go... glad you liked the siblings dynamic there! :D
Ahahah! No, Sirius and Lily were just looking for a place to hide when they heard Draco's steps... :P And yes, Lily did disillusion him! ;) As for Draco, he was just on a mission to pick up clothes for Cass, although obviously Sirius and Lily couldn't know that... :P
I'm so glad you liked the alternance of present and past, I thought it was a fun way to tell the story and keep it "mysterious" :P And no, not a pleasant situation for anyone... poor Sirius and Lily... and poor Harry, too... :P
Ahahah! Yeah, not a very wise move, breaking into Malfoy Manor... :P So glad you liked the peacocks chasing them, lol! :P (Can you imagine anything scarier than a herd of peacocks chasing you? :P)
Ahahah! Lily got it quite wrong, didn't she? :P They made a big mess... it's a luck that charges weren't pressed, and that Cass forgave them at all... :P
They could've ended up with a prison sentence, so three months social services is not too bad... ;) Glad you liked Petunia and Regulus arguing about whose genes were responsible! :P
I'm sure Sirius did take his Anatomy exam eventually! ;)
So glad you enjoyed this story! :D Thank you so much for the lovely review! <3
Hey Chiara,
I'm here to judge for my 'flashback' challenge, I loved the first story and the pairing of petunia/regulus so I'm so pleased that you're expanded your universe for them to include their kids. how cool. I just love it when you use the word 'bloody' in your dialogue, just love it. these characters are all about 'bloody' as a swear word almost. I love how you went straight into the action and we can see the dynamic between the siblings straight away. I love they have this huge family.
I really like the way that you've teased our the story using the flashbacks, that's where the action is, i love how the story unfolds, it gets me hooked straight away into wondering 'what did happen?' 'how have they gotten themselves into this?' which is a lot of fun for story telling purposes. Lily is particularly a fabulous character. I love how she is just charging into Draco's house to accuse him of all sorts. I can see the Gryffindor streak in her certainly. it was blast having them burst in there. I love Sirius comment about them already been related too haha.
I love the dynamics in the family, petunia and regulus bickering and fault each other's genes for their behavior is perfect because Adam and I do that about leo when he's a bit naughty :P I relate hard to this. they have so much family love! You addressed Sirius' issues with being a squib without making it too angsty which I quite liked really. His family love him lots and that's important. I thought this piece was very charming! thanks for entering my challenge! I hope to have it judged soon but I feel I'm going really slowly haha
Abbi xx
Author's Response:Abbi! Hello, dear! <3
I'm so glad you like this universe and that you are excited to meet the Black-Evans kids! :D And yes, I think it's quite obvious by now that I love using bloody as a swear word... :P So glad you enjoyed the family dynamics here! <3
I'm so glad you liked the way I used flashbacks and that they helped to keep the suspence! Ahahah! Lily is quite an impulsive character, isn't she? Definitely has a big Gryffindor streak! ;) Glad you liked her! :D And Sirius' comment about how they are already related to Draco (poor Draco, btw... :P)
So glad you liked the family dynamics, and Petunia and Regulus faulting each other's genes! I love that you could relate to that! :D Glad you also liked the way I addressed the issue of Sirius being a Squib, and how it wasn't too big of a deal! I love Squibs! And I totally think that there's really no big issue there, as long as they have a supportive family behind... ;)
So glad you enjoyed this! Thank you so much for hosting the challenge and giving me some inspiration for this story! And of course, thank you so much for the lovely review! <3
Big snowball hug,
Chiara
Hi again, Chi!
I can't believe you've blessed me with two entries to my challenge. Love you! And it's been a while since I've read anything in the Tuney/Reg universe so I love the little recap you provided - thank you! I already love the kids (I don't think we've met them before?) so I'm excited to read this!
Siblings solving a mystery together... I love this so much. And I know the flashbacks are for Abbi's challenge but I think you've utilised them so well, they really kept me hooked as I wondered what had happened that caused so much trouble! And I have to laugh at what they did, it's just so entertaining! And I love that Draco was part of it hehe!
Aw, Sirius and Lily are the cutest! I really loved their dynamic. Thanks for writing this, my love!
Author's Response:Hello again, B! :D
As I said, I had a lot of fun with your challenge! It was my pleasure! ;) And I only have this story and the one of Tuney/Reg meeting from this universe, but I might write more for it at some point, it is really fun! :D
What's better than siblings coming together to solve a mystery? :P Glad the flashback structure worked well and helped keeping the suspence! :D They did make a big mess, didn't they? Lol! Glad you liked Draco's appearence, too! ;)
So glad you liked the dynamic between Sirius and Lily! They are very cute!
Thank you so much for the review and for hosting the challenge! <3
Hi, Chiara,
I'm here for the Fairy Princess's birthday, to review this story.
I really like the way you structured the story with the alternataing sections of text, going back and forth between the rescue-gone-wrong and the humiliating consequences. It was very effective. Seeing the consequences so soon in the story made me eager to find out just how stupidly the twins had carried out their so-called rescue.
It's fun, isn't it, to break free of strict canon in these AU stories because it provides extra scope for our own creativity within the framework of the Potterverse magical world, whether with light-hearted whimsey, as you have done here, or serious and weighty themes. After reading this story, I went back and read the previous one in the series, noticing how different Petunia is in that story, compared to the canon Petunia, just because she met and married a different man.
Fun to read. Thank you for writing.
Vicki
Author's Response:Hi. Vicki! :)
Thank you so much for stopping by! :)
So glad you liked the split-time structure, and that seeing the consequences before the actual action made you curious about what happened! :)
I have become pretty fond of AUs, especially what-if AUs... :P Happy to know that you decided to check out the previous story as well! I think Petunia could've been a slightly better person, without Vernon's influence (I have 0 sympathy for Vernon...)
Thank you so much for the review! <3
Love,
Chiara
Hello dear Chiara, I'm here to drop a review for the fairy princess birthday and for you. I always like coming to your stories as there is a certain type of comfort in your writing. Your characters make me smile, especially when they're young or kids, you have a knack for writing such nature. And also the way you write flows so nicely and easily, it's just easy and pleasant to read your stories, and enjoy the ride.
I love this wild idea of Petunia and Regulus having such a large crazy family. Feel free to point me to more stories about them. It also warms my heart that in some alternative universe, Petunia and Regulus adopted baby Harry and actually gave him the care he deserved.
Lily and Sirius are a great duo. It makes for an interesting dynamic making Sirius a Squib. I especially like that you didn't make it look like some disability, but Sirius is leading a normal Muggle life (at least when his mischievous sister isn't involved), studying to be a doctor, and just generally being a cool normal human being. I like that.
The whole misunderstanding between these guys and Draco and Cass was actually really funny to wathc unfold, lol. I especially love seeing a disgruntled Draco Malfoy limping into Harry's office yet being unable to press charges, haha, even if he'd probably like to.
Honestly, your AU ideas and spins are very fun and creative. Never stop inventing and writing Chiara. Lots of hugs and love your way, thank you for making me grin with this story.
Eli
Author's Response:Eli! Hello, my love! <3
Aww, thank you... you are too sweet! I'm so glad you enjoy reading my stories, and that they have some kind of feel-good vibe, that makes me happy! <3
I first wrote Petunia/Regulus as a sort of joke to myself, but then I imagined their kids and I just wanted to expand on their family a bit more... :P "A crush of freaks and Muggle filth" is the story in which Petunia and Regulus first meet and fall in love, if you ever want to check it out ;) I don't have other stories in this universe at the moment, but I might come up with something else at some point! ;) And yes, Harry actually getting some care! :D (I think I do that in most of my AUs, even if none is exactly perfect for him... but literally anything is better than Vernon Dursley, am I right? :P)
Glad you liked Lily and Sirius, they are a fun duo! :D I think that a Squib could have a pretty normal and satisfying life, as long as their family gave them the right support, don't you agree?
Draco would've definitely wanted to press charges... :P So glad you enjoyed the whole misunderstanding and its crazy consequences, it was fun to write! :)
Aww, you flatter me! Thank you so much! You are the absolute best!
Snowball hug,
Chiara
hello chiara, here for our swap! so sorry there's such a delay, but i'm very glad i got a chance to read this :]
i thought this whole story was really adorable. i absolutely loved sirius' narration throughout, especially his little one-liners like about him actually not being able to sit through the anatomy exam, or his comments about the pureblood society and how they're all really related. and the fact that he wants to be a doctor/study medicine is amazing. i can 100% see where regulus would protest something like that, even though magic supposedly makes things better.
him being a squib is absolutely perfect, and i love that petunia has a large family who all seems to love each other. and them being able to bond over not having magic in the family - such precious.
onto the story itself, i'm a sucker for flashbacks, especially when they interweave with the present timeline in chunks like this. i thought you did a great job; everything was distinct and i wasn't at all confused by the timeline. i love that we got to hear the story after it happened, and i can only imagine how intimidating it must be to be yelled at by harry, who's like his cousin, and head auror nonetheless - poor kids! although they definitely deserve it, breaking into the malfoy manor like that.
i love the twist, that draco and cass are getting married, and that he wasn't holding her for any sinister reasons. i'm not familiar with the rest of the universe to know for sure, but i have a lot of questions about their relationship! like good ones, like i want to know how it all came about. if you've got fics written about it, i'll have to poke around and see. it's all super interesting to me and i love a good malfoy/black-evans dynamic ;)
and the relationship between lily and sirius was absolutely adorable. i love how lily just charges into things, and sirius kind of rolls his eyes and hesitates, but then follows along with her anyway - although a bit reluctant. it felt very realistic in the way of twins and i loved how different they were; not at all the same like how fred & george are often portrayed in the books. they balanced each other out, and at the end of the day, no matter how mad they were - they really love each other, and that's all that matters.
another excellent read from you, my dear, and so sorry it took me so long to get here! good luck in both of the challenges. your writing is always such a joy to read ♥
Author's Response:JILL!!!
Thank you so much for stopping here, my dear! <3
I'm so glad you enjoyed this, and Sirius' narration! Who doesn't love a sassy narrator, honestly? :P And I'm glad you like that he wants to be a doctor (and Regulus' reply... he would see it that way... :P)
I'm glad you like that he is a Squib and how this gives him and Petunia something in common! And that they are a big, loving family despite all their differences! :D
So glad the flashbacks/non-linear narration worked, too! Yes, being yelled at by Head-Auror Harry Potter would be very intimidating, poor kids... :P
Now you make me want to write a Draco/Cass story... maybe at some point, who knows? ;) I do like the idea of getting back to this universe at some point! :D
I'm so glad you liked the relationship between Sirius and Lily and that they seem believable as twins! They are pretty different, but with a very strong bond, and I'm glad you liked it! <3
Thank you so much! So glad you enjoyed this! <3
Snowball hug,
Chiara
Hey Chiara! I've found my way here from the fairy princess birthday party, and I'm excited to see this fic! I've never really thought of Petunia/Regulus before but I'm very interested :eyes: and I also love kidfics! So yes very excited haha
Ohh this flashback is so good! I love the banter, I love the little glimpses we get of the family and their life (Reg and Petunia disagreeing, Dudley and Cass fighting, Harry being the voice of reason lol). And I really really love the relationship between Lily and Sirius so far! I feel like I already know them, maybe not fully yet haha but their voices really shine through.
I love Sirius lol, I love his humor! I can really picture this scene and I can't help but laugh at the dramatics of these three. And oooh Draco! Draco and Dudley being friends is so interesting! Is Dudley a wizard in this AU? And of course, my mind is jumping to think that this is Draco/Cass? I can't wait to see what happens next :eyes:
Oh my gosh what did they do to him? :joy: :joy: I really love how Sirius is more like Petunia, and I adore the description of Malfoy Manor!! Especially the peacocks haha. And poor Draco omg, I feel like Sirius is the bane of his existence right now lol
"Dad declared in that haughty way of his that he could've died of shame." LOL I love this so much!! And the whole six-months-later part is so good! Sirius is hilarious, and I feel for him on the Squib front, but also the thought of Petunia and Narcissa being connected... I can't get over it :joy:
Such a fun AU, I really enjoyed it!! Thanks for writing and sharing! <3
Author's Response:Dottie!!!
Okay, I adore this review, you know? :P So glad you found your way here for the wishlist event! :D
I'm so glad you liked the flashbacks! And all the little mentions/details of their family life! They are a fun bunch for sure! :P And I'm so glad you liked Sirius' and Lily's voices and their relationship! <3
Ahahah! I have a thing for sassy narrators, what can I say? But yes, Sirius is hilarious! :P And yes, Dudley is a wizard in this universe, and a Slytherin of course, so he and Draco are obviously friends! ;) And yes, Draco/Cass :P How did you guess? :P
Ahahah! Poor Draco! So glad you liked the descriptions of Malfoy Manor! :D And yes, Draco is not impressed by his future in-laws right now...
Isn't it exactly how Regulus would react, though? :P So glad you enjoyed the six-months-later section, it was fun to write! :) And yes, being the only Squib in the Black-Evans family is not easy (even if it does give Petunia an ally, in a way...) And yes! Can you imagine Petunia and Narcissa being related??? :D
Thank you so much for this great review! I'm so, so happy you enjoyed it! <3
Snowball hug,
Chiara
Hi Chiara! I am here with your review request! <3
I know you vocalized some concerns about this story making sense, but I think it does just fine. I think you maybe feel that way because of how you are telling it, through flashbacks and all. And I will say that it started out a bit confusing, but this really only served to make me want to read onward and try and piece everything together. So I don't necessarily see it as a bad thing. :)
One thing I did wonder about, but again, you kind summed it up at the end, was how Lily came to the immediate conclusion that Draco had something to do with Cass' disappearance. I mean, he does "return to the scene of the crime," so to speak, but I wondered Lily's insistence that it was him was because of her personality. I thought maybe some thoughts on how Sirius views her or how this was "typical Lily behavior," might serve to better explain her jumping to this conclusion. You kind of do explain this at the end with his thoughts of, "She might be stubborn, hot-headed, frustrating, insane..." and I think it still works like this. I kind of made the assumption that this was how she behaved based on how you portray her in this throughout, so I think it all makes sense and this was totally just a small thing. I also thought it was curious how easily they could trespass on Malfoy Manor. But I suppose if this takes place post-war, maybe they've grown more lax on security measures.
I love all the siblings in this and how you've made them have their own distinct personalities. We don't see Dudley, but from the references you make, he feels a bit like canon Dudley, which I love! And I love Cass as like the affluent, older sister who is socially inclined and just totally proper. She feels very much like a product of Regulus and Petunia, and again, she's not as centered and Lily and Sirius, but you can tell she fits with this family. And of course, the close knit bond between Lily and Sirius is lovely. I love how it parallels canon Lily & Petunia's, but instead of resentment there is understanding and acceptance between them.
I am intrigued by this universe where Regulus and Petunia get together and have a family. I totally see it as plausible...minus the manic, blood purity obsession that Regulus' parents had. But if they're dead, this could totally work without any major issues. They're kind of cut from the same cloth, even being brought up in different worlds. It makes me want to read more of what you've written in this universe!
All in all, this was a very nice family episode that had everything from adventure, drama, and humor. It was a well rounded one-shot and I know you wrote it this way to fulfill a challenge, but I really liked how you wove the flashbacks into this. I think even if you just wrote it like this because you wanted to, it would also work very well. :)
Feel free to recommend any other stories in this universe to me. I'll gladly review them (or anything else you want me to) anytime.
<3 Courtney
Author's Response:Hello, Courtney, my dear! :)
Sorry for the lateness, I'm trying to catch up a little bit with my unanswered reviews (I have sooooo many after the fairyland event... anyway...)
Thank you so much for reviewing this for me! <3 I'm so glad you enjoyed the story and that it did make sense! :) I guess I was mostly worried that being AU and being kind of a silly plot it would feel weird. I'm glad that wasn't the case! :D
Yeah, I guess jumping to wild conclusions is just part of Lily's character :P I see how that might've been a bit confusing, but also I think that Sirius is just used to go along with whatever she says/does (that's part of his character) and he's not very into wizarding stuff, so he'd believe her... with a grain of salt... usually... :P And yes, I must admit that I was a bit lazy about the security measures of the manor. But I guess that they would've relent a bit years after the war :P
Ah, I'm so glad you enjoyed the siblings, even the ones that are just mentioned or that appear for only a brief time! :D Yes, Dudley is pretty much canon Dudley, except for magic. And Cass is 100% Reg and Tuney's daughter! :P Lily and Sirius, being twins and a few years apart from the rest, have a special bond, even with Sirius being a Squib. I really love those two! :)
I have the story of Regulus and Petunia meeting and falling in love, in case you were curious to check it out :P It's kind of silly as well, but yes, the premise is exactly that they are basically the same, even if they come from complete opposite backgrounds! ;) Maybe I'll write some more episodes in this universe at some point, I'd like to explore the Black-Evans adventures more! :P
So glad you enjoyed this, and the flashback structure! :D
Snowball hug,
Chiara
