Hi lostrobin, I’m here for the Fairyland review event!

This made me laugh so much and was not at all what I expected!! I loved it, and I think it’s even funnier because it’s Percy Weasley of all people having to deal with this. Huge fan of Justin just not giving a hoot and knowing he’s absolutely secure where he is – those bright pink bunny slippers too!

When we find out Justin should have gone to Eton in the books, I’ve always imagined him with this posh accent that would certainly fit in with the royal family and I absolutely love how you made him one of the nobility, it’s just fitting! Haha and he definitely fits in there snugly, Mr Personal Guest of Prince William! I always wondered how that would work if one of the Royal Family were Muggleborn…

Percy was just NOPE not even gonna bother dealing with this XD

Author's Response:

Hey!

I didn't even know what to expect while writing it because I wrote this in a frenzy and then yeeted it into the queue after a lovely chat with Isobel. This is probably the most humorous thing I've ever written, but also the only thing I've written that could easily just be slipped into canon with no adjustments.

I've always pictured Justin as being this sort of very proper gentleman who's nice to everyone because it's polite and he genuinely cares about people, but he also is just so freaking posh. I always imagined him with the most posh accent someone could have, so, of course, I had him stay with his mate's gran, who probably knows about magic, seeing as the PM knows about the wizarding world.

I thought about putting a royal Muggleborn in Salem, I really did, but I wouldn't exactly know how to deal with all of that. That being said, if someone writes that, please let me know! I'll gladly read it!

Percy is done with everything, and I just love how done he is. He does not get paid enough for this and should be allowed to have a nice job at a desk with lots of paperwork and not this crap.

Thanks for reading, and I hope you have a lovely day!

This is really quite amusing! I love how you showcase the conflict inside of Percy in the beginning of this. Even though he is working for the corrupt Ministry, he won't acknowledge Justin as a Muggleborn outright as they have seemingly required him to. And Justin as a privileged peer is a delight to read. I love that he's able to masquerade like this. And I love that even though Percy recognizes him, he chooses to ignore this in his own act of rebellion against the corrupt government. I think showing Percy in such a way is very important as it is accurate in regards to him as a character overall. I enjoyed this one shot very much, so thank you for writing!

Author's Response:

Hi, Courtney!

The funniest part is that Justin isn't really acting. He really does have that title, and he's just like 'pip pip cheerio' for Drama. I had never actually written Justin before, so this was definitely an adventure, I say as though this weren't written in, like, half an hour and then yeeted into the queue.

Percy is just Done. He is very done with everything, and he does not get paid enough for this crap. I originally was going to have him keep insisting, but then I thought about how Percy, by this point, is very done with the corrupt Ministry, and he's not going to cart someone off to Azkaban because of who they were born to. This is also the first time I've written Percy as a main character, and he turned out surprisingly well? I'm really glad you liked him and the one-shot!

Thanks for reading, and I hope you have a nice day!

LOL WHAT? I love this idea so much, it's actually very cool?? I need more of Magic Society Meets the British Royalty?? At first I thought Percy was fetching like, little prince albert or charlotte to send them off to Hogwarts, or something like that, but this was even better and funnier. like, i am just picturing justin walking around dressed like that, pretending to be royalty or something and calling everyone 'my dear chap' and percy just standing there flabbergasted, thinking 'i don't have time for this shit, they don't pay me enough' in his mind and it honestly makes me crack up. thanks for cheering me up, and omg if you ever want to continue in this vein, i am so so here for it. It would be such a great premise for a story, with Percy definitely as the liasion or whatever to this royal, and just... :D :D :D Your Percy was so well written by the way, really enjoyed this

Author's Response:

Hi, Eli!

I headcanon Justin as being an aristocrat, so he's not even acting all that much. That being said, he doesn't usually say 'my dear chap'. Percy really doesn't get paid enough for this, and that was one of the first parts of this fic I wrote because it was just a mood. Justin is just having the time of his life at this point, and I'm sure he's using it to help get other Muggleborns to safety.

I'm so glad this cheered you up! I was cackling the entire time I wrote this because it just felt so ridiculous, and Percy was just so Done. I doubt I'll be continuing this, but I might, if I can find all of the math and stuff I did for it when I was fifteen, something that has royals and Tudor England in Hogwarts. That wouldn't be for a while, but it might be fun. It wouldn't be nearly as funny as this, unfortunately, and it would take a lot of research.

Thanks for reading, and I hope you have a lovely day!

Hi there!

Aha, what an interesting idea for a fic. I wonder what kind of magic Justin had to do to let the royals let him stay at Buckingham Palace. Although, if he's anything like what I can remember in the movies, it's probably not too unreasonable that he would fit in.

It makes me wonder if any muggle-born used anything like this to be safe and go into hiding, although it's quite scary to think that the ministry still managed to find him, even if they couldn't touch him. Poor Percy, it must have been so annoying for him not being able to do the job he was sent to do, even if he isn't paid enough to do it.

A great fic!

Written for the winter in fairyland review event.

Author's Response:

Hi, Shaza!

So, uh, surprisingly, he didn't have to do magic. I think (I'm very bad at math, so forgive me if I'm completely wrong) that Justin is actually close to the same age as Prince William, so they would have grown up in the same circles. He just phoned and was like 'hey, bro, can I chill at your gran's?' or something like that because I'm sure if the PM knows about the wizarding world, then so do the royals.

I imagine that there were very few that stayed in Britain and managed to stay safe. Usually, I have Justin transfer to Ilvermorny for the year and sort of help get Muggleborns there, but I couldn't pass up this opportunity for humor. Percy is just done with the Ministry at this point, and he's starting to realize that he's in the wrong, so I don't think he's all that upset that he didn't bring someone back to the Ministry.

Thanks for reviewing, and I hope you have a nice day!

This is hillarious. What a concept. I cannot tell if Justin is *actually* an earl, or if he's some how conned his way into being considered one, but either way it's fantastic. I love that he's totally straight faced and lies that he attends Eton without even blinking. Fantastic.

This also opens up all sorts of questions about magic among Britain's elites. What if Harry defected because it turns out Archie is magic? There is great potential for a James Bond/James Potter double identity oh my god.

Percy refusing to use the phrase mudblood is a nice touch and shows that he's still good inside, even if he's made bad choices and is doing bad things at this time. I also found his "they don't pay me enough for this" response funny and relatable. And I mean.... the person who deals with royal incidents should make Big Bucks, so he's not wrong!

This was such a clever idea!

xoxo Renee

Author's Response:

Hey, Renee!

Nope, he's actually an earl. That is one of two truths he told in this entire fic. His dad is a duke or something (I haven't figured that out yet, but like, Justin is not royal, that much I know), and Justin's just like 'oh, haven't you heard?' with the whole diplomatic immunity thing with the wizarding world. There will, probably, be a law about that once Kingsley's the Minister for Magic, but for now, Justin will exploit every loophole he can.

This has opened up so many questions that I do not have even the slightest hint of answers to. Feel free to use this as a jumping off point because I doubt I will write anything answering those questions. That being said, maybe one day I'll write that fic that's Elizabeth I going to Hogwarts...

I never get to write Percy as a main character, and I loved writing him in this. I know it's really short, but I like how he turned out. Percy needs a raise, people! He is Very Important and deserves a Very Big raise!

Thanks for reviewing, and I hope you have a lovely day!

Hi Robin! I’m here for the gifting event :)

Two things:

1) I AM SCREAMING!!! This story is soooo funny!

2) This is my new head-canon on where Justin was hiding in DH.

Seriously, it’s so perfect. From the bowl of cereal to the ever crisper accent to Percy’s realization that…it’s just not going to be worth it to haul him in…or get arrested by the Muggle police.

Does Prince William know about wizards? I guess he might, being royalty and all, but he might not being a Muggle. Are there members of the royal family who are magical?

I thought you did a great job with Percy’s POV too. He’s doing his job, but he’s not happy about it. I liked the moment where he refused to use the slur for Muggleborns, even if it’s “official” because he was raised better. I also liked that he took the out when it was presented to him rather than trying to drag Justin in for questioning. I wonder if he was able to do that for anyone else. Although I doubt many other people had such a perfect hiding spot.

I loved this!

Yours,

Noelle

Author's Response:

Hey, Noelle! Sorry for the late reply!

Isobel and I were chatting, and I don't remember how it came up, but I had this idea, and it was written in a rush and then yeeted into the void. I had too much fun with it, and it shows a bit. I apologize for any typos found.

Percy is just Done. He does not get paid enough for this, and it really shows. I don't know when, exactly, this is set during DH, but I imagine it's not long before Percy realizes that he might be on the wrong side of things. Unfortunately, I don't think he was able to do this for anyone else because, like you said, not a lot of people had the perfect hiding spot.

This isn't my headcanon for Justin (he goes to Ilvermorny for a year because his parents insist that he leave Britain), but I do like it because it's really fun. I don't know if William, in this story, knew, but I like to imagine Justin was like 'sup, can I hang out at your gran's for a bit?' and that's all that happened. I know that, ages ago, I was planning on writing a whole fic where Elizabeth I was a witch and went to Hogwarts, but that was, like, almost sixteen years ago at this point? I might come back to it or change it to be a fictional witch in that time period, but I haven't thought much about the royal family and magic. It isn't something that I've thought much about, but I imagine that the Queen, much like the prime ministers we hear about in the beginning of HBP, knows about the existence of magic.

Percy was heavily inspired by how mentally exhausted I was at the time, so I doubt I'll ever write him that well again. He's just done with everything, and I'm pleasantly surprised at how well he turned out. I thought about going back and adding more to this, but I actually like it.

Thanks for reviewing, and sorry for the late reply!

This was great! I like what you did with Justin's briefly mentioned backstory as a posh muggle, and Percy as the overworked "don't get paid enough to care about this" bureacrat was just perfect.

Author's Response:

Thank you so much for reviewing!

Fun fact: this was originally (well, for, like, two seconds) going to be called some variation of 'I don't get paid enough for this', but I thought that Diplomatic Immunity would have been funnier. I remember something (it might not have been in the books) about Justin knowing Wills or something, so I had an idea of a very ridiculous place for Justin to hide. Thanks again for reviewing, and I hope you have a lovely day!
