However, James just texting into the void because he's so bored? I love it. And Marlene fits right in.

"She is not trying" lollll, also I kind of like how I can't tell whether Sirius is talking about Marlene or Taylor Swift in that moment. Maybe both. But yes, Sirius seriously underestimated the emo depths to which a woman scorned can sink.

How cute is it though that they take her out?? Even if they, once again, underestimated the situation and did not realize they had to get her out of there until she was already running around like a dumpster fire.

Oh god now this is a fun premise. How did I know halfway through this chapter that it had to be the Marauders. I love the mirroring of Lily like "omg you went on craiglist??" and remus like "I can't believe you listed on craigslist..." XD  Also lmao at "millennial pink" and James getting that off the can of paint (though I really want to know what in the Marauders' place is painted pink and was a selling point as such in the ad??)

 

Pretty sure Sirius is, in fact, going to 'go there' XD

I have to admit I haven’t yet seen Derry girls but wow what an iconic line, and I definitely need to watch that show now for full context and to better appreciate it here in this fic. Julianne seems like an interesting character, and I am curious if Marlene and Sirius will ever be a thing, or if it’s just the other ladies projecting on Marlene to make her uncomfortable. Lily refusing to go to the party just because of her bad first impression of James is a mood and a nice nod to canon progression of their relationship. I do think it’s funny how Mary and Bec have their own chat and then bet on James and Lily and then Marlene and Sirius hooking up/getting together, even though Sirius is currently entangled with Julianne. Great third chapter, I would love to read more asap!! :)

LOL “cheers i’ll drink to that” is such a meme and iconic line, i love that you’ve written it in this fic even if the meme reference wasn’t intentional :) Aw bless these bros trying to help Marlene get over her breakup, even if the original intent is just to stop her playing a song from folklore on repeat, lol. I am impressed with your drunk texting from Marlene because it’s still semi-legible for us readers even though she’s clearly drunk off her ass and the marauder boys have now lost her in the bar. Them recruiting her friends to get her home safely is a mood and also at the very end, poor poor sirius, omg. :joy: Great second chapter, lovely!!!

Hi this is so great and i love everyone already in this chatfic!! Poor marlene being all down in the dumps because her girlfriend dumped her but also therefore *not* having anywhere to live because of that, which, RUDE AF, EX-GIRLFRIEND!!! But also totally valid that Mary can’t legally allow it because of the shitty landlord Mary has, so of course Marlene does something every other person looking for a new place to live is, go to Craigslist :joy: I was curious who it was going to be that she ended up living with, and I am SO READY for this chaotic time that Marlene will be moving into with three of the marauder boys -- although i am curious about why Peter doesn’t live with them anymore….i suppose I shall have to read on to find out :)

hello, i’m finally here to review and judge for my challenge!!

 

absolutely dying at the constant blasting of this is me trying, it’s probably not my top choice for folklore song to play on repeat, but i respect it - also yes, folklore is and will always be iconic, even when it is being played on repeat

 

also i fully understand marlene’s place here, i am also the person people get annoyed with for playing the same song for hours on end

 

sirius immediately going straight to murder with ‘take her out’ is amazing, the fact that he’s just already prepared and ready to iron out details is great

 

lmaoooo james creeping on lily’s instagram i’m here for it

 

oh my god marlene’s drunk texting is almost incomprehensible, that’s incredible

 

‘you try catching a sad drunk girl, they’re like fucking eels man’ has me CACKLING, it’s so accurate and the delivery is 10/10

 

hahahaha this is SO chaotic, marlene sounds like a HANDFUL while drunk and the poor boys literally have to call in backup to handle her

lily putting sirius in charge *was* a horrible decision, i would agree with that one

Hey, I'm back! :D Thought I'd check out one more chapter for the battleship event! ;)

Ahahah! I love how quickly Marlene got to the boys' nerves... or at least to Sirius'... :P

prongs: we should take her out / padfoot: excellent idea / i think there's a nice cemetery not far from here where we can bury the body This made me laugh more than it probably should have... :D

Also this: padfoot: you just wanna see if her friends are hot / prongs: i am offended you would say such a horrendous thing / moony: i watched you stalk her instagram and then you started creeping on her redhead friend

And of course their plan backfires badly :P I always find so amusing how incomprehensible the messages become when the person is drunk... poor Marlene... and poor boys once Lily unleash her fury on them! :P I loved the panicked messages between the girls, and Remus' calm reply... but also the panicked messages between the boys when they first lost her! I just find this all so amusing! :D

Ahahah! And the ending, with Sirius trapped in the bed with Marlene! :P And Remus going to the rescue... so good! :D

This was really fun to read! I think you know how much I love the Marauders and I really enjoyed what you are doing here! ;) (I've never written a chat fic myself, but they seem lots of fun... :P)

Ah, poor Marlene... she's clearly so heartbroken... but I can't blame the girls for being a bit exasperated with her, I probably would be too, especially since it seems like it's a very small place to share for four people... :P I feel a little bad for Lily who has to do the talking as well... :P but I suppose it makes sense that it would be her... also, I suppose Marls didn't take it too bad, so... ;)

I had to Google what Craigslist is (yes, I live under a rock...) :P I love how worried Lily was, anyway! She's such a mum friend! And Marlene seems the kind of person who doesn't really think before she acts... feels very in character for them both! :D

Of course she would end up with the boys! And I'm excited to see how that cohabitation will work out, and how it will influence the dynamics among all the characters! :P I love that Remus is the one who sees how potentially problematic the situation is, while Sirius' first thought is that the girl is hot... :P Again, so very in character! ;)

moony: you were gonna date pete? / padfoot: it could happen / prongs: i'm insulted i was not brought up in this discussion Oh, Merlin, I love them!!! :P And I love that James and Sirius have a "single when forty" pact!!! :P

ahahah i love the fact that marlene basically got kicked out of the apartment for the three musketeers then answered a craigslist ad (i admit, i have zero knowledge about craigslist except what i've seen in movies and tv but it sounded like a serial killer type of thing) and decided to move in with the marauders who she thought were all women and like, honestly, that's hilarious and i love it.

 

i'm also surprised at remus being the one 'no pls this is not going to end well' for some other sensibilities than idk morality which isn't how i've gotten used to seeing him (usually i feel like he'd be like help this damsel in distress pls noble men) but i can also totally see it because he's uhh sort of responsible and all that and honestly i also love remus being just exhausted by sirius' and james' antics i love it

 

and sirius comment about how she's hot has got me all googly eyed at them ahhaha but i just remembered that dorcas left her to move to spain with only two days notice wtf that's so mean, poor marlene i want to hug her :||||

 

lily's comment 'you drain me' had me in stitches it was greatTM

Point 1 - great name, i am here for the three musketeers! Point 2 - i dont know who bec is, im guessing the OC, i am here for whomever they are, they seem like a great time and i totally understand their priorities! Because makeup is terrible to wash out of pillows!!

Lmaooo you're off to a wonderful start already!  And three musketeers is a wonderful name for the group chat.  I'm always so impressed by how people manage to convey so much information in literally a chat without any external description, so it's very cool :) 

 

Ooh, ok, not too important but I like how this takes place just a few months in the future.  Gosh, I have no clue what's going to happen by the time we get there.  As far as I'm concerned, we're still in March.  1:32 pm suggests to me that this takes place either before the drunken shenanigans or the day after.  Both are equally intriguing to me!

 

Lolol poor Marlene!!  Also, at first I thought bec's face was glued to the pillow, and I was like, "Why wouldn't it wash off?" but of course, I am slow and I eventually figure it out.  I think this is a perfect time to point out again how you've captured the nuances and the conventions of communicating on a chat, though, because that's totally the type of comprehension mistake I would have made if I was actually in a group chat.  Very nice touch.

 

dorcas full on moved to spain - LOOOLLLL that seems...drastic, and also kind of a douchey move. Not cool, Dorcas :/ 

 

Hmm, I think eventually Marlene does need to move out, but she is in a moment of distress at the moment...I'm not sure what I would do in that situation, actually!
