Wow! Sirius expressing true appreciation for Peter is not something you see every day! :O
Sure, his first attempt was a really poor one... he should really think before he talks... :P And... But there's this unpleasant aftertaste to being called average, when it implies that that sets you apart from the rest of your group, that they're all extraordinary, and will go on to do great things, while you'll be left behind leading your average life. Ouch! This hurts, too! I might be oversensitive when it comes to Peter, but this is exactly how I interpret his mindset and it makes me so sad to see him feeling like that... :/
But, wow! Sirius recognizing his privilege and commending Peter because he puts so much effort in reaching his goals, even if it's more difficult for him... well, that's unexpected and incredibly mature of him? I really love this moment!
I love, love, love this collection! Each story is brilliant, I love your narrative voice and your humour and the way you really nail all the characters! So good!
Big snowball hug, my dear!
Love,
Chiara
At eleven years old, Sirius was very arrogant, as was James (neither of which would change for several years to come). As such, they would nag each other on to previously undiscovered heights of boastfulness and generally being a pain in the arse, much to the chagrin of their dormmates. Oh, my Merlin! I love this! And I absolutely adore your interpretation of their early friendship! I can totally see them being sort of rivals at first... :O
I can totally imagine Sirius causing such an accident to James because he couldn't stand defeat... and then feeling so guilty and staying by his side in the hospital wing for the whole time... perfect! And James not being angry at all, only wanting a rematch! :P Oh, my Merlin! I love these two! :D
I hope McGonagall won't be too hard if/when she finds out... :P
How are you such a genius, Julia?
Loved this! Love you!
I'll see you again in a moment on the last one!
Love,
Chiara
I remember reading this one when you first posted it and loving it a lot back then! And I'm loving it a lot re-reading it now! :D It's so rare to find stories that focus on my little Petey, so that's a plus! :P
I love that Peter's first complain after the whole thing is that James called him Bessy... :P Poor Pete, though... that was a very close call... he almost ended up as a lab rat, poor thing... thank Merlin James was close and saved him in time! :O I could really feel his panic, btw! You wrote it so well! ;)
And I love how Slughorn didn't find the whole thing suspicious in the slightest... :P He appears only quickly, but he still felt so in character! Once again, brilliantly done!
I'm repeating myself, but brilliant job again! :D
Love,
Chiara
Ahahah! Oh, my Merlin, I love this! :D
Of course James wouldn't care at all that his friends were all asleep and/or suffering from hangover and would just keep packing at such an ungodly hour and doing so the more loudly possible... :P Such a James Potter thing to do! :D
I really loved the style you used for this one, addressing the reader and telling us all the ways the marauders annoy each other... I especially loved Sirius's dirty socks that he never put in the wash and the correlation between the amount of Potions homework and Remus's temper. Just so good! :D
This is, once again, brilliant! See you soon on the next one!
Snowball hug,
Chiara
Back again! :D
"You know, after over six years of sneaking around in that thing, you would have thought you two would know by now that being invisible does not mean you can't be heard." Ahahah! Yes, one would think they would... :P
"What you think he's double-crossing you? Selling your secret quidditch tactics to the Slytherins?" / "Don't be stupid, Pete would never do that!" Ouch! Knowing what will happen in a few years, this really hurts! :/
I loved how you wrote the opening scene, with James and Sirius bouncing a ball of parchment to and from using their books as rackets :P Definitely how they'd spend relaxing time... :P And Peter being sneaky and James wanting to know what he's up to is so good! So fitting of all of them! :D
Ahahah! I love that they'd go around under the Cloak just for the fun of it, and almost get caught in the process... :P And Peter selling "illegal" gillyweed to the students... ahahah! Brilliant! :D
I'm enjoying all of these little shots so much! You are so good at capturing all of these characters! :D
See you in a minute!
Love,
Chiara
Hi, Julia, dear! I'm here for the Hufflepuff swap (and because I've meant to get back to this collection for ages... I'm planning to read and review all of it today :D)
Aww... the closing was just so cute! I loved that sweet image of Padfoot just curling down in Remus' lap while he studies, it's so lovely! <3
Also, so typical Sirius trying to involve Remus in his pranking schemes and Remus being like, no, thanks! :P And the puppy eyes bit... ahahah! I love it so much! I'm almost surprised Remus didn't give in at that point, he's got so much willpower, but that's who Remus is, I guess ;)
I'm not quite sure what else to say, except that I loved this! Your marauders are always brilliant, I loved every bit of dialogue here, and I loved how vivid the scene was even if there wasn't much description at all! It's so good! <3
Moving on to the next one now!
Snowball hug,
Chiara
What a way to finish this, such a strange, mixed-emotions kind of note, because I can see Sirius being less than sensitive when it comes to peter, dropping jokes and comments that he thinks are harmless but that lodge very firmly somewhere at the back of Peter's mind, and perhaps he doesn't mean most of the things he says in a way that they sound, but words have a power and a life of its own once we speak them, and it often depends on who is listening.
But James and Remus' reactions speak for everything, and it's moments like these when you really feel sad for Peter, and you're wondering if this is one of many little chinks in his armor. The fact that Sirius actually meant to say something else, something actually very nice and flattering, is still bittersweet. What he told Peter was great, and it turns into a lovely moment that makes me so sad, because I keep hoping that Peter would be appreciated enough by the rest of them, and that his betrayal would never happen, and oh my now I'm feeling all emotional!
Thank you so much for these lovely little stories that brought me so close to the Marauders, they were great and very in character, and like I said in my previous review, I'd definitely read anything else you'd come up with for the Marauders.
Eli
Author's Response:Eli, thank you so much for your review!!
I really love everything you picked up on re: Peter, that's exactly where I was going with this!! Because yeah, ultimately it's a wholesome moment, but i also tried showing why Peter might feel left out and have some resentment towards the other boys - because he is so often treated with condescension, even if it's not always intentional or mean-spirited, that I think that would have really pushed him away in the end, and weakened the bond he had with the other boys! :/

Aw, I loved this! Firstly, I think given James and Sirius' backgrounds, I totally think it would take them longer than just a first meeting and a couple of days to become friends. i think there would definitely be a struggle between their children's egos, and it'd take a higher stakes moment (like the troll in Harry's first year) to bring these two together. I love how you used that idea and wrote it into this piece. The awesome thing about these short stories that you do is that they all sound so in-character and plausible, just like the beginning of James and Sirius' friendship!
They would totally be competitive, and flying seems like the most likely thing to get their competitiveness going. Sirius must've hated being always second to James, and it's totally realistic of him to pull something shady like that, given his upbringing. But i love how that is a sort of defining moment for him, how the prospect and idea of hurting someone goes against his soul and that's when he decides to be friendly with James instead of being enemies, and it seems like that changes everything for him. I love that!
YOU NEED TO WRITE A LONGER MARAUDER STORY
Eli
Author's Response:Eli, thank you for the review! <3
I was absolutely thinking about the troll incident, and how it took a traumatic incident for Harry to really become friends with Hermione, and how cute a parallel it would be if the same was true for his dad and Sirius, so I'm super stoked that this reminded you of that, too!
Yeah, I think with Sirius' upbringing, I think he would very much be conditioned to always think he's number one at anything he does and to do anything it takes to win, but seeing the consequences of his actions, with James being in the hospital, that would be momentuous enough an experience to really make him think about what he's been taught, and how he really wants to live his life, so it's super great to hear that you found this convincing as a sort of (very early, ahah) coming of age moment!

~HC opener 2020: battleships
This one is so hilarious and alarming at the same time, and again it sounds like something the Marauders would totally get up to, using Peter as the rat spy to sneak into places no one else can. It also implies that he might have been, more than once, used to do dangerous and unpleasant tasks due to his size.
What I really liked about this piece was the narrative voice, it was very amusing and fun to read, I could imagine it was almost chortling as it was telling us the story. When Peter was caught by Slughorn and James (loyal and bold as ever) ran to get him, that was awesome, because it's so weird to think Slughorn as just casually holding a human being by his tail, planning to feed it to some other creatures. Slughorn was also very well written, 'i would not part a boy from his rat' and then James coming up with the name Bessy on the spot seems like the perfect reaction for him, which I guess was a combination of being nervous and still hilarious at the same time. Peter's reaction to Bessy was a great ending. Another wonderful short piece, thank you!
Eli for the HC
Author's Response:Thanks so much for reviewing, Eli!
Yeah I feel like Peter's animagus form is definitely the most useful when it comes to pranking, being so inconspicious (it's not likeProngs the stag can just casually strut through the castle), but that also means he often finds himself in sticky situations!
haha, James reaction to coming up with a name for 'his' pet is half deer in headlights (pun intended :P) and half me panicking over coming up with a name and then deciding that, actually, 'Bessy' is about the funniest thing I've ever written!

~HC opener 2020: battleships
There were so many wonderful funny things about this piece - yes living with others, even when they're friends, can most definitely have its ups and downs and just so many things can eventually escalate after you're with someone all the time so i found myself just kidding my head as soon as I started reading this. And everyone has their little something that drives others mad, like dishes leaving and chewing loudly and having annoying bathroom habits oh my God I know them all i think! It's so funny that Sirius would be the one to be leaving dirty socks everywhere, he does strike me as exactly the type of extremely messy roommate. But! Yes! James being impervious to hangovers would make me hate him so much because I've suffered through some bad ones and nothing can invoke my wrath like someone who is cheery and fine, demanding you to be the same! And the headcanon here just seems so accurate as well ???? because if anyone it totally would be perfect little James and I fully support whoever it was threatening intervention from their bed lol! This was very amusing, thank you!
Eli
Author's Response:Hi Eli, thanks so much for your review!
Annoying bathroom habits are some of the worst habits in flat mates I think! I used to have a flatmate who took showers at, like, 3 or 4 pm, i.e. when I've just drunk a kettle full of tea and really needed the loo and it was the absolute worst! But yeah, James' lack of hangovers and his complete obliviousness to the needs of his less fortunate dorm mates is definitely up there on the list of horribe habits!
That's Sirius shouting at James at the end, btw, I like to imagine that he called the Potters Mum and Dad after moving in wiht them ^_^x Julia
~HC opener 2020: battleships
almost everyone sneaks around this castle - omg they do don't they? harry did and draco did and loads of other people did if they were able to create a cathedral-sized room full of hidden contraband? lol, that was such a good line
LOL at James and Sirius using the cloak before curfew, i don't know why that is so hilarious to me, but it is!
And haha, Peter discovers them, omg James and Sirius you guys are pathetic at hiding!! But now for the actual real message (or at least how I perceived it) of this fic...it's such a harmless subtle yet clever way of showing Peter being cunning before he became the spy. Sneaking around and all that, being resourceful..getting the gillyweed, selling it, I like you portraying him as having these smarts, as opposed to being daft. another great Marauder prompt! :)
Eli <3
Author's Response:Hi Eli, thank you for your review!
I absolutely love what you pointed out about Peter! To be honest, most of this was just meant to be James and Sirius being ridiculous and silly, but you're absolutely right that Peter should not be underestimated! He's definitely got the smarts and skills to be very sneaky if he wants to! (And he's certainly much better at it than James and Sirius)

Hi again, dear, I seem to be spamming you too much today but I DID promise to be back for this drabble collection because the first one, Piggy back, was so great. And here again the Marauders are being super fun. Of course Remus is studying hard, and oh no about the full moon approaching, that always makes me feel sad :( But man, it's so funny how even though you just use ",..." i can somehow totally picture Padfoot's begging eyes, first in humand and then in dog form, so that was so well written without it being written if that makes sense? :D Padfoot is SUCH a bad influence, lol.
But then when he stays in his (super adorable and cute) dog form and just sits next to Remus while he studies, providing this soft sweet comfort, oh I loved that. I'm amazed how well you capture this ESSENCE of the various aspects of Marauder friendship through so few words. Very well done!
Eli :)
Author's Response:Thank you so much for reviewing, Eli!
haha, I wasn't sure if the "..." would really translate that well, so I'm super thrilled to hear that it did, and that you immediately knew what I was trying to convey! Sirius can definitely be a bad influence, but I think he also (mostly, anyway) knows when not to overstep! I'm also suuuuper happy about your comment about capturing the essence of the marauders, that's such high praise and I'm so happy to read it! I'm really glad you found the different aspects of their friendships believable!

I internally “awww”d so hard that I think I broke something. :P
But in all seriousness -- I am always so impressed by the way you manage to add in these twists and turns into such short stories, and this one is no exception! The first half of the little tale completely leads us to believe that Sirius is kinda mocking Peter, and my heart completely went out to him. Being called average is so...disheartening; it really shows you what the person who called you that thinks about themselves, and you really nailed that feeling! (I remember a time in middle school when a group of my friends were all discussing amongst themselves how weird they were, and after I chimed in, they looked at me and said, “No...you’re quite normal.” I have since made peace with the fact that I am quite normal. :P So I really empathize with Peter here!!)
But I’m so glad that Sirius then turned it around and spoke genuinely -- and I 10000% agree, that it’s a million times more impressive to succeed without having had privilege helping you out along the way. I love this moral very very much. <3
Love, Eva
Author's Response:Eva, thanks so much for reviewing!
While I'm thrilled that you could empathise with Peter here, I'm really sorry your friends made you feel that way! (I also heartily disagree with them! Not just because nobody's 'normal', but also because that's not a word I would have ever associated with you!)
But yeah, Sirius' treatment of Peter isn't exactly stellar, so even if he's not actually trying to be mean (quite the opposite!) there's still this lingering sensation of Peter not feeling fully accepted!x Julia

Juliaaa! <33
I absolutely love this -- I am always such a huge fan of those friendships that initially begin kinda rockily, but then once they overcome this massive obstacle together (in this case, almost killing James :P) they’re thick as thieves!! It’s like how Ron, Hermione, and Harry began their friendship, which makes this all the cuter because it’s Harry’s father we’re talking about! <3
I think Sirius and James having this cute rivalry at the tender young age of eleven is my FAVORITE thing. Sometimes I get the chance to see small children when I pass by our elementary schools, and the eleven-year-olds are BABIES, so it absolutely melts my heart to think that these two were competitively racing against one another at this age. :D
You’re the best -- this one made me so happy to read!!
Love, Eva
Author's Response:Thanks so much for your review, Eva! <3
11 year olds are such tiny children!! Like, when I think of Harry and Malfoy in their first year, and how serious they are about despising each other, and having this tremendous rivalry when they're literal babies is so ridiculous, and I wanted to replicate that with Sirius and James! :D I'm also really pleased that this reminded you of Harry, Rone, Hermione and the troll, because I was absolutely thinking of that parallel!

JULIA THIS IS SO INGENIOUS ON A MILLION LEVELS. First of all, I love that you’ve taken advantage of this Animagus clothing loophole! All throughout the books, Animagi always keep their clothes no matter how they transform. So it’s brilliant for Peter to like shove some eggs down his pants pockets and then transform back into a rat, so that he can retrieve the eggs from his pocket again once he’s returned to being a human later! It’s genius!
I will never get over “Bessy,” never ever -- I’ve already read this story at least three or four times, and I still choked out a laugh when I reached that part! The timing is just utterly exquisite. <3
This is so perfect omg. <3
Love, Eva
Author's Response:Eva, thanks so much for reviewing!
I feel like there's so many good pranking opportunities in Peter's rat form, whether it's just scaring people by running around their ankles, getting places undetected or smuggling probably illegal potion ingredients!
honestly i think the Bessy line is my favourite thing i've ever written, even I giggle everytime i look at that story, so I love to see it being appreciated like this!

OH my goodness Julia! JULIA. Each story I read, I love!! I don’t know how you managed to inspire Feelings in me in such a short amount of time, but you did -- the way that you described their dormitory life, their close-knit friendship, reminded me so much of college apartment/dorm living and the joyous memories made there! (And of course Sirius would be That Guy Who Does Not Wash His Socks. Of course. :P)
But what REALLY hit me in the feelsy emotions was when Sirius just casually said “Mum” to refer to James’s mom! They share a mother now!! The love for adopted families that this one-shot managed to convey with that one word made me want to hug all of them, but particularly Sirius. I’m so glad that he managed to escape his own abusive household and find one that love him truly as a son. <3
I have not talked yet about the actual subject of this story hahaha, but wow I am so impressed with James! Not that he’s done anything, as it’s all genetic, but still, it must be truly a gift to drink all you want and wake up with no repercussions in the morning. :O Clearly the other boys are not very pleased hehe.
I love this x100000. <3
Love, Eva
Author's Response:Eva, thanks so much for your review!
haha, I never lived in any dorms, so I love that this felt true to life for you! I'm also always soft for Sirius finally getting the love he deserves in his adoptive family, so I will slip that in any chance I get, hehe!
James, of course, shows no mercy for the fate of his poor dorm mates!

SDKGLSK JULIA YOU AND YOUR BRAIN, I LOVE THESE SO MUCH. I truly think this is the pinnacle of literary achievement, this adorable little one-shot drabble right here -- there is so much to love! James and Sirius passing time by playing with a wadded up ball of paper! James and Sirius being completely, unapologetically extra and shuffling about under the Invisibility Cloak even before curfew because it makes them feel cool!!!!
It is so funny to me that James and Sirius are scandalized by the underground Hogwarts sales of gillyweed, of all things -- no, not breaking the law and turning into illegal Animaguses, but selling weed. Peter being the one to do it makes it all the better!!
Sirius’s ceaseless convictions about Peter being a cheap thief of James’s Quidditch tactics made me laugh hahaha! I love them so much. :D
Love, Eva
Author's Response:Eva, thank you so much for reviewing!
James and Sirius have exactly one braincell in between them when they're together, and that cell has absolutely no common sense! Because who wants to be practical when you can be ~cool~
and ~fun~, amirite? I also think that James, in particular, is much too pure of heart to even consider that there might be some sneaky weed dealers going around Hogwarts, so he's absolutely scandalised that his friend is one of the sneakiest! Because Peter, unlike James and Sirius, actually understands when to be sneaky, and when it's easier to just blend into his surroundings!

JULIAA. I am, of course, back for more! :D
“In which Remus is stressed and Sirius is whiny” is the most accurate summation of their friendship/relationship I have ever read in my life omg. And I LOVE this. I absolutely love how Sirius is willing to engage his Literal Puppy Dog Eyes to guilt-trip Remus -- it absolutely tickles me that throughout the course of this conversation, he specifically transformed into Padfoot to do so. :D
“the Gryffindor was barely visible behind stacks of reference books, various rolls of parchment and one very precariously placed ink pot” the aesthetic of this line!! I love the image that it immediately brought to mind, and I actually started imagining that wonderfully comforting smell of old books that you find in bookshops, somehow. <3 (Though of course I also feel bad that Remus is so swamped with homework, the poor fellow!)
The way Sirius acted as Padfoot at the end reminded me of how dogs can be wonderfully therapeutic creatures -- and now I’m totally headcanoning that in times of stress, Sirius bounds about as Padfoot and lets the Marauders (and perhaps even other students!) pet him to cheer up!!
This was so cute, Julia. <333
Love, Eva
Author's Response:Eva, thank you so much for reviewing!
haha, i hadn't even realised that the chapter summary is a pretty accurate (if humourous) way of describing how i generally think of remus' and sirius' relationship, but I love that, so I'm rolling with it! :D
Sirius acting as therapy dog en residence for the entirety of Gryffindor tower is such a cute idea, too! Sometimes, all you need is a very best dog, 14/10, to pet and I can really see Sirius filling that role :Dx Julia
~HC Opener 2020: battleships
Julia, we have all been truly blessed by you + Inspirobot, because this collection of Marauders antics is SO funny. I am cackling!! “If it isn’t James Potter, hanging out in his unregistered animagus form!” I MEAN REALLY. What I love about your Marauders is how truly ridiculous they are (or, at least, Sirius is; perhaps I should not lump Remus and Sirius together :P). They’re just teenagers! And they of course will act like teenagers, which you’ve captured so perfectly here. I truly don’t think a school is complete without a set of seriously idiot boys doing seriously idiot things. :’)
Somehow I am inexpressibly fond of the concept of Sirius seeing a deer and immediately thinking, “Ah! Of course I shall have to leap on James’s back!” This makes me kinda headcanon that he’s made it habit to leap onto James’s back at any given opportunity, transformed or not. :D
Brilliant, as always!!! <3
Love, Eva
Author's Response:Eva, thank you so much!
Honestly, discovering inspirobot was one of my favourite things about the finale, especially because it kept providing me with prompts that were just exuding peak dumbass marauders energy, so I felt very blessed myself to be on the receiving end of that lmao! Sirius especially can be so deliciously ridiculous, so writing about the lot of them for all these silly prompts was a lot of fun, and I'm so happy you enjoyed them!
I hadn't considered how James' stag form might entice the other marauders (and especially sirius) to just randomly get piggybacks from him! I'm imagining how Sirius might just hitch rides in between classes now, and I'm absolutely loving that image!

Lmaooo these boys are so stupid and also hilarious that i love your writing of them so much!! They get up to so much stupid shit and think they’re invincible and invisible and unheard, but of course they aren’t. Love the bits with narrowly missing mcgonagall and mrs norris too -- seems fitting it would take padfoot to scare mrs norris away!! *joy emoji* i love that they think peter is being super shady but he’s really just trying to get some money to save up so he can rent his own place in wizarding london after he graduates. The boy is just trying to get a head start on his future -- james and sirius can’t fault him for that! :P I also enjoy that he’s selling gillyweed, of all things too to fund this quest of his *joy emoji*

James and Sirius definitely think they're all that when really, they're a bunch of preposterous goofuses! If anything they're being more noticeable under the cloak than if they'd just walked down the corridors like normal people lmao - but of course, there'd be no sense of adventure in that :P

Hi again! Okay wow this is super fucking cute and i love everything about this!! It’s also like,, super interesting to htink about the whole idea of puppy dog eyes and how humans just immediately fall for them, so when sirius can’t get his way as a human, he just turns into his fucking animagus form and remus turns over just like that *joy emoji* remus having multiple huge stacks of books on his bed along with bits of parchment seems very in character for him. They are super cute and i love how even though sirius is a rather *large* black dog, he’s still able to fit comfortably (somewhat, I presume) on remus’s lap while still allowing remus to do some work. Cuties all round, 10/10 would read a longer fic of them like this!!

hehe, I feel like sirius is exactly the type of person (or dog) to make the most out of puppy dog eyes, so I just really liked the idea of him using his literal puppy dog eyes if the regular ones just won't cut it :P And the concept of 'four poster beds' always just sounded so grand to me that I thought they must be much larger than a regular single bed, so i guess they're just big enough to fit a boy, his books, and a massive black dog :D

This is the last drabble I am physically able to read and review after this crazy HC finale and I am so glad it was this particular one because it is brilliantly funny and literally gave me the energy and laughter I needed to pick myself up and got have a shower after this. Now back to the topic of your story !
I am not even surprised that Padfoot would come up with something this demented, and yet I'm still in awe at that dumb bravery that he just thought it would be a good idea, though at the same time I'm thinking, honest mistake? I mean, he does hang out with a deer so! But still, this is so hilarious when I picture it.
My favorite part was Remus' mock tirade about how Sirius should report this, along with spilling the unregisered animagi bit. An yet he still has to gues HUH? when Remus is like you want advice going forward from this?
Haha I loved this. I will definitely come back and read more of this :)

HC finales can be a bit exhausting sometimes, so I'm gla this revived you a bit! :P It's also very telling that I'm responding during yet another HC event but oh well!
Anyway, I'm super happy you enjoyed this! I feel like human-Sirius often doesn't have the brightest of ideas, and that's definitely exacerbated for dog-Sirius, which is why he would absolutely try to jump a random deer in the forest :P

Hiya Julia! Wow what a wild ride (pun ABSOLUTELY intended) this little drabble was! *joy emoji* Of COURSE Sirius is a dumbass who thinks a literal regular deer is James, and of course he gets beaten up by said deer for it. It just makes sense. Also he clearly doesn’t know that deer freeze when they see a potential predator attacking if they can’t get away, that’s why we have the deer in the headlights saying. Although I do enjoy that Remus gives him shit right back for doing such a stupid thing even if he should have gone to see Madam Pomfrey even though he knew it wouldn’t happen because of the ludicrousity of his actions in the first place. Great job with this, well done!

I enjoy Sirius being a dumbass so muh, it's often at the heart of my Marauders stories (because he just has peak dumbass energy), especially if it allows me to write snarky sarcastic Remus responding to his antics - so really this was all very self-indulgent, and I love that you enjoyed it so much!

Oh, wow, I definitely was not expecting this -- something so unabashedly nice and wholesome and earnest from Sirius. And the compliment was completely unprompted, too, which makes it even more impressive. But yeah, I can totally see their usual dynamic as Sirius saying some prat thing that’s actually really rude and Peter just sort of dealing with it. I’ve enjoyed this series of drabbles so much, and maybe this one more than any of the others I would love to know what inspired you here.
You really get their dynamics throughout, it’s just so wholesome and enjoyable and funny but realistic, and I love that so much. Humor is so great when it’s real and attainable, like when you read it and you could see the same kinds of things happening with people you actually know.
Thank you for writing these!

Haha, the prompt for this one was "You are inspiring. Like the average guy" superimposed using four(!) different fonts over the image of some kid skiing and looking like the epitome of cool - so pretty much exactly what Sirius says right off the bat! That was actually one of the first prompts inspirobot generated for me, and I thought it was super funny so I saved it, but I didn't know what to do with it until like, 20 minutes before the deadline :P
If I'm honest, I also didn't expect this one to turn out so heartfelt, so Sirius ended up surprising me there! But yeah, I definitely agree that they're usual dynamic involves a lot of Sirius being rude and condescending to Peter, not necessarily intentionally, but Peter gets a lot of shit from him - so I really wanted to turn that upside down!
I'm so glad you enjoyed these!

Ahh, I love this little explanation for how they truly became best friends. Apparently all it took was being asshats to each other first (well, Sirius moreso). It’s like the enemies to lovers trope, except… enemies to friends! Or frenemies to friends. Anyway, it’s a super fun little story, and I’m lol-ing at the third step, “live in fear,” but maybe even more at step four. And I just love their interaction at the end, how Sirius seems genuinely contrite and seems to realize he really did go too far, and James just lets it roll off him. Like, I imagine James can get super upset about things, but he knows when someone really meant to do him wrong and when they didn’t.
I just love me some good James-Sirius bromance, and this is it.

haha, all the headings for the different steps were generated by inspirobot, I was truly blessed when it came to prompt-creation :D
I feel both James and Sirius must have been horrendously arrogant asshats in their first year, so I think it's super likely they must have clashed at some point! But yeah, this was a really fun way of showing this pivotal moment for Sirius, and what really made him question the way he'd been raised (to do whatever it takes to win) and whether he really wants to go down that path (absolutely not) so I'm glad you liked the little interaction at the end!
