Oh, no.
OH, NO.
PETER.
Close call!
Ok, yeah, first of all, I don’t know why it totally never occurred to me before that students were bringing rats as pets when rats were never on the approved list?? Like Ron did, and Percy before him. How funny.
And yeah, Peter’s animagic seems in various ways a blessing and a curse. He’s able to go undetected and sneak into small spaces, but he’s also so much more vulnerable -- and I would never have imagined him getting scooped up to be put with the other rats to be used in potions, omg!!
Bessy, hahaha. Fabulous, all of it.

Author's Response:Hi Melanie, thank you so much for reviewing!
I like to think the Hogwarts administration is far too busy worrying about a castle full of reckless teenage magic users to really care about enforcing the pet rule as long as the pets are halfway reasonable (like, don't bring anything lethal, but if you want to bring your budgie or your chinchilla, what's stopping you?) so there's probably a fair few pets that aren't technically approved in the castle every year!
Peter's animagus form is definitely super useful when it comes to sneaking around (and infinitely more so than a giant dog, or a fully grown stag) but it does put him in danger a fair bit!

OMG, your narrative voice is just delightful. I feel it is a crime that I haven’t read your other stuff yet, and I will be remedying that. But this is just such a fun read, and the breaking of the fourth wall works so well here. It’s just so cheeky.
Yes, we all know one of those genetically gifted people like James, and they are abhorrent to live with on days like these. Whistling. JAMES. That whole paragraph beginning with “Twas the morning after” was just perfection. As was the very last line -- SO GOOD, so funny. (And I always love a well-placed “I swear to Godric.”)

Author's Response:Hi Melanie, thank you so much for reviewing!
the latter half of this drabble was essentially me living out my fantasy of being a Victorian novelist and having my omniscient narrator address the reader directly, and I had a lot of fun with that, so it's super pleasing to hear you found that funny as well!
And we all know James is commiting crimes being so chipper in the morning that hedares whistle - on any day really, but all the more so when all his dorm mates are terribly hungover :P

Ahh Peter dealing Gillyweed so he can move out of his mum’s place, I love it. And I am fully behind the idea that James would not like to know he’s being left out of something by one of his friends, no matter how lame.
I love so much the idea of them using the cloak even when they don’t need to. It’s so silly and ridiculous of them, like I can imagine these 17-year-old boys just constantly needing to feel like everything is an adventure and they’re really badass even when they’re just strolling around during normal hours.

Author's Response:Hi Melanie, thanks for reviewing!
I like to think of the marauders as fundamentally silly (if I'm not going in an angsty direction, haha) so I love that the idea of them being over the top ridiculous and pretending to be sneaky resonated with you! They definitely think they're all cool and adventurous when, really, they're just a bunch of nerds!

THIS. IS SO CUTE.
“Using your actual puppy eyes,” stahhhhhp. OMG I now 100% accept as canon that Sirius transforms into a dog to be adorable when he’s not getting his way, it is SENDING ME.
I don’t know if I have ever had such warm and fuzzy feelings reading fanfic (or, ever??) as I do reading about Sirius curling up with Remus in dog form. Yet AGAIN I feel compelled to say that I am so amazed that this is something I have not read before in fic but I have to wonder why I haven’t because it seems so incredibly obvious and right??
This was equal parts funny and touching and just perfect friendship.

You talking about the fuzzy feelings this gave you is now giving ME all the fuzzies! This review is so incredibly sweet, and I love that you enjoyed Sirius's particular use of the puppy dog eyes! I feel like, with him being an actual dog, that's something he'd definitely do to get what he wants (which is usually (Remus') attention :P) so I'm super happy you found that convincing!

Hi Julia, ooooh I saw you did a whole bunch of drabbles themed around the Marauders and I am here for it.
THIS. IS BRILLIANT. Sirius tried to ride James (or a deer he thought was James), I am rolllling! Like, idk why this is actually the first time I’ve ever read a story idea about this? It sounds like something Sirius would 100% try to do. (But lol at Sirius’s genuine belief that James was just hanging out alone in stag form for no apparent reason??)
Remus is perfectly Remus, a good friend, subtly snarky, probably on some level thinks this is freaking hilarious, but he’ll never admit it.
LOVE.

Author's Response:Melanie, thank you so much for your review!! (all of them really, because I absolutely loved reading them when I first got them, AND reading them again now!)
I'm so pleased that you found them funny - the combination of absurdist inspirobot prompts and marauders' hijinks was too irresistible not to turn it into something extremely silly, so I'm glad that came across for you! Sirius is being an idiot of course (a common theme :P) and Remus is orn between rolling his eyes and trying to supress laughter (another common theme)!

Good morning, Julia, my dear!
Jumping here for the broom race, hope you don't mind (I'll have to come back to this collection and read and review all the chapters, because this is so brilliant! :P)
Okay, but, I adore your Marauders! :D Your portrayal of them is wonderful and rings so true, at least with the way I see them! :P I could totally see Sirius doing something like that... and then poor Remus having to tend to the injuries... :P So typical, and so funny! :D
I'd be impressed if it wasn't so horrifically stupid, it's such a Remus thing to say! :P And, to be fair, it is kind of impressive that Sirius managed to approach the deer enough to jump on its back. :P Poor deer... can't blame it for its reaction! I mean, I would react badly too if someone suddenly tried to piggyback me... :P
And Animals love Padfoot! is such a Sirius thing to say :P Just as is Me, the brave hero, and you, the diligent, caring nurse patching me up. He couldn't be more conceited if he tried, but I love him that way! :P
And Remus' reply... The insufferable prat and his long-suffering friend, more like. Sorry if this review is mostly me quoting pieces of dialogue back at you, but every bit of dialogue is so brilliant and I can't help myself! I couldn't even pick a favourite, because each line is so hilarious and 100% what they would say! And now I'm trying to imagine Madam Pomfrey if she actually had to suffer through that conversation... but I guess at this point she would just tend them and refuse to ask questions, because any answer would just give her a headache... :P
"Don't piggyback wild animals." That seems pretty wise life advice... the kind of advice everyone would need to get... or maybe not? :P Remus, I love you! <3
Julia, I adore you! You are the absolute best! I'll try to be back here very soon! <3 <3 <3
Snowball hug,
Chiara
Author's Response:Chiara, thank you so much for your review!
AAHHH I love this review so much, thank you!! When I got this inspiribot prompt I absolutely knew I had to write about the marauders, because who else but Sirius would ever need to be told not to jump on a wild animal? :P It means so much that you enjoyed my silly little depiction of the Marauders, and of Remus especially, because I know how much you love them, so the fact that you found them convincing and funny is super encouraging!!
