Back for more Gina! Also, oh my god, I am losing it because Seamus burning himself while being a barista?! What a perfect way to showcase that little bit of canon? I loved it so much!
And uh oh Draco's staring from across the cafe! It would totally be just like Luna to say "I see something he's going through," like in his aura or something. But I think it's also important that she doesn't quite make excuses for him and clearly agrees with Hermione on the issue.
I am totally for being in a cafe as long as it remains a decent level of quiet. When it becomes to bustling, I too, need to retreat. And I love that Hermione, being a Sociology major, views The Bachelor as a social experiment. I felt it justified why she would enjoy something like that. Not that she really needs justification for enjoying something like that, but I did enjoy the way you described that.
Also omg Jesus Draco with your "Are you a virgin stuff?" Good on Hermione for giving him a piece of her mind! He deserved that!
I am curious how they will get together in this, but Draco seems to believe they are more similar than Hermione thinks. So I'm sure there will be more on that as the stories goes on. And I truly do hope it will go on! I really enjoyed these opening chapters and feel like you've placed these characters in such a realistic setting!

Gina this is an absolutely brilliant fic and I am sad that there are only two chapters of it on the archives! Like truly, this is full of such wit and placing these characters in a Modern AU in this way is absolutely fitting. I love Hermione and Ginny's friendship dynamic and how there is already an awkward Ronmione backstory.
The "fuck my brother," // "nope not doing that again," dialogue made me cackle. Also, the way their conversations were interrupted by the crowd cheering at the soccer game is a totally relatable thing. And you wrote it so smoothly! I loved the feel of that moment. It also prolongs the whole "what happened to Ron and Hermione?" thing a bit longer, so that's a great choice from a writing standpoint. :)
Also, the creative writing class?! As someone who studied English Lit, I am a nerd for the kind of work that Hermione is doing! I love how you go into detail about the kind of papers she is writing.
The parallel between how Hermione storms out of the class in the books and how she does so in this universe was a total chef's kiss moment. Great job there!
Also, the title of this story, I mean...it's just a classic misogynistic turn of phrase, right? So the fact that this story is very gun hoe feminism and it's using that title...I love the choice you made there!

I'm already loving this story! I love the bit about Prof. Trelawney and her creative writing class!
Gina!! Lo recced this and I was flabbergasted I hadn’t read this yet because I love your Dramione stuff!
I am sad this only has one chapter up so far because we haven’t even gotten to the good good Dramione ~content~ yet but you have set us up quite spectacularly, so I am excited nonetheless. I never would have thought Hermione would be in a sorority in a modern AU, but you make it seem so legit that I can believe it! You do a great job with detailing her best friendship with Ginny and how it’s different for this AU while still maintaining that charm we missed out on in canon. Harry being a star soccer player seems so oddly fitting to me, but I can’t put my finger on why that is :joy: YES Hermione walking out of Trelawney’s creative writing class is a nice nod to her walking out of Divination class in third year, I LOVE IT! I look forward to seeing what you do and how Draco gets involved more than just as being a stuck up asshole as described in conversations :P

Fairy foxy review event
Hi, Gina!! I’m here because Emily told me this story was amazing and wonderful and so I wanted to take the opportunity to read it! AND IT’S SO GOOD. I’m usually not a Dramione shipper -- I’m open to it, but I often have to get over the hurdle of believing why Hermione would like him -- so this AU set-up is absolutely brilliant omg. I love the way you depict this side of college life; it’s so different from my own experiences so I also feel like I’m experiencing an entirely new world reading this haha!
The way you adapted the Harry Potter universe into this college setting is INCREDIBLE. I love love love each character -- how Ginny is in the sorority with Hermione, how Neville is one of those quiet kids who enjoys sketching, and most of all how Luna enjoys creative writing (and that Trelawney is the teacher :’D) -- and your characterizations of them are utterly brilliant!! I particularly love Hermione’s aversion to Divination getting transferred over to Creative Writing!! It’s actually something that I found out recently, that plenty of very smart people who are capable of pocketing huge amounts of difficult information in their massive brains simply cannot write a good story, which is so funny to me (but unfortunate to Hermione :P). The way you wrote her humiliation in Trelawney’s classroom!! If I were Hermione I probably would have died of embarrassment; it’s somehow so much worse than the mini-humiliation Trelawney gave her in the books omg. I also love the reference with the “there is only one of you” line. :D
I am so excited to see more of her interactions with Draco! I wonder what happened between her and Ron, though -- did she cheat on him somehow? I’M SO CURIOUS. Please update soon? <3
Love, Eva
Gina hiiiii hello here for some rvg and for zoom zoom on the broom brooms! the summary for this story hooked me right in and i have to say the story did as well! this is SO GOOD!
i love a good college au and i have to say i don't really read many with the characters from this era but i love the way you brought so many familiar pieces into it! hermione walking out on trelewany and luna being a little spacy, ginny's personality in general! i really enjoyed so much of that, it felt so true to to what we already know but still you also did a really great job at making this college world your own!
i'm super excited to see more hermione and draco action! the brief glimpses we got of him were definitely not super flattering and based on the first but of chatter we got about him between hermione and ginny, i cant blame her for not liking the guy. i'm also looking forward to this yogurt eating competition, which definitely has the potential for some hilarity. this was so great gina! i love all the details you've given us so far and the character introductions (god i didnt even TOUCH on ron and how terrible he is) were so amazing and i'm definitely excited for any more to come!
GINA. OMG GINA.
You might know that I'm on a mission to read and review every Dramione on HPFT. But you might be surprised to know that this is the only AU Dramione we have! I've only recently started reading AUs, and I'm so glad I had the introduction from other fics since I think that made me appreciate this story even more.
I have to say that this is AMAZING. It's going in my favorites, which is a big deal for me since I don't often remember that function even exists. But you've done such a good job capturing Hermione here that it made me think, "Wow, this may be one of my favorite Hermione portrayals I've read," and then I was stoked to remember I can favorite things! :D
Anyway, haha.
So, the plot is fabulous. You've merged HP characters into a modern AU seamlessly. I love that Trelawney is the creative writing teacher. I was 100% tempted to walk out of a creative writing class in college, and I majored in it. But the teacher was a total ass, so I felt that scene viscerally.
Interaction-wise, I adore everything. Hermione and Ginny's friendship is fantastic (and is an element that's too often ignored in fanfics). Ron being a jerk was everything my Romione hating heart longs for.
The characters are all incredible. I've mentioned how much I love your Hermione, but everyone else is amazing too. Neville being sweet and artsy was fantastic. Harry being a soccer player is amazing. And Draco being a douchey frat guy is EVERYTHING I HAVE EVER WANTED IN A STORY. I love him so much, but damn is it fun to rag on him before he and Hermione get together. XD
Speaking of: do you know how excited I am to properly meet Draco? Because I am so excited!
This is a wonderful start to this story! I'm excited to read more! :D Thanks for a great read!
Sincerely,
Emily
I'm from the UK so have no idea about the Greek system other than what TV/Movies have taught me. I know Delta Nu is Elle Woods' sorority in Legally Blonde, and that's about it. What an additional Pi means, I do not know.
I mean, I'm not going to say I like Ron being a knob-head and reasons to dislike him, but I do like being given reasons to dislike Ron. Don't ask me why, because I also really like his character, but when he's a knob and I can bash him... delightful.
“I’m the only girl,” she said with a smirk. “I got all the brains, obviously.” - honestly, this is peak Ginny energy, and I am here for it.
Creative writing with professor Trelawny :') delightful. Even the exercise she had them do reminds me of something we had to do in a linguistics class when I was 17. Wild. Why are teachers like this. Glad to see Hermione snap back about being called out like that so openly in the class. I would've been fuming too. Props to her for not angry crying.
I was eating when I read the line: Katie was nodding. “Yogurt does bear a striking resemblance to semen.”
I can't wait for the next installment to see where this goes.
hi gina, i’m here with your challenge entry review!
oh man, this whole opening section takes me back - it’s a spot-on description of the pure mess that is a frat party. also lmao at dean winning hottest ass, that’s hilarious
i actually laughed out loud at the part where hermione said that draco tried to mansplain feminism to her, that honestly sounds exactly like the sort of shit a modern au version of draco would do
but i love all of the ways you’ve fit these characters into this modern universe - harry as the soccer star, professor trelawney as a creative writing professor (more on that later), and katie bell as the sorority president. they all just fit into the story so well!
i love the harry/hermione friendship here - he definitely does need hermione around to both keep him humble and make sure he actually does his schoolwork :P
and i love the ginny/hermione friendship as well - i think they’re such good characters and i love that ginny’s still supportive of hermione after her relationship with ron went sour (will we learn more about what actually happened between those two?? i’m so curious, because clearly from ron’s behavior things did not exactly end smoothly)
i laughed at “After five kids, my parents were scraping the bottom of the genetic barrel. His poor brain… it never stood a chance.” lol poor ron
frat boys in compromising positions during a yogurt-eating contest is the funniest mental image, thank you for that
agh and then this whole last scene with trelawney was such a great modern au interpretation of that scene in divination class - trelawney claiming hermione ‘doesn’t have the gift’ and hermione just being like ‘yeah ok fuck this i’m out,’ i just love it so much.
i’m so excited to see where this story goes - i’ll definitely be back for more once the next two chapters are posted! thanks for entering my challenge! <3

Hi Gina, I’m here for the 2020 House Cup Finale
Great job showing us different aspects of Hermione’s life. I feel like, by the end of the chapter, I understand the girl and her world.
I completely agree to the frat party. Most of them are too hot and too sweaty (and I have no doubt that Dean won a trophy. I just wonder if it was awarded by a sorority or his own fraternity-actually maybe I don’t want to know that.
Not much Draco here, but we do get a taste and what a jerk. Poor Hermione seems only to be attracted to jerky boys. (I can’t believe Ron didn’t even help her up. How juvenile can you get?) Of course, I’m sure she’ll deny being attracted to Draco, but I bet she’ll be hyper focused on him next chapter.
I love the scene in the creative writing class, nice parallel to the book. Although I felt it was a bit out of left field to walk out of the class like that. She hadn’t great animosity prior to that event, so it was a big surprising. I think she should have gone into that class already disgusted with the teacher.
I love the yogurt contest. I hope you actually write about that event. I look forward to seeing how much of hot mess it turns into. I look forward to chapter 2!
Hello, hello Gina! Here for review swap and RvG and also because this sounds like such a fun story!!!
Okay I am already a huge fan of greek row type stories/tv shows/movies, and the visuals you have in the first paragraph alone are fricken on point!
LOL DEAN!!! OMG!!! That part was great, I loved it. Such a small detail and totally what college kids are like at a party 100/10! I mean I’m a hardcore Hinny (from the books) fan, but I’m okay with this Dean/Ginny situation… for now! ;)
I MEAN IT REALLY IS ALL GREEK LIFE IS GOOD FOR (lol sorry, I’m not a fan of greek life, except for the veterinarian frat at a university my ex went to… they have a pig as a mascot and once it escaped and was found like 3 hrs later grazing in front of the library, but i digress)
Yeah, of course Dean won a trophy. I get it. Dean be looking fine in a nice pair of jeans. Please discuss his merits at great lengths.
I’m going to take a moment out of my review to pre and post-emptively apologize for what’s happening right now and as this review continues… I’m attributing it to me being soooo into these types of stories and your writing compliments this style so perfectly and it’s two things I love blended together so seamless and wonderfully <3
MALE! FRAGILITY! I don’t think I’ve ever loved anyone’s characterization of Ginny Weasley as much as I do in this moment. Male. Fragility. MALE FRAGILITY! *chef’s kiss* ALSO WHAT A GREAT FRIEND, I LOVE THIS FRIENDSHIP AHHHHHH
SOCCER?!?!?! THIS HAS SOCCER?!??!? <3 <3 <3 add another thing i love to the ever-growing list please.
WAIT IM SO CONFUSED?!??! Did he accidentally bump into her? What? How? Are you that clumsy Ronald??? (jk, i love you ron, although maybe not in this story)
I mean Neville is a solid dude. I love him, he’s such a good friend. Oooooh Dean is back!! ;)
Oliver? Oliver Wood? The love of my life?!?!??!?!?! IN A GREEK LIFE ROMANCE FIC THAT HAS SOCCER AND NOW OLIVER FREAKING WOOD??????? *faints*
I’M SORRY IS SHE NOW SIGNED UP FOR A YOGURT EATING COMPETITION??????? I am both confused and so excited.
Man, loving this Trelawney parallel, it is SUCH a creative writing class thing for a prof to do that! And then of course harkening back to actual Hogwarts and daaaang, I loved it!
OMG YES PLEASE WRITE AND POST THOSE CHAPTERS, I ABSOLUTELY NEED THEM ASAP!!!!!
Thank you so much for the review swap, and thank you so so much for writing this, it is absolutely 100/10 amazing and I loved every piece of it!!!!!!! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
Lo <3
I'm usually not super into complete and total AUs from the Potterverse but I'm a sucker for a good college fic and this one is so much fun so far! It feels from the start of the story that we're really in the setting with the characters and they're not just kind of here for just the story, like they've always existed, they've had full lives before we come in and get to meet them/see little bits and pieces of their lives and stories and I really love that!! Definitely looking forward to reading more!
Hey Gina,
here for our swap!
So dramione isn't a normal pairing for me to be reading but I'm interested by the AU aspect and story shell so excited to be here!
you have such a way with words! I love how you're able to make the simple things seems so like artistic and beautiful? I love that you're describing a drunken frat house and something about your writing is making it come out feel like vivid and rich. I feel like nailing the description is part of your brand as a writer though. I also think you use words really well too. I get the feeling that you really think about the words and I feel like there is something behind them. I think it makes your writing very meaningful.
I love how you've painted portrayed Ginny and Hermione's friendship. I always felt that JKR could have done more with female friendships so thank god for fan fic. I think they really bounce off each other nicely. I love Ginny's attitude in the first scene. She is just so unbothered. Draco sounds like a delight but enemies to lovers is something I can totally get behind. Perhaps they'll be good for each other.
I love to read muggle AU to see how the author is able to weave in details from the source material. I love so much of what you set up here! Harry on the football scholarship is a cool idea for a back story and the ex-boyfriend Ron. eeeek! Ginny continues to be brilliant side character! I felt this chapter was really good at setting things up! Hermione seems true to the books but I love the modern spin on her character to make her your own. I'm really looking forward to see her and draco's interacting because I think it'll be electric!
Abbi xx
(using for rvg too :P)
