Hi Paula! Here for a fairyland dance but also for the story!

This fandom is soooo intriguing, and I really want to read the original source text.

Once again, the chemistry between Jude and Cardan is *chef's kiss* incredible. Of course, I don't quite have the complete context of their relationship, but I enjoy reading the tension between them, both sexual and otherwise. The way that Cardan teases her and gets her to concede was really funny to read, and the guilt Jude feels about using her hold over him to command him to tell her why he's so nervous was really spot on, too. They have such a complex relationship, and the chemistry/tension is there, and yet... they have so much room to grow and develop into something that will (hopefully) be a healthy romantic relationship! In other words, they really need to learn how to communicate with each other and build on their trust!

But I see you planting the seeds there with Jude's guilt and with Cardan offering to spend more time with Oak. I am nervous about how Jude acknowledges that Cardan has given her hope, since she's wary of his authenticity, and I really hope he doesn't use that hope to manipulate her (because I wanna stan a healthy Jude/Cardan ship sooooo badly, lol).

Another great chapter! You write these characters so well!

Hey Paula! Here for the fairyland review event!

I am so very intrigued by this fandom, about which I know next to nothing, but "Folk of the Air" seems very enticing, especially if the fandom centers on fairie/fey folklore.

So how did someone who is unfamiliar with this fandom enjoy this opening chapter?

I loved it! There is so much going on, and I take it that Jude can go between realms (the "mortal" realm, or ours, and whatever the one Cardan rules). But I love how you portray that, weaving in mentions of future plans and using the concept of Target as a bit of a running gag (Cardan the king of Target? lolol). So I think this opening chapter does a great job giving us a setting and a bit about this world, I definitely have a sense that something is going on, and I'm intrigued by what possibly this Balekin character is plotting.

Now, that chemistry between Jude and Cardan, wowzer, someone open a window because it is HOT in here!!! Cardan is a giant flirt and a button pusher--I am so curious about his backstory and also his backstory with Jude. They are setting off major frenemies to lovers vibes (I think they're frenemies, at least, since they seem to be allies, but Jude seems to have pretty strict boundaries with Cardan). Is it too early to say that I'm already kind of invested in them? Hahha, if anything, I think they make a quirky team, so whatever Balekin is plotting, he better watch out!

Okay so this really is telling me I need to read the series this fanfic is about because I am loving the interaction of the fae and human worlds in this chapter. Obviously as the fae look similar to humans they can semi-blend into the mortal world, but the little bits about Cardan and Oak being, like, amazed at the movie theater tickets and everything is hilarious and a fun trope to have in what is more of a serious story. Jude clearly has some trust issues with Cardan, but also knows she needs him to remain King for her own plans to work, and begrudgingly accepts his attempt at friendship, or whatever it is, that he’s trying to do by pestering her to tag along to the movies with her sister and brother. I am curious how this ties into canon material/canon worldbuilding, but overall this is very intriguing and I like all of the characters so far as they have very defined character traits that make it easy to read their lines in a different voice. Great job :)

Hey Paula!

So I am not familiar with this fandom but, um,,, I am INTERESTED now!! *eyes emoji* Clearly these two characters have a tenuous relationship as it is, and the power dynamics and mental games they play with each other just add to the tension & friction here, which I love. I also love me some good fey and fey politics, so I honestly don’t know how I haven’t stumbled upon this fandom yet! Jude seems like a great character and like she’s got a lot on her plate but also that she can handle it. Cardan is a dark king (is he king? I’m assuming so, but feel free to correct me if I’m wrong!) and clearly has a lot of depth to him and cogs constantly turning in his head. What a great start to this fic! :)
