hello catherine,
here for galazy reviewing event :)
i'm back, woo. rose is just so logical like you really think she might be more emotional about being arrest but she's also smart though. I love nora is having her own moment as rose is arrested. she does very well under pressure in this chapter but when she realizes that she is being treated more about the suspect in this murder.
I love her getting the face of xavier and pushing her own agenda which is so rose and so perfect but maybe she has a point. a show of power is the important for the police sometimes or so the media has led me to believe. Rose is in this at the moment, suggesting that she was involved in death at 15?? he is really going after rose! I love that so much it's Scorpius that she is calling. I guess he knows her and the case. this is getting so juicy!

Hi, here for another galazy review :)
Oh Hugo the Healer-in-training. He's just adorable and he obviously cares for Rose more than she wants to let him. And the Granger-Weasley family dynamic is explored so well here from a distance. Rose really does need to break down and rebuild after the death of her ex-boyfriend and I thought she came close with her outburst at Hugo. It sounds as though Rose still harbours some resentment regarding her parents' expectations, and perhaps there are other reasons at play here for why Rose doesn't visit home as regularly as her parents would like. I love how Hugo is able to coax reason out of Rose, though, and get her to commit to some form of contact with her parents, and also how he somehow makes her feel a little bit better about things by raking up an old nickname. Definitely would love to see Hugo more in this story, and looking forward to finding out where we go next on this murder(?) hunt...

Hey catherine,
here for galazy reviewing event :)
this is such a good chapter, I was half thinking that we wouldn't get to see Adam but i'm so pleased that he turned up. he's such a good character, I loved his banter with Rose. I thought the dialogue in their section was so perfect. Rose is tough but so is adam. You've brought some many new things to the table like the mother as the killer?? adam seems convinced about that. so I'm interested in that.
rose and scorpius slept together?! is that why they Abel and Rose broke up but that was ages ago? sorta explains some stuff about scorpius I guess. Scorpius seemed quite ready to jump to Rose's defense though. I love tough Rose but she is sometimes a bit dislikeable. I love that Scorpius and Rose have history though.
I'm kinda not surprised that rose has been arrested as such? like i don't know what they've found on her but she has all her nose in this investigation from the start so it's understandable that they picked her up. I'm not sure quite why it had to be so public though. I guess for the drama but I'm really excited for the next chapter. I know Rose is going to deal herself like a boss! some very interesting developments in this chapter!

Hi again! Back with another galazy review!
I find it so sad that both Draco and Scorpius seem to have turned to alcohol to drown their sorrows, especially Scorpius if he started drinking as soon as he was legally able and carried the habit on :( Although, not gonna lie, there's something quite amusing and endearing about a pissed Scorpius speaking in an unnecessarily posh accent, but he's going to destroy himself if he carries on in this manner. What can Rose do to help him out of this habit?
But he doesn't seem to know where Adam lives, or if he does, he's not letting on (WHY would he need to keep Adam's location a secret from Rose), and I had my suspicions about Mr Zampatori a couple of chapters ago as he wasn't the Geronimo family's usual lawyer, so his presence at the house was certainly unusual. Is there some strange link between Astoria's and Abel's deaths too?? Or am I reading too much into things?!
Hooked on this story!

Hey!
here for the galazy reviewing event :)
yay! another chapter, i think it's interesting that the coat has moved. Rose is very clever for noticing that coat and she's on his tail so maybe we might get closer to the truth but maybe it is a distraction? what if adam is also pretty clever himself? I'm just trying to come up with theories but I don't have anything too solid so much, I guess I like Rose then haha.
so rose and hermione seems like an complicated dynamic like they're very similar to it kinda makes sense that they would clash quite a lot. Rose seems to hold a lot of resentment towards her mother. that'll be something interesting to explore. Rose seems so cold after she had left. I guess she is busy but Hermione cares. Just at least I think that's the reason. that's very interesting. I can't wait for next chapter (man, i love that you've already written it so no waiting for me!! :D)

Hi again! Back for another galazy review :)
Whoa, Rose was pushing her luck there with Mrs Geronimo!! Not just with asking her about Abel's tax filing status, but also taking a quick jaunt upstairs, allegedly in search of a toilet, haha! Just as well that Anna was in her room. And she'd kept the note. I wonder what Adam wanted to speak to Abel about, and why Anna and their mother shouldn't know? Is this all connected with Mr Geronimo's death? And where is Adam now? I'm presuming he must have heard of his brother's passing, even if he is in hiding...but Scorpius might know where Adam's flat is??
This is one tangled web but I'm absolutely loving the process of unravelling who committed the crime, how and why. I don't think Anna did it, but maybe Victor is kinda suspicious (even though we haven't heard much about him yet).
Meera <3
hey,
here for the galazy reviewing event :)
it was really cool to see a bit more of scorpius and from his pov was something a bit different! I love seeing you explore a bit more of his alcoholism and how that does effect his every day life. it must hard to be out and about with drinking when you're struggling. you portrayed that really well I thought. I think seeing Rose from his perspective wasn't very nice. I love girl boss Rose but valid that other people don't see her like that. Scorpius obviously has something that interests him in connection to Rose though.
I thought she was mean to talk about his drinking though. I also think showing up at Anna's house was bad of her. at least she admitted that she was there to interview her drunk also not great. might be helpful information! the dramatic conversation with the parents though. there are secrets there. I thought we knew this but i'm very interested, things are heating up nicely. can't wait for what is going to come. I wish I was a person good at figuring these things out!

Hi again!
I love the observation that wizards with money have great long driveways, yet don't drive, haha! I wonder why exactly Mrs Geronimo doesn't like Rose? Did she feel that Rose wasn't good enough for her son? Was there another underlying reason? And if she is contesting the will, shouldn't she be on the suspects list? There's definitely some animosity there when Mrs Geronimo refers to Rose. And I wonder why the family lawyer isn't presiding over this matter? Interesting that Rose points out that Mrs Geronimo didn't grieve for her husband, nor does she appear to be grieving for her son. This is pretty strange, admittedly! Is Abel not really her son?
Mrs Geronimo probably isn't particularly thrilled to hear that Rose will continue her involvement in the case, haha! I wonder if two murders are going to be uncovered here - that of Abel and his father?
:eyes:

Hi! Back for a galazy review :)
There's certainly a fair list of suspects for Rose and Scorpius to investigate. I wonder who the person who slipped the note under the door is, and whether we've already met them in this story? They must be familiar with Abel's security systems but perhaps hadn't visited in the days leading up to Abel's death if they were unaware of the security camera installed by Rose.
I'm kind of surprised that Abel's mother is contesting the will but it's also very curious that Abel's father did something equally strange with his will and left everything to Abel rather than his wife?
I'm sure squeaky Nora is probably harmless, but I'm going to add her to my list of suspects just because, haha! Really enjoying this story so far :)
Meera <3
and back again for the event!
i continue to hate elizabeth
rose is playign with fire damn
lol a staring contest
oh damn rose what re you getting yourself into
i mean, fair, but also, maybe do try and think?
rose what are you doing
oooh anna
oh yeah no that isnt good, she wants her lawyer? what the hell even is on that note
oh shit thats a lot of money
yeah no maybe best to keep it for yourself indeed
thats nice
damn, thats a long time
anna has a dark way of talking, but interesting that scorpius of all people might know
i have faith in you rose
damn even more reasons to dislike elizabeth
did scorpius leave on his own then?
damn, so many questions, but im sure theyll get solved eventually
Hi! I'm back for a galazy review :)
I love the fact that in this story, Draco's past is largely irrelevant when it comes to Scorpius making friends at Hogwarts. Which is how it should be; Scorpius, like any person, cannot be held responsible for his family's behaviour during the war. And I enjoyed getting to know a bit of background information.
Abel has certainly died in very suspicious circumstances. Traces of peanut, enough to kill him, but then he dies of a suspected heart-attack? It's almost as though someone has gone overboard with trying to kill him using more than one method. And why would he leave his estate to someone he didn't particularly get along with? Who is next in line for the inheritance if Adam cannot collect it? So many questions! I'm looking forward to seeing how Rose and Scorpius begin to unravel this one together whilst developing their own relationship.
Meera <3
hii catherine, and im back yet again for the event!
it is quite odd, isnt it? youd expect a lot of cars
i want to hug scorpius
lol, roasted
so when did she start to hate rose
gallant of him, and im disliking elizabeth more and more
interesting
i hate her
i mean i get that its nasty but no need to be hostile
must be fucking hard, walking past moving portraits of people you just lost
lovely position to be in
oooooooooh scorpius is going straight for the kill
im impressed too
i love him
i wonder who of the two is right, even though scorpius has a v good point
how can you not mourn a person
that is entirely correct, bully for you
yess rose lay it down for them
love this!
hii catherine! back again for the event!
i feel for rose, bc thats the absolute worst
how does the manage that and not spill a damn thing?
oh ugh
straight to business then
nice to have an assistant like that
oooooooooh interesting
oh crap they really wanted to get in
but also interesting that they did all that just to leave a note?
he probably has not heard that, no
very valid, its a sensitive case
lovely way of greeting there, nora
course she would
yeah that doesnt sound fine at all but oh well
love that response
women usually have a shittier time in the world and at work
oh good god what even is w that family
oooh damn scorpius turned that around on rose
and he’s won. love it.
i shall be back!
hi catherine! back for the event!
it’s always nice when a pub is centrally located, tbh, and i can’t blame scorpius for being silent
i feel for scorpius, bc draco’s actions arent his mistake and, well, he cant help it, can he?
ah good, t shouldnt matter, really
common interests always help
yeah no scorpius isnt really in the mood is he
i mean, if it happened one shouldnt be too offended, right?
so not entirely her fault then
but also partially her fault so i also get why nobody comes to her defense
bittersweet, those moments, arent they?
i feel for rose, really
thats a quick turn of conversation
nice of him to offer
lol, lily is a happy drunk, nice
bit morbid to think about, right, that death brings one together and then wondering when it would happen again
oooh and the discussion starts right away
ahhh ruthless in her endeavor to get what she wants
yeah no its like its happening and dont ask questions even though theyve got a million and nothing makes sense
v sensible of rose
scorpius raises a valid point there
good questions all around
that all doesnt add up
that young? unlikely
yeah that is a risky comment indeed
i didnt think rose was going to cave, even if she lists it as a business expense
loved this, i shall be back soon!
hi,
here for the galazy reviewing event :)
Rose is so cold here but maybe I should say cool. like what's happening here? she's purely using the auror for his contacts and stuff. it's interesting because then later in the chapter that Xavier and Nora don't know the failing rose basically or the rose that she views as not good enough. suggests quite a bit of trauma to think about yourself in that way. she's obviously more comfortable in herself how but I love to see Rose's character in relation to this explored further for character development.
I love seeing this story unfold because I think it's really well pacing, the chapters are great size but also always seem to offer a little something forwards the plot each time. what is the truth?? there is something going on that family. i love nora in this chapter hehe. learning rose's ways. I can't wait to see what the next chapter is going to bring us. this mystery is so interesting.

hey catherine,
here for the galazy reviewing event :)
it's so fun to get back into this story, it's brilliant (murder-y) fun and everything is flooding back to me about this story now. Rose is such a gem, I love that she has such a strong presense in the story like she's not afraid getting stuck into this case. I love her 'state your name and purpose' right back at the guard. this girl makes business and I'm here for it. I love the role that Rose is taking on as a bit of mentor to Nora like she is testing her and trusting her a bit more now. trying to get her to come to some conclusion herself, following her gut etc., I think that's good touch. I like Nora so kinda hoping to see a bit more of her.
the daymic with Xavier is obviously very interesting as well. He is a very useful contact to have it seems. Rose put the tracker in the jacket. how interesting? she is so clever but is she protecting the wrong person in Anna perhaps. I guess it's mostly protecting herself from though. the plot thickens! I can't wait to see what happens next and look forward to the return of Scorpius soon too hopefully!

Hi, here for a galazy review!
Such a tragic beginning to this story, starting with someone's wake - and already mystery is in the air because Abel Geronimo (great name, by the way!) was Rose's ex-boyfriend. She doesn't seem too upset at the fact that he's no more if she wants to appear like she's trying...I wonder what happened between them? And how did Abel die? He was twenty-four, in the prime of his life, yet had written a will so might have had a suspicion that someone wanted to do away with him? :eyes: The Geronimo family history and dynamic is interesting; there's been some falling out over something, obviously, and I am all excited to see how this story is going to unravel and who the suspects are, if it's a murder investigation! Also - is Rose going to get together with Scorpius??
Great start to this story!
Meera <3
WHAT
WHAT
WHYY
I DON'T HAVE WORDS!!
like. damn. i don’t even know whether it was adam or anna who sent that letter but apparently their father cursed his entire family, what an absolute psycho! i don’t know whether he also cursed his wife but i doubt it because she has been suspicious from the start and she's a far likelier accomplice than his (remaining?) children.
i feel like i still have so many unanswered questions, but it would seem that it really was elizabeth who murdered abel…but was it only for the money? ughhh the geronimos are definitely hard people to crack, it's like trying to figure out a five meter wide wall lol
seeing how rose seemingly got totally sucked into searching for the geronimos, i hope that the key and the evidence are actually worth something,,,it can't have all been in vain!!
and also there's scorpius who is sadly missing from this last chapter but i really really hope he's….okay….ish at least.
what an ending godd! there's some satisfaction knowing rose might get her hands on some incriminating evidence against elizabeth but just having them walk away free after everything…..! it makes sense considering who they are but ahhhhh i can hold out hope rose catches them!
kris / ss voyager
scorpius thinking that adam and anna might still be on abel’s, well, actually scorpius’s and rose’s side just because adam’s spell wasn’t great…is possibly far-fetched but i am keeping my fingers crossed that not everyone in the geronimo family is actually a psychopath.
their argument over his addiction is so…relatable and familiar and it kinda actually hurts to read and ugh. people so so often think addicts choose what they’re doing but that line of thinking is so wrong on so many levels but i know that that’s also something people who are on the other side have trouble wrapping their minds around it. it’s an awful situation to find yourself in and i empathise so so much with scorpius and even rose because i know that she’s actually coming from a place of love but in a way that’s just not great and then scorpius is also hurt and turns against her and so i just hope they manage to work through it together, and that scorpius recovers with help and support because ughhh it’s so hard and now, after all that had happened, it’s even harder.
scorpius being cursed with the same curse as rose makes sense and godd it’s a tricky curse and cain seems to have really fucking mastered it but….that anger that rose and scorpius both feel hopefully makes them successful in their quest….but. it’s also really doubtful and i am on the edge of my seat :EYES:
kris / ss voyager
oh wow omg okay wow wow wow so many things happened
first of all, the way that scorpius and rose feel around each other and actually obviously care for each other even though they desperately try to hide it behind facades of indifference and being/acting cool is just,,,nice to read. like, they’re not in a great situation right now, with scorpius incapacitated and rose having to restrain herself for his sake, but i just appreciate how deeply human they both are and how you write them!
but cain really just went on full biblical and gave rose something like the mark of cain? kinda? not exactly the same as what’s supposedly in the bible, but the mark he left on her skin and the way it burned her back when she only just said fuck you to cain has me eyeing that special brand of magic with deep interest :EYES:
i still can’t believe he killed his own son, or well, first faked his death and then pretended to be his own brother (who…what happened to victor…? was he actually dead instead of cain :o ) and then killed his son and i can’t figure out what his motives were but then his entire family is now with him and apparently supports him and i am just completely shook
ughhhh can’t wait to see what happens next :EYES: i doubt rose will just let this be!
kris / ss voyager
i feel like my mind is going to explode with everyone basically being a suspect and not knowing what the fuck is happening but i mean that in the best possible way because i love these types of mysteries where i’m just going along for the ride and it’s a super wild ride and nobody is safe and no one knows what’s going on until the very end and possibly not even then hah
i love that hermione is taking action instead of being kinda passive and mostly just not doing anything with regards to what rose had told her before, but now she’s actually doing something *together* with rose and it’s a nice change and hopefully their relationship is a lil less strained for the time being, but being who they are and their particular brand of dysfunction i don’t doubt it won’t last super long but it’s good while it does!
and poor scorpius goddd, i wanna give him a hug, honestly. i feel like this whole ordeal seemingly is taking its toll the worst on scorpius but i feel like that might be because we don’t really see things from the geronimo’s pov so. but he lost a friend (sortof at least?) and he’s tired and he wants a drink and rose is there and rose is bad for him and like, in this chapter you did a great job of just writing him in this tired of everything way which i feel is very fitting for where the story is at currently.
and then the ending had me WTFFFF the geronimo dad???? what how whyyyy what is happening and like i said my mind feels blown but also super fucking intrigued and i wanna know more so i shall be back soon!!
:EYES:
:EYES:
kris / ss voyager
i have this very vivid image of elizabeth geronimo clutching that rosary as if it were something that could shield her from…whatever she thinks she needs shielding from but i also feel like it’s all a front, like one of those italian women who professionally wail at funerals - not sure if you’d heard of that thing but i’m familiar with something similar in my mother’s country lol so that’s why her at the start of this chapter just really reminded me of those…not necessarily fake but not truly genuine scenes. which i think really describes her character well!
i also really feel for anna - we don’t really get much from or about her since she’s not as central of a character like some of the others, but the way she sounds so tired and drained and just sad only reminds me how much she’s lost (and all the geronimos actually!) fairly recently. it’s so easy to get wrapped up in the investigation, but i have a feeling none of them properly mourned and probably won’t be able to until the mystery is resolved. like…they can’t rest until they *know* which is so valid. but anna’s reaction and how she talked to her mother served as a good reminder of all that pain, love that you’ve written it in that way, it’s very much show and not just telling us someone is sad…you’re an amazing writer.
and elizabeth clutching to that last little bit of power, not immediately telling them what they wanted to know, keeping them in suspense deliberately, goddd…what a woman!
but wow adam! he got really threaten-y didn’t he…i’m glad he didn’t use an unforgivable curse on his mother but the fact that he did use one before has me all :EYES: at that.
and rose swooping in at the last minute with hermione and xavier to arrest adam…ugh i need to know more!
kris / ss voyager
taggg
i am, of course, CURIOUS :EYES: :EYES: at what exactly rose's brilliant mind connected with the dots i'm not seeing and what it all has to do with xavier - is it abel's mother doing something with him? paying him off? for what? and what the hell does this bill that didn't pass had to do with anything? obviously, it must've been important in some way except being progressive since abel wanted it to pass and talked to hermione about it :EYES:
the mystery thickens! no wait. the plot thickens! oops
i loved the way this chapter revolves around hermione and rose and their relationship as much as it revolves around the mystery of what the fuck happened with abel and generally the geronimo family. like, they're obviously both a little toxic on their own, but mixed together they're uhhh vitriolic towards each other even when they rationally realise they could just....not be....it seems like it's almost impossible for them to do so even if we know they actually love each other despite everything. i just really enjoy the fact that you managed to weave in such a complicated and layered familial relationship between these two in a story that's already super intriguing with just the abel-dying plot :P
i am looking forward to reading the next chapter and seeing how all the others, scorpius especially react to everything..............if rose ever tells them lololo
kris
He could stop drinking. She could stop hiding from everything. But she'd never make it through that, the journey of his sobriety. He'd never make it through, the impenetrable layers of her psyche. - this is so gorgeously written! in general i love how you manage to get under characters' skins so so so well and write about their mental state/inner thought process in a way that ties it in with what's happening both right now and what happened in the past, it's truly amazing!
and damnnn rose. i have no idea whether she slept with him because she wanted to take the evidence but i would not be surprised at all. i think it's super interesting how you sort of blended two typical noir characters in her - the detective and the femme fatale, it works in a way that makes rose so incredibly compelling and i love reading it.
i do feel sorry for scorpius though, he's just....he seems like he's such a goner for her even though he knows they wouldn't work and he's been burned before and he knows her well. and yet. i can't blame him, it's difficult and sometimes impossible to, yk, think with your head and not your heart.
nora cracks me up in this chapter
and i am very very :EYES: at what rose already discovered or what they'll all discover together. i somehow doubt rose would take the evidence and protect her mother? but maybe? idk i just know they don't have a good relationship (which is understandable considering the circumstances) but then again she was pretty against uncovering her in the previous chapter so maybe? she's an enigma as always
i love this
kris
i am flailing
adam dealing drugs to hermione and abel blackmailing her over it is just a perfect culmination of what we've seen from her character in the earlier chapters. i'd love to know how you got this headcanon for her (in this particular story)? it's super interesting and original, and i'm always curious
but then elizabeth and abel and him knowing his father wasn't his biological father, it's all sorts of twisted :EYES:
i love how no one trusts anyone anymore. like, literally, they're all just out for themselves it seems, except maybe scorpius who might just be doing a job abel left him??? idk idk but yes, everyone is super untrustworthy and unreliable and i'm enjoying that immensely
the ending had me grinning like a fool because rose and scorpius are so so obviously bad for each other, and it's not a great time, and they're destructive in different ways but it's like them getting together was inevitable, and all those previous glances and things just lead up to this which is amazing.
i especially loved this line: Rose imagined that, to Scorpius, she currently resembled the sensual curve of a Firewhisky bottle. - so clever and funny and at the same time hottt
kris
