Eep, yeah, this is darker.

 

I see you’ve tagged it with suicide, though the text of the story is a bit vague. The man says he does not know when he will die, which suggests that he does not have a plan to kill himself. But he also seems to accept death as an inevitability, and seemingly soon. He is preparing for death, which in his case may not be a far cry from making it happen.

 

There’s also a kindness to him. He doesn’t want to cause people pain. I want him to know that his existence brings joy, not pain to others. I want you to never feel like him.

... That might be insufficient as a review. Fine. You captured the terribly pragmatic side of death really well here - as with Music, it's an aspect that often doesn't get a lot of attention, but is nearly always present and important. This is wonderful.

tbh, that alone is what makes writing and posting these all worth it. Being able to show emotions, feelings, thoughts and moods is what makes characters feel truly human and real in my eyes, and it's amazing to hear that I've been able to accomplish that.
