Hey Jill,
Here for our swap!
It's been so much fun watching the 100 so I can truly lose myself in your fics properly! I thought this was so beautiful done, there are so many emotions but you play them perfectly. I love the bond between the characters that you have created, the dialogue in the first section between Emma and Bellamy was really good. You could just feel the history and tension there. I think what stood out to me most in the first section here was the characterisation of Murphy! It was so spot on, I thought it was pretty much flawless with the dialogue back and forth. I really enjoyed that section between them. I did wonder if Emori exist in your version of events so interesting to know that she does.
Damn, you've really written the tension well when they're playing 'never have I ever'. There was a lot of underlying stuff going on there, I thought it was really excellent to giving more back story to the current story. It's beds Emma into the universe well to know what she was doing at certain points and fleshes her character out. I know you said this story was dark but I'm really enjoying the way you are playing out all the emotions.
I think her relationship with Bellamy seems a little complex but they obviously care about each other a lot. I thought the panic attack scene was really well done. It was moving without being over dramatic which I thought was a good balance to have. I think Murphy got to prove that he isn't all bad and any chance for Murphy to show himself as a little bit good is more than ok with me.
'The ghosts of their best friends dancing in the shadows, dragging the three of them further into darkness. Making it impossible to let go.' I loved this line. it really stood out to me. It seemed to really just capture that moment you were showing in such a poetic but dark way.
my gosh, Jill. The emotions in that last scene with Murphy. There was so much going on, Emma's thought process was so well played. The feelings of regret and guilt were so tangible. I love the 'you called me by my name' thing like I just do. The interaction was Murphy was brilliant, I loved that he was there for her. They obviously still care for each other a lot which is so clear. Emma is a mess but she makes such a vivid and rich OC. Again, flawless characterisation for Murphy. I can tell that he is a favourite of yours because you write them with a lot of care.
I thought this was a brilliant piece!

Author's Response:abbi! oh my god, i love that not only you love the 100, but you've found it in your heart to love murphy and emma like i do
bellamy and emma's relationship is so complicated in every version i write, so i'm glad that you were able to feel the history and the tension. there's always a little bit of underlying tension with them, but also understanding as they're working their way towards friendship after they've been through so much together. that first conversation was really important for me to get right - bellamy suffered a major loss with clarke, and emma wants to be there, but trying to navigate these new waters is really challenging for them
she does exist, at least in the canon versions! it's not that i don't like her, i just prefer emma :P
ah, thank you! i feel like i struggled a bit writing that scene. for some reason, it's always hard for me to get cast/ensemble scenes right and make sure no one gets left behind in dialogue so i'm glad you thought it added to the story. i thought it was important to show them relaxing and trying to have fun, even as they're adjusting to their new normal of life on the ring
i'm so glad you thought the panic attack wasn't overdramatic; it was a scene i was nervous about getting right and didn't really think i could do it justice. and i'm absolutely with you on the murphy front; gotta show his good side every now and then ;)
ahhh thank you thank you! honestly i can't tell you how much the last paragraph means to me because again, writing this last scene was such a struggle to get just right. including murphy and their whole interaction in that scene, as well as emma's reaction to when she realized what she was doing. and you're right, emma is a mess, but it's okay because she's murphy's mess ;) maybe not specifically here, but you know. she will be, and that's all that matters
thank you thank you for this review! i'm so so glad you enjoyed it ♥
