Reviews For In the End

Hi, Juls! I'm back again (not sure if we are still swapping, but I was curious to learn more about your AU, so I'm here anyway :P)

One thing I don't think I mentioned in my last review, I really like that Dumbledore chose Remus as his successor. I don't think there was a proper leader of the Order in canon and I feel like it would have made sense that there was. And I love the idea of Remus being that person, he is suited for it, being so composed and patient (maybe I'm once again biased, I love my werewolf, I'm sure you knew that already...)

I also really, really love the fact that someone knew about Severus' true allegiances. I'm not Severus' biggest fan, but I find so unfair and saddening that he went through all that hardship, alone, with everyone believing him evil. It's nice to know that someone knew and respected him.

The guilt he feels for all those who died and he couldn't help/had a hand into their deaths to not blow his cover... it's so terribly heartbreaking, once again. And of course Harry doesn't want to listen to any of it. Harry's moral code has always been black or white, no grey in between, right? I'm glad he somehow understood in the end.

Draco's story is so heartbreaking, too! I can't believe Lucius killed Narcissa... (I can totally believe Voldemort ordering that, even if it's horrifying). Harry and Draco's fight (and Snape telling Remus to just let them at it) was amusing, in a way. I do wonder if they'll ever get to the point of... tolerating each other? I guess being friends would be way too much... I loved how Harry was like "maybe we can duel some more later". Ah, teenagers. :P

I really like what you've been doing with this alternative reality you crafted here. It's quite different, but in a very consistent way, and I love the way you explore each character's psychology. Oh, and there are a couple of passages that made me think about my own writing, which was so cool! One was when Snape talked about his place in hell. I have a one shot (Dear Emmeline) where Snape wonders exactly about that, if he's destined to hell or if there's still hope for his soul. The other is when he listed all the people he killed, and I had Peter doing something similar at some point in Jimmy (spoiler? Uhm, sorry...) and it was interesting to me how different your Severus was from my Peter because he was taking full responsibility for it, even when he was just there... but I'll shut up now...

Lovely one-shot, dear! See you soon!

Hi juls, I'm here for the House Cup Finale!
Woah, my mind is REELING right now! My brain kept being like WAIT WHAT as I kept reading - I started out confused before I just let myself enjoy it (I didn't realise it was an AU immediately!). The dynamic between Harry and Snape was great. Harry seemed a little too angry at points but if I'm honest I don't blame him after everything he's had to witness and then having Snape AND Draco in Grimmauld Place.

It was great to see Remus too! The way he wanted to break up Harry and Draco fighting but Snape was just like "nah, let them carry on" had me rolling! Lupin, ever the rational one. And Harry and Draco fighting was fabulous!
I enjoyed the use of the Pensieve to bring across certain points, like Harry learning about Snape's true loyalty. If I could own a magical object it would be one of those!

YOU KILLED OFF NARCISSA??! Ouch! And making LUCIUS of all people do it, double ouch!! It does make you feel sorry for Draco though and humanizes him even more and I found myself defending him in the face of Harry's wrath.

So is this set before/during Deathly Hallows? Either way, it certainly changes a number of paths!
Love, Kate x
