Hi Juls,

Back again with a review for the Slytherin House EvS Review Tag, Team Emerald.

I see that you have quite a number of these little one-shots, written in 2006, before the publication of Deathly Hallows, all depicting various moments and aspects of your 2006 vision of how the end of Harry's story turned out.

I am impressed by the imagination, the complexity, and the details in this collection of linked stories.

The writing style is quite polished, not at all awkward or amateurish, and you have captured the voices of the canon characters well.  Their dialogue sounds just as it should.  They are each obviously working through a jumble of many often-contradictory emotions, exactly as people in their situations would feel.  As a result, reading the story is a welcome challenge of understanding, just as a reader would wish.

Although this story is short, it has a story arc.  Things happen and change.  The characters grow and reveal new aspects of themselves.  And the final lines tie it up neatly.  Remus is changed for the better by his interaction with Severus.

This story is well crafted, as are the others in this collection.  I'm glad you decided to post them here.  Even though they are not in accord with canon as we know it now, they certainly deserve to be read and appreciated.  Good job.

Vicki

Hello, Juls, darling! Here for our swap (much later than I hoped...)

This was... not what I was expecting? Although I'm not sure what I was expecting... it was kind of strange to settle into this AU of yours, but that's okay, I enjoyed it! ;)

The relationship between these two characters that you create is so interesting. They collaborate and take care of each other because they have to, but at the same time there is so much resentment and (maybe?) mistrust between them... it's interesting that Remus knows about the deal between Snape and Dumbledore and still blames Snape for his death. They both have such a deep bond to Dumbledore, which is also so interesting. They are so different but so similar at the same time.

The backstory of Severus' mother was so interesting, too. I guess I like the idea that there were other motives to Severus' decisions than simply Lily Evans. And related to that... he was in a relationship with Narcissa? Sorry, what?! I was totally not expecting that either.

Ah, Remus... Remus, sweety, why do you have to be so bloody stubborn all the time? I mean, I understand your worries, but Dora loves you, and you love her, and you are awesome and deserve to be happy! I'm so glad he did see reason at the end!

This was a really nice, interesting one-shot! I feel like I would've appreciated it more if I'd been more familiar with the premises (so I guess I'll need to read more in this universe) but I did enjoy it quite a lot nonetheless! :)

Thank you for swapping! I'll be back soon!

Lots of love and snowball hug,

Chiara
