Hello I am here to drop a review on this bomb ass story. Right off the bat the thing that immediately sends me is:

Then Sirius slowly says, “What the fuck,” and the entire class loses their minds

Tag rugby sounds absolutely hellish what even IS that is that even legal? But anyways I love your tone of voice throughout the story and how much each characters personality shined through with only a couple of words or actions im LITERALLY so alive right now there is so much dopamine in my brain I'm like a golden retriever.

Girl I am literally in tears the conversation between James and Lily had me going but then Snape with the baby strapped to his chest had me put my phone down I was shaking too much this is so good. I love everything about this, the chemistry between James and Lily is so good too and she's clearly charmed by him.

When James jumped in on Sirius's defence "it's because he's friends with me and I'm Asian" I snorted so hard. This was so good literally soooooo good. I absolutely cannot stop smiling or gushing. I loved everything about this let me just list it again: your tone of voice, your style of writing, the characterization , the banter. Ugh. So good. chefs chef. I suddenly need more of the gang in high school it's great and the shenanigans they'd get up to. Please. I'm begging you.

I have to admit, I have read more than my fair share of these types of stories over the years. When I was a preteen and young teenager they were all the rage on fanfiction dot net for a variety of fandoms, so once I read Sirius’s reaction about it seeming like a bad Wattpad novel was perfect. Yes, Sirius, yes it does. But between that old trope and Marauders, you can see why I felt like I HAD to read this. It checked so many of my nostalgic (and current!) boxes that I immediately clicked to read it.

“We don’t need any Snape spawn defiling this good earth” – yes, Sirius. I’m here for a snarky, outspoken Sirius. Him and James together are perfect, both hilarious and I could definitely picture them saying and acting like this. So, while a part of me felt bad for Sirius being paired up with Snape, I couldn’t help but look forward to the interactions between them. I was glad to see they lived up to my expectations, full of insults and quips aimed at each other.

And, of course, James and Lily were adorable. For all the class clown and tough guy persona he put on, seeing him when it was just the two of them talking about their daughter (I agree with him – it sounded absolutely adorable) showed the softer side to him. As much as he didn’t want to admit it to himself, the fact that he had fun despite the crying and contributing to the global waste crisis (lol-but-not-really) showed the side of him I love to see in fics.

In case you couldn’t tell, I really enjoyed this Plums. :)

Plums!  It's taken me far too long (I'm so sorry) but here with the first of your prize reviews from winning mine and Abbi's challenge <3

I basically just want to camp on your page and read absolutely everything you've written, but one thing that always amazes me is the way you can transition so smoothly between different styles and tones of story, from dark, beautifully descriptive stories to lighter, hilarious, modern AUs like this one.  You write everything so flawlessly and this was no exception - I had a smile on my face all the way through this story and it was so much fun to read!

The opening of this story was suitably dramatic.  Honestly, I'm not sure what I would have done if I'd been presented with a baby (albeit a plastic one) at that age and told to take care of it for a week with a partner.  The class's reactions to it were all so funny and James's internal monologue was brilliant at that point, with the complete bewilderment about what to do with it.

Can I just say that I love the fact you've made Hogwarts into a state comprehensive?  I feel like it would be really easy to make it into a private school but it's a refreshing and down-to-earth change to have it set in a normal school - much easier for me to relate to, especially with the sorts of lessons they're doing and expectations placed on them.

I think that my favourite thing about this story - of the many, honestly - was the dialogue.  You managed to craft such an individual voice for each character but not only did they fit what we know of the characters from canon, but the language and everything just flows so naturally.  It was really easy to picture those sorts of conversations and confrontations happening at my school in the middle of class, and it really made this story more believable while simultaneously being hilarious.

Your characterisation was so spot on here, too - I can so easily imagine James catching himself, completely unlike most boys his age, picturing himself having actual children with Lily and using the experiment as a forerunner to that of sorts, rather than hating the way most of the others in the class do.  I really loved the moments between James and Lily, too - the way that one week didn't bring them together automatically but that you can see a closeness beginning here, and that the assignment acted as a catalyst for them to get to know each other.  I love the fact that James was so vehement about not planning out a future for their daughter (I'm so glad Lily's name choice won out over d'Artagnan, the poor child) and just generally having his head screwed on pretty well.

Sirius and Snape being assigned to look after the baby together is brilliant.  Awful for both of them, but comedy gold.  Trying to imagine the two of them raising a child together is kind of terrifying.  I mean, they're all quite young to be raising children but I'm surprised that Snape and Sirius even got through it without throwing the baby at each other or something similar to that.  All things considered, the two of them actually behaved remarkably well for them - I mean, the baby survived, at least :P

Mrs Polanski was brilliant - she brought to mind so many teachers I've had through the years dealing with loud-mouthed teenagers, and especially the way she answers back to the boys who think they're being really clever in their remarks - like she's not heard it all a thousand times before.  I mean, they're still loveable because it's James and Sirius, but I really liked her character as the authority figure - she definitely had some of McGonagall's no-nonsense air about her and they clearly needed that!

The messages (and phone call) between Lily and James were really cute, and even though the focus of this story wasn't really the romance between them, I still loved reading that aspect and the last line was adorable... if you're ever inspired to do a sequel when they're bringing Harry home from the hospital and introducing him to Sirius and the others for the first time, I'd definitely be here for that!

Sian :)
