Werewolves! In! Spaaaaace!
Everything about this universe is so creative - I love the worldbuilding you've pulled off and the alternatives to canon that you've come up with. (Like the machine used to repair bones! Thought that was very clever.) Making lycanthropy a species-specific affliction was I think very clever, because honestly it would stretch believability to have it be an infection that affects every species of alien in the galaxy in exactly the same way.
But then on that note - all of this reads so real and so true to these characters, even as you constantly drop reminders that instead of the wizarding boys we know and love, these are Aliens! In! Space!. Like, I thought the way the other three confronted Remus (very excited, thinking about how they can help) and the way Remus reacted to their offers of help (anger, thinking about the worst things that could happen) felt like the way that it could've gone down in canon.
It's interesting in this universe, because none of them (including Remus, as I understand it?) transform, so it will literally just be a bunch of lads duking it out - but that makes it much less complicated for them, haha! No month-long mandrake leaf situations to figure out. But I definitely think it works, and is very weirdly adorable.
Oh, and shoutout to James's antlers. Iconic.

Emma!! Hi! I can't believe that I missed this one! How did I not see that there was a fourth part of space opera? I am so disappointed in myself!
Anyway, this was a lovely study of Remus and his space opera version of lycanthropy! As usual, I love all the alien details you've put into this! the machines can reknit bones. You did a great job of demonstrating the same kind of discrimination that Remus faced in the books here in this short little piece. There was some good information about the Welbers (more alien facts!) and some great inner monologue from Remus about his friends and feelings. I think you did a great job with showing Remus' fear in this situation.
Alternatively, I love your portrayal of James, Sirius, and Peter in this take of them finding out about Remus' lycanthropy. We've gotten some minor details about this in the books, but this is a great take on a canon moment in your amazing au world! I love that they're like starting a fight club between themselves so Remus doesn't hurt himself. True friendship right there! FIRST RULE OF FIGHT CLUB DONT TALK ABOUT FIGHT CLUB! Ugh, this was great!
As always, great work, looking forward to all further installments of this wonderful and amazing series!!

Emma, I think you've found your calling: sci-fi authoress. Seriously, I love your style of words like when you list his options (I'm shocked no one actually did throw up in this hapter.) He's so unsure of himself yet so sweet and worried about the others. He's still so much the Remus we love only with poisonous fangs.
Then his friends think they have to all figured out. Evidently, no matter what species, 12 and 13 year old boys have no common sense and I see potential disaster written all over it. Maybe they'll be as lucky as their human counterparts despite the risks they took. And talk about risk: The door to his transformation chamber doesn't have a lock on the outside because "no one ever goes in there." I take it back. Evidently no one, reguardless of age, on this planet has common sense because a school full of curious kids and a door. . .
Nice job, Emma. I look forward to hearing more stories about this hodgepodge alien group.
