Heya Jo! :)

This is a wonderful companion piece to The Obliviator, and wraps up that storyline quite nicely. George has clearly bonded with Danielle significantly, so it’s almost like losing his grandmother to a disease like Alzheimer’s because she will no longer remember him, but he’ll remember her forever, and that’s the saddest part of this piece. Angelina and George work so well together, and I love their nonverbal cues they have for each other -- it speaks to the depth of their love for each other and how well they understand each other too, that George needs to be able to give Danielle a proper goodbye, and that Angelina still has to do her job as an Obliviator one final time for Danielle. I absolutely love your original character in Danielle Templeton! She’s witty, intelligent, and seems like she’d be a cool grandmother who always has tea and snacks, but will also willingly go on a vacation somewhere out of the blue with you just because. While it’s a tearful ending, it’s resolution, and I think you did a great job here of doing a lot of showing rather than telling when it came to emotions and setting descriptions. Overall, great job!

Hi Jo!

I'm so happy to be here to review this story for you! I'm thrilled that it won SotM! It deserves it so much, and I really hope more people find it because of that recognition.

So, let's start with compliments on your characterization: Your George and Angelina are beautiful, and I love them so much! They're one of my favorite canon couples as is, but you add even more depth to them and show such a lovely relationship. George's canon personality shines through his dialogue and builds on the plot you've created.

And the plot makes so much sense! It's not something I'd ever thought about, but it's so logical that Muggles living near young magical children would sometimes see things they'd need to forget. It's such an original concept, but one that I bought as perfectly in line with the canon books.

Danielle is perfect. You've written such a believable, sweet, kind woman, and she's fantastic. She's such a wonderful OC. She's got depth and dreams, and your story gives her the chance to really blossom. I love that. Her friendship with George is so genuine and effortless, and I love that they connect on so many levels. It's truly beautiful.

I have no CC for this story. It's just perfect. I hope everyone gets the chance to read it and wax poetic about its many, many areas of success. Fantastic job!

Best,
Emily

Hey Jo,

This review is for the Black v. Yellow review battle, Team Black.

I saw that this story had been nominated for Hufflepuff's Story of the Month, so I thought I'd check it out. It's also been some time since I read something of yours, so I thought I'd take this chance to check out one of your stories again. And I'm glad I did because wow.

This is really good and very different from anything else I've read on the archive. I really like the unlikely friendship between Danielle and George, and Danielle was just so adorable in this. I'm really curious about how they became friends though. I mean I assume they met each other because Danielle is the Potter family's neighbour, but how exactly did these two bond/get to know each other. I'd be so interested in finding more about that. And actually just more about Danielle as a character. She seems really interesting to me.

I also like how entusiastic Danielle was about travelling. You can tell it's her dream, and I think it's great to see a story that really show that you're never to old to go for your dreams. That's a really good message too so I really liked that. I also liked the goodbye scene. The story really showed how difficult goodbyes are, but that sometimes we need to put other's need before our own and do what's best for them. And I just think you did a great job of describing George's feelings about having to say goodbye to Danielle. You could tell it was painful for him, but that he knew he had to do it for her sake. So yeah, great job!

And overall, this was a really sweet story. I liked the way you wrote it and I can definitely understand why it got nominated for the monthly awards. It's so unique. I've never seen a story like this, and I don't even know how to explain it, but it's like a warm story, despite it being kind of sad. That's a terrible description, I'm sorry, but like... you feel sad for George because he lost his friend, but then you also feel really excited and hopeful for Danielle, so it is a story that really brings out a lot of different emotions in you. And again, I just like that you really show that you're never to late to go for your dreams. I keep telling my mother that all the time, but she never listens to me :P Anyway, I'm really impressed. This is amazing. Great job!

Jo!!!

Hello, my love! I thought I'd stop by, since this was nominated for Hufflepuff SotM... ;)

Aww... this was so adorable! Danielle is so lovely, and while it's sad that she had to be obliviated and that she had to leave the life she had always known (and of course, it's so sad for George having to say goodbye... goodbyes are always so hard...) it's so wonderful how she's getting the chance to make her wish come true and travel the world. I love the message you are giving here, that it's never too late to follow one's dreams. There is so much hope and sweetness in this piece and I love it so much!

I'm not sure what else to add, I'm just very glad that I stopped by because this just left me so warm and happy (even if there is also a little bit of sadness and melancholy in it, but mostly, it made me smile). Thank you for writing and sharing this lovely piece! You are wonderful! <3 <3 <3

Huge snowball hug, my love!

Hi Jo!

I'm here for the Hufflepuff Review Swap.

First off is I wanna mention how adoribly cute this story is! Like I honestly loved it so much!

I love how you wrote George and Angelina's relationship, they defintily seem really good together! I was really concerned when reading the summary for this story, that it was going to be about Fred, or that it was going to be a lot darker than what it actually was, and it was a nice surprise to see the overall tone wasn't as dark.

Even though it was sad for George to have to say goodbye to Danielle, I'm glad that she get's to go off to travel the world. When first reading this, at first I thought that Danielle was a neighboring child to the Potters, which I was so afraid that a child would have had their memories modified so much to the point of damaging them. But I loved how you characterized her, and I think everyone could do with a sweet friend like Danielle.

I also want to mention that I loved how you have the Potters living in Grimmauld Place. I don't see that as often as most times people have them in Godric's Hollow (guilty). I'm interested in how they have fixed the place up over the years. One thing I wondered is if they took off the enchantments hiding Grimmauld place from muggle view. As it seemed that Danielle knew the Potters, or if it was just from George visiting her with the kids which is how she knows them. I'd defintely be interested to see more about how George and Danielle got to know each other.

But overall like I said I really enjoyed this story! I loved how you portrayed the characters and the overall tone of the story.

I can't wait to read more of your stories over the next couple weeks!

I hope you have a great week,

Hugs and Hufflepuffs

- Kyle
