Hiya! I’m here to spread some holiday cheer! I hope you had a great holiday season <3
Oh good gooood what a start. What a start. This is obv Remus and Tonks and theyre already married then so what is this, a belated wedidng ring? Engagement ring? I’m intrigued. Also what do you mean she lost her job what on earth this is cruel
Yaaay she’s pregnant! Aaand of course he slips and falls but I hope hes okay also if he teahces at hogwarts and he’s hired then why can’t she work at hogwarts too?
Oooh that summary of Remus is an excellent one, he’s sees it as a hindrance, and is blind to see all the lives he touches. Very true
I’m interested to see how this pans out, and if Dumbledore’s conviction turns out to be true. I think it will be but let us hope
Yes continue to be creepy, like, that surely doesn’t press more weight upon Lupin’s shoulders if he has to decide within five hours
WHAT NO WHAT WHY NO NO
AND MCGONAGALL WHY GOOD GOD MY HEART
JAMES AND SIRIUS WHAT ON EARTH IS HAPPENING
NO NO NO NO
THIS IS CRUEL LIKE WHAT ON EARTH THIS GOT SO DARK LIKE WHAT AND THEN THE IMPLICATIONS AND THIS IS JUST .. LIKE I MEAN ITS WAR I KNOW IT HAPPENS BUT WHAT D: IM SO GLAD HE WANTS BACK TO HOW IT WAS AND THAT HE DOESNT WANT TO BE A PART OF THIS OH MY LORDDD
Who’s the wizard
OOOH ITS HARRY! Ooh interesting that Harry got kids before Remus did - are the names the same, though?
And yay! He’s named after important people too. Love it. Very nice ending, also Harry is easily talked into another oh my god. Anyway, brilliant story! And glad to see that even if the other ending had happened, that they’d also end up remotedly happy :3
Hi! I'm here for your Christmas wishlist of a review!
Firstly, I can't resist a bit of Remus Lupin, and secondly, it's a Christmas story. Double whammy there! Oh my word, I loved everything about this. I loved how it took on the idea of Dickens' A Christmas Carol and you absolutely picked the right character to focus on here as he's always felt the world would have been better without him in it. I was really shocked to see James and Sirius there, but then you're explanation about there being no werewolf incident to save Severus from and therefore they were all seduced by the dark arts was perfect. Heartbreaking, but still a fantastic way to show Remus just how important his bite was to those around him.
To hear them talk about Lily was awful, it really was a shock. And then Remus finding out he'd killed Dumbledore - my poor heart! The two endings were amazing and I loved that there was two to choose from in a way. The note from Albus was perfect, I think Remus really deserves a break sometimes - it was a rather nice thing to do! Also, can I just note that James and Sirius transforming and causing mischief in whatever afterlife they've found themselves in, cracked me up!
The whole thing was heartbreaking to read, beautifully written and I loved every moment.
Merry Christmas! - Tasha x
Hi, Juls! I thought I'd check out one more story by you for the review tag, while I was at it... :P
I've been curious about this one for a while (you probably know that Remus is my absolute favourite...) and so here I am... :)
I have a question... are the two alternative endings both happening with Remus choosing to be bitten? Or is the second one Remus choosing not to be bitten but still remembering his past and somehow fixing things? Because that would surely be interesting...
I will confess that I find it hard to believe James, Sirius and Remus joining the Death Eaters, even with a Remus who didn't suffer as much as he did. I do believe that lycanthropy influenced him a lot, giving him a deeper sensibility and empathy, but I also think that he had a natural disposition to gentleness that would be there in any case. Maybe less accentuated, but still there. Also, James' sense of justice and Sirius' will to be better than what his family wanted to make him would still be there, too. But I can get past it and accept your version of events, just because it's so fascinating and I love the idea that Remus could see the good in his life.
As always, your writing is lovely! You are so good at picturing every scene, I can visualize everything so neatly and I love it! I think you also did a wonderful job at showing Remus' confusion at everything happening around him. And it was sort of funny imagining how his shocked behaviour and his denial would look for the people around him who considered all that their reality... I mean, the whole situation was horrifying, but I guess I appreciated the irony of it all.
And the little scene in the afterlife, and Lily laughing at the fact that James and Sirius would never grow up... because they obviously wouldn't... :P
I think I love my Remus even more. I love that he chose the suffering he'd endured his whole life (and the torture Voldemort was subjecting him to, and the grief for the friends he lost) over the evil but successful life offered to him as the alternative. I mean, I would have despised him if he'd made the opposite choice, it wasn't even a choice at all... I'm still proud of my child!
I think once again this review makes no sense... but I loved that this story gave me so much to think about.
Lots of love, dear.

Juls,
You said this one was your favorite so I thought I'd read it first.
What an original idea! I love the concept and Remus is the perfect character to have this experience. He reminds me so much of George Bailey, surrounded by so much love and kindness but allowing his own insecurities to almost ruin it.
I predicted that the Marauders would be very different but I never considered that they would join Voldemort, but in some ways it makes sense. James and Sirius, despite their Gryffindor status, still thrived on power and attention at Hogwarts. Remus was always the instrument of reason of the four. It also makes complete sense that his affliction would be the vehicle that allowed their compassion to grow.
I like the alternate ending (but I'm a totaly Severus fan, so I'm a bit biased) but it would require bit of explanation to explain that they are now close friends.
I have one suggestion and one question. First, I would love to see this become a short story. It has some much potential and story line to go in depth. And the question: Are Merlin and Gandalf twins because they look a lot a like?
Author's Response:Awww, thanks for stopping by and reading the story.
This was written before Deathly Hallows came out, so it makes it just a wee bit AU. (Okay, a lot AU!) So that's why Severus is still alive, and friends with Remus afterwards. It (to me, cause I was the staunchest of Snape fans/defenders in my group of friends) made since that once it was revealed that Snape had been working for the Order and protecting Harry this whole time, they would have become (if not best buds) friends. Of all of the Marauders, Remus (again, to me) was the most accepting of others and of change because of what he'd had to go through as a werewolf in Magical Britain. The Alternate ending was written purely for my own satisfaction (because of my undying love and trust of Snape.) The original ending was written for everyone else, to make the story more beleivable (and accepted)
Anddd - Merlin being played by Gandalf was because Gandalf is the coolest wizard in the world.
Thanks so much for reading and reviewing my story. It brought a HUGE smile to my face.
