Reviews For Fantastic good-night stories

Last one! This whole piece has been so fun, it’s a little sad to be on the last chapter. I wonder if you have plans to write more.

There were a couple little errors, like I think you meant to write “hollow” instead of “hallow,” and the tense got mixed up a bit with “Kacie immediately fall in love,” and you said she brought her “bad” instead of her “bed.” I think that’s enough nitpicking so I won’t mention others if I see them *couch*

Aw, that was super sweet! I liked the sense of friendship between the tree’s inhabitants, and the part about Farin was super cute! She was so sweet and hardworking, it make me a little sad that while she was so happy to have company, none of them knew she was there.

Lovely job on all of these!

Oh, leprechauns and pixies! It’s nice to see creatures that I know more about than some of the others.

A really enjoyed the alliteration in this with Landon the lazy leprechaun and patrick the pixie XD

There is such a hilariously intense sense of drama in this story, over little pranks and a slap  it makes it all feel really heightened and fun.

Lol and then it gets even better, with Patrick’s revenge plan involving balloons, and Landon completely not caring/noticing! XD

I hope those cactus leaves weren’t dangerous!

This was super fun an hilarious - I think my favorite yet!

Hello, I’m back to check out the last couple of your cute little stories!

One thing that’s charming about this story is how you assume the audience knows what all these creatures are. I may have had to google hodag, but the way you wrote it made it feel like a matter of fact thing for a magical child’s story. I also like how you don’t limit the animals to realistic portrayals. Not only can they walk and talk, but they can live on an island instead of their natural habitat if they like, which was yet another way this felt like a conventional kids story.

Aww this was really cute. For a minute there I thought this might be like “If You Give a Moose a Muffin” but I’m glad the hodags were able to have a nice friendly relationship with their strange new hippogriff friend =)

Hehe, once again you delightfully combine totally unexpected sets of animals! I feel like in normal children’s literature that is expected and it gets boring after a while to talk about a rabbit, horse, and bear or whatever, but when you switch to magical creatures it feels so much more fresh!

I have to admit in this case that I don’t totally remember what a kelpie actually is, but between the picture and your parenthetical, I feel like it’s not something capable of climbing, which seems to make the little plot about running even more delightful.

Hehe, and there is no room for the billywig, which could fly and is also tiny XD

This whole story is full of little delights, and I am really happy to have given it a shot. I wonder if the Scamanders will ever make an appearance, of if they’re just the implied narrators.

Surprise it’s me again. You’re not surprised, are you?

Lol just as I had a funny little picture in my mind of an acromantula reading books in a page, you made it better by plopping him in an armchair XD

I was a little confused by the ghouls and the doxies, and what they were doing there. By the end it became clear that they were all living in the cave and reading there, but that was a little clear when the others were first mentioned, especially when in the first sentence the cave is implied to belong to the acromantula. I think that once I understood that, the title of the chapter became even more amusing, picturing the ghouls and doxies as part of the acromantula’s empire.

Though that was confusing for a bit, it was still very cute overall!

Seriously, can someone make this into a real children’s book with complete illustrations? It sounds like a must-have.

Hello again!

Once again, we’re introduced to two new characters, once again funny little creatures with funny little names. I really enjoy how even though lots of things change from chapter to chapter, there are just enough similarities to make them feel cohesive =)

Lol, a fire crab and a pair of bowtruckles is a very unexpected trio, but that just makes it all the cuter! XD

I thought it was extra cute that you chose bowtruckles to be the ones in search of a new home for this story. I expected them to be looking for a new tree to live in, but the fact that you had them build a “normal” home (on top of a fire crab no less!) made it extra cute.

Seriously, how did you come up with all of these ideas? I’m curious if you did a lot in one sitting, or if you had to come back whenever the inspiration struck. They are all so creative!

Another fun one!

I was curious if we’d see the two imp characters from the last little story, but you introduce a completely new crew here! And this story’s quite a bit longer too =)

In the last story, the way it was narrated at the beginning somehow gave me the feeling that I was reading about something actually happening with those characters, but with the way this one is set up, I get a much more stronger feeling of this being a bedtime story, and I can almost imagine it being read to a child.

Again, the creativity is just delightful. I highly enjoyed the whole to-do of the dugbogs running about, using a lasso and mattress to catch the diricrawl. I also thought that it was very cute in this story how everybody has good intentions and kindness, despite the failure to communicate clearly. After lots of angsty fic, this is refreshing to read!

Wow, this is a really interesting idea for a story! I see that you’ve tagged the story shell with Luna and the Scamanders. I wonder if these are supposed to be like stories that they told their children? Either way, it’s all super cute!

And on top of that creativity, the actual content of this chapter is an absolute delight. Giving a kneazle a broomstick?? That sounds like something I have to see! Lol and on top of that the kneazle is wearing a scarf. This cat is either very pampered or very tortured, can’t tell which.

Wow, Keanan is one determined kneazle! I would’ve gotten away from that broom as fast as I could, but not Keanan!

This is actually a really nice cute story. It definitely feels like a children’s story, between the whimsy and the little lesson about determination.

I can’t wait to see what’s in the next chapter!

Seriously... how cute are those chapter images?!

I bet the shell of a Fire Crab made a beautifully appealing new home for the Bowtruckles (but I'll never forget how annoying those suckers were in the Harry Potter video games. I still hold a grudge...) I'm so glad it allowed the Bowtruckles to live with it! And I bet they had wonderful adventures together, all the while staying at home (a bit like reading a book ;))

Author's Response:

I'm glad you like the chapter images :) and the friendship of the Fire Crab and the Bowtruckles :)
(I've never played HP video games, so  - luckily I guess - I have no such annoying experience)

Again, I'm loving the names you've picked! I have a feeling I'll be saying that for every story :P I also love the variety of magical creatures that feature in the stories - very appropriate for the Scamander family household!

How sweet that since the Diricrawl can't fly with its own wings, it's finding other ways to fly instead! I love that even though the two species spoke different languages, they still communicated through drawing. Aw, and Anabel even gets some new clothing out of the parachute!

Gorgeous <3

Author's Response:

thank you for yet another sweet review! I thought that magical creatures were the most appropriate for children stories, since in muggle stories we also see animals (in an antropomorphic way), so I thought a magizoologist would invent the magical version of these stories :)

Hey Vilja! I just want to let you know in case I don't get to them all tonight that I plan to review all of these because they're so short and sweet! I love the whole concept of them being stories that Luna is telling the twins.

Also... Oh. My. Goodness. Those story images are so gorgeous! Everytime I read a description I scrolled up to see it :P The names of your characters are gorgeous, too! I love them!

The descriptions are simple, but enough. It's written in a ways that appeals to children, which is great :P I love the determination of Keanan the Kneazle! Even after 44 falls! Those imps are so naughty.

This is so sweet, Vilja! I can't wait to read the others!

Author's Response:

Hi Bianca! Thank you for leaving such a nice review! I'm glad you like this concept of child stories :)

The stories are indeed short (your review is almost longer than the story itself, hehe ;-))

Thank you again for r&r!
