Hi, Kaitlin! Since I saw the link of this story in the status, I've been itching to read so stopped by. At the same time, Gryffindor review battle for TEAM RED!
First I thought Tom Riddle was Voldemort but I was wrong. A penny dropped. His father Riddle.
It's very sad he had been walking a dog, Ripper alone till he met Marjorie. And your original episode about Marjorie is unique and interesting. Remembering Harry was chased up a tree by Ripper, it's an odd twist of fate.
Marjorie is written as a very independent child at her age, which is very impressive.
There's one mystery left. Why was Tom lonely? After he found out he was deceived by his ex-wife, was he disappointed by women? If so, the child Marjorie must have comforted him. It's irony of fate that he was murdered by his own son after he finally find a small happiness.
I like the first two paragraphs, which are so narrative. It's so sad that Tom Riddle's will was for Marjorie to have her dog, Ripper. A very beautiful ending, Kaitlin!

Here for CTF!
At first this totally had me going: does this work? Is Marge really that age? But then I read further and then I just stopped caring, because this certainly did work. I love the fact that Marge did not hestitate to speak her mind and defied what her mother wanted for her most of the time, yet it did show the upbringing they had and the fact that they came from a good family. The fact that she managed to make friends with Riddle and that that's where the first Ripper came from was really well done and i absolutely love the sentimentality behind the name. It even explains why she kept on having bulldogs, but why Ripper was her absolute favorite and it made my heart absolutely ache for her, especially because we know that she remains alone. I honestly never thought I could manage to bring up sympathy for that woman, but the fact that it did shows how exceptionally well you write. I wanted to hug her, make sure she was alright and hope she could get past at least some of the grief she went through, especially because Tom was so nice to her as soon as he became intrigued. I doubt she ever found company she liked as much as she did Tom. Really well done!

Hey Kailtin, here for CTF
I’m glad we’re reviewing you because you definitely deserve all this love d84; but I’m also dreading this so much because you’re a writing machine and we need so much luck finding the right story here.
Wow this is such an interesting idea – the Dursleys living in Little Hangleton and knowing Tom Riddle. Majorie is so sweet right from the beginning. Of course, a child would be fascinated by the huge mansion and the people living in it. But for some reason I’d be a little uncomfortable with her going up to introduce herself on her own if I was her mother. I guess back then people just didn’t watch their children as closely as is custom now.
There we go, Tom is being rude already and he hasn’t even opened his mouth yet. That’s exactly the sort of aloofness we know of him. You’ve captured that well.
Ohhhh smart girl d84; I love that she’s rebellious already, at only age six.
OH NO YOU DIDN’T!!!??? HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME? THIS STARTED OUT SO SWEET AND INNOCENT!!!
I’M CRYING AND IT’S YOUR FAULT.
It’s so sad that she had to find Tom like that. Oh god I’m so ANGRY with Voldemort, and not even for the murder he just committed but for the little girl whose heart he broke. She was probably the first little child to suffer from his cruelty after he got Hagrid kicked out of school, and yeah she won’t be the last.
OMG SHE KEEPS THE DOG. THAT IS WONDERFUL! Now I’m crying over that. It’s very thoughtful of Tom to change his will to mention her. How many people actually update their will regularly?
I love what you’ve done here, especially considering what the challenge was. It’s so creative and such a unique way to interpret the challenge.
Anyway. Please let the flag be here. That would make it so much easier for us.
Xoxo Anja
