We've recently welcomed two new members of staff here at FFT:
Prideofprewett has taken the role of Social Media Coordinator, and Goatspeed is our newest Archive Validator. We're so grateful to both of them!
It's November, and that can mean only one thing:
National Novel Writing Month!
Hop over to the forums to share your project and progress!
We're happy to share that blackballet has joined staff as our newest Activity Coordinator! She'll run the monthly forum activities (story & member of the month, forum challenge) and help us devise some upcoming winter events such as winter gift-giving and the next annual review event!
Congratulations to the winners, runners-up, and all nominees for this year's Inkys, chosen and voted on by FFT members in 17 categories.
51 separate stories (and series) by 28 FFT authors were recognized as finalists in this year’s categories. Of those 51 works that advanced to voting, 9 are original fiction, and the rest span 9 different fandoms!
The winners and runners-up comprised 31 stories/series by 20 different FFT authors, across 6 fandoms plus original fiction.
You can find the results for each category in the Staff Blog on the forums.
In the coming days we'll be working on updating the Featured Stories on the archives home page to feature this year's Golden Ink winners!

Hello, all!
While FanficTalk has always been a multifandom community, the Harry Potter series has clearly held a special place in it. We know that for many members, the author's persistent attacks on the trans community in recent months has brought concerns about her history of bigotry to a head, and they're trying to figure out where their place in the Harry Potter fandom is. Our staff team has heard the concerns and discomfort that many of you have expressed, and we're committed to finding a way forward that makes more room in our community for members who are feeling disillusioned or uncomfortable in the fandom as well as for members who are still engaged with it. For more information, please stop into the forums; if you have any feedback on what you'd like to see in this community moving forward, we'd love to hear it. (There's an anon feedback form if you're not comfortable saying it in the thread directly.)
Thank you!
we're making a couple changes to the archive as well as some tweaks to the themes. the biggest changes are:
content warnings: this is a new, optional tag category that authors can choose to warn readers when there might be some triggering content in the story that either isn't covered or is more specific than something in our advisories.
tropes: our old themes category is getting a glow up.
representation: our inclusivity category is getting renamed.
in addition, we've deleted all unused tags and will be requiring that ships have at least five fics on the archive to be given a tag.
after a lot of discussion over on the forums, the community has decided to rename the site to "fanfictalk" (or FFT for short). thanks so much to everyone who participated in the process! we're very excited about the new name, and will start changing assets and urls soon. (your old links will redirect, though, so you won't need to do anything on your end!)
sinnersandsapphics is stepping down from her positions as muggle liaison and gamekeeper. maraudertimes is joining the gamekeeper team in addition to her current role as auror, and renacerá is returning to the prefect team.
thank you so much, sam! congratulations, lo and emily!
this year's house cup finale is now underway on the forums. it will go on for the next month and include a variety of minigames; we hope you'll stop in!
We're very excited to welcome maraudertimes to the Auror team! Congratulations, Lo!
FROGS voting is open until March 15 on the forums - head over to vote for your favorite stories!
We're thrilled to welcome down-in-flames to the admin team and Ineke to a full senior staff position! Congratulations, Taylor and Ineke!
Unfortunately, we have to announce that Unwritten Curse has stepped down from her position as Auror - thank you so much, Gina!
Alopex has also moved from her role as Headmaster to Headmaster Emeritus.
