The year is 1997, and an order has gone out from the Ministry of Magic that all students between the ages of eleven and seventeen who were formerly taught at home must now present themselves for attendance at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Howard Sutton, the seventeen-year-old son of sheep crofters on the Isle of Skye, who formerly received his magical education at home, arrives at Hogwarts at the beginning of what will be the calamitous school year of 1997-1998. The Sorting Hat says, "It's not a matter of which House you need, but of which House needs you." What can a crofter do for Hogwarts?

All this nonsense about me being a hero is crap. Just because I’ve been through hell and back doesn’t make me a hero.
I’m not a hero; I’m a survivor.
Chapter 8 is up as of April 8, 2021!
Note: This story contains scenes of violence and torture, some of which is similar to events in our world. I will put in an Author's Note at the start of each chapter that contains this sensitive material.
This is the first book of a trilogy, chronicling an AU version of Harry's 6th and 7th years at Hogwarts and a few years beyond.
The second book in this three-book collection. "Harry Potter and the Philtre of Promise", was the first written, originally published as chapters at www.phoenixsong.net, where it is still available in its original form, culminating with a release of the epilog on July 15th, 2005, the day before Ms. Rowling's sixth book, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" was released. I was pleasantly surprised that I had unwittingly anticipated and duplicated several plot points.
This book, the first book in this series, "Harry Potter and the Rampage of Ages", was then started, to explain several points revealed but not explained in "Philtre of Promise", as well as to introduce plot points critical to the whole trilogy -- and to explain a few items that are not true to canon. The first sixteen chapters were published in fairly rapid order, but a series of debilitating strokes has delayed my continuation of the story until this time -- I am editing these chapters to correct a few mistakes, explain better some events, and to make the whole cohesive.
The third book, "Harry Potter and the Legacy of Evil", had been plotted out for writing when the strokes occurred, but most of those notes, along with the notes for the final chapters of the first book, were lost when a power surge fried the hard drive they were stored on. It has taken me far too many years to reconstruct those notes to complete this trilogy, working at recreating the salient plot points that were needed as I slowly recovered from the stroke. It is my fervent wish that my efforts will prove to be worthwhile, and that you, the readers, will enjoy this foray into my version of the world so beautifully created by J K Rowling.
Please note -- this collection is fan fiction, with everything but the plot and a few characters based on J K Rowling's work, and never was, is not, and never will be intended to infringe on any copyrights, trademarks, or other legal declarations of ownership held by anyone anywhere. These stories were written for the amusement of myself and other fans of the Harry Potter series as FAN FICTION, and I thank Ms. Rowling for allowing fans of the series such as myself to play in her created universe.

Rebuilding the castle feels like an impossible task, but they're teachers ??” what's one more impossible task?
This story reprises an actual event that occurred early in the morning of 15 January 1968. I have taken the liberty of moving the date to 25 December 1967 to coincide with Arthur Weasley's last Christmas at Hogwarts, a date that he will never forget.
The Hogwarts teachers are facing the first school year after the Battle of Hogwarts. How can they help the students and the whole community heal? What will it take to feel as if the world is back to normal?
In his tumultuous seventh year, Neville thought he had found his life's direction. But the shadow of war changes everything, even in Greenhouse Seven.
Scorpius is looking for answers in the constellation that bears his name. He becomes what he was not, and stumbles into Hogwarts' past, thanks to an unexpected arrival from the heavens.
